Too Faced Natural Nudes Intense Color Coconut Butter Lipstick Review & Swatches

I purchased three shades of Too Faced Natural Nudes Intense Color Coconut Butter Lipstick during Macy’s 15% Off a few weeks ago and sadly, only one of the three shades arrives as the others went out of stock.
In some ways, I have to express relief that the others didn’t arrive but I know at the time I was disappointed they didn’t. But after trying this formula, I was like, “I’m ok with just the one shade!”
The shade I ended up with was Strip Search and honestly, this was the shade getting the worst reviews from what I’ve read. So, I guess in the defense of the Too Faced Natural Nudes Intense Color Coconut Butter Lipstick Collection (say that fast three times) I can’t really say, “Well these are crap!” but if Strip Search ends up being the norm for the formula, well, that means I can say hey, don’t bother.
The thing that bugs me most about this collection was the shades. I feel like out of the 10 shades they launched none are really truly good nudes for my skin tone. None of them seem the ideal shade for my tone. I felt for sure from the It Comes Naturally Collection that the lipsticks would be what got my attention most.
Sadly, it didn’t turn out that way.

Strip Search is a soft warm pink which should be suitable for me as I have a good deal of warm nude pinks and they look great on my lips. Sadly, the shade gave me a really bad case of zombie lips. On me it looks more like lighter peach with a white base. Strike 1!
Too Faced calls the formula creamy and pigmented. Apparently they are infused with coconut butter to give your lips a hydrating, smooth appearance. Cool! That sounds fab as I have drier lips. There is absolutely no doubt this has a creamy texture with an easy, smooth glide on my lips. It’s a thicker texture that’s quite heavy but feels quite hydrating. The color is pretty much opaque on a single application and initially it looked very smooth but within a few minutes it settled horribly into my natural lip lines which gave it a dry, aged appearance. Ugh noooo! Not a flattering look at all. Strike 2!

You’ll notice I didn’t take a photo of myself wearing this. It’s just that bad looking that I didn’t want to embarrass myself wearing it!
There are so many things to love about this lipstick. The gorgeous packaging with the lace accents, the creamy texture, the pigment! There’s a lot of great stuff happening here.
But the color I choose just wasn’t working out for me. That did kill some of my lemmings to grab some more. And also, as I said I felt like the shade range wasn’t entirely friendly for me.
Oh well!
There are a lot of fish in the lipstick sea.
