Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil ($30) is a new cream blush infused with hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump skin while giving cheeks a natural pop of color. I recently purchased one of the Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veils in Just Peachy and I’m having a love hate relationship with it at the moment. I love the plush, plumped up feel of these not to mention I’m really into all these dewy blushes that launched this Summer! I’m normally not much of a dewy blush fan but for some reason I’ve been having a love affair with them this year.

Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil are available in six shades each of which is $30 and 0.17 oz in size. They come housed in a simple white compact with a generously sized mirror. The formula is marketed as being hydrating and dewy as well as sheer and natural and you get exactly what this formula promises. This is a very lightweight cream texture with sheer pigmentation that looks natural and gorgeous. It’s dewy, hydrating, and it glides on cheeks like melted butter not to mention it blends like a dream. I find the formula was very hydrating and a dream for anyone that has drier skin. It might not be the best pick for oily girls but those of us with dry skin will adore how this applies, blends, and looks on cheeks.

The lightly emollient texture wears comfortably on my skin and feels refresh and moisturizing. The color does apply pretty sheer but you can easily build it up should you like. I did notice no matte how much I applied I still ended up with the same soft, natural finish of color. Nothing bold, nothing too vibrant or crazy, just very natural and fresh.

This everything I LOVE about the product but the thing I hate about it is the lack of shades. I really wish Mario released more glow-y shades in this formula. I feel like a bit of shimmer would really make this pop even more. The peach shade I got was sort of chalky, milky to me! I wish it was more a glistening peachy coral. That would be such an brilliant shade for Summer in this yummy, creamy formula.

But one of the most important things that I disliked about this formula is the wear time. Sadly, Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil is a lot like Pat Mcgrath’s Divine Blush Legendary Glow Colour Balm in terms of shorter wear. I get maybe two hours out of this formula before it disappears on me. If I’m inside in the AC I’m good at around three hours but wearing this in the Summer sun is a no no. It just slips away and fades very quickly.

Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil has so much going for it but the wear time was very disappointing for me! I’d probably buy more shades if it didn’t slip away so quickly on me. Oh well!

Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil is available now. Have you tried it?

Where to buy

Sephora

Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil is a new sheer, moisturizing lightweight cream blush that’s available in six shades for $30 each which are 0.17 oz each. This formula is light, thin, and creamy. It applies and blends easily onto cheeks for a smooth, natural and dewy finish that has a hydrating feel. The color is buildable but no matter how much you apply you’ll always end up with a very natural pop of color! I absolutely loved the consistency and thought it feel hydrating without being sticky nor tacky. Sadly, it wears for a rather short time especially in the Summer heat. I can get about two hours from it worn outdoors in the heat and about three inside all day. It disappears fairly fast and needs a touch up throughout the day!

Pros

  • Light, natural coverage.
  • Applies and blends easily.
  • Looks very smooth on drier skin and feels hydrating.
  • Pretty, dewy finish!

Cons

  • Wears a very short time.

    Hi Isabella!
This is a general comment (nothing to do with the blush review 🙂
Have you done a review of the IT Bye Bye Undereye Bags yet??? I am struggling! I tried on top of concealer and it sorta smeared it a bit. I have lately been trying it as a 1st step but I think it looks weird and then when I put concealer on top, it doesnt look great and almost will peel off when I look at it closely! It does help with the bags for sure but having application issues. Just wondering what you think?? I also would LOVE if you did a review of sorts on what products you would or have brought for a long trip! I just got back from 2 weeks in Italy and 1/2 my carry on was PRODUCTS and I STILL had to go to the Sephora there!!! LOL Thanks so much! xo Brady

no it’s coming though! I hated it (also hated the new concealer). I tried it on top of concealer, on its own, and over eye cream. I didn’t feel it helped at all with my puffiness 🙁 I also felt like I couldn’t smile with it because it sort of felt tight and weird. Def not great for me 🙁 Oh good idea for a post! Will def try to get one up for you! How was Italy?! I’m plotting a trip to see Taylor Swift next year (and also to see my bestie who lives in Rome).

I had the same issue with longevity. Some have suggested layering over finishing powder which does help. I found the best way to wear is layer over a coordinating colored powder blush. Gave it a dewy look, longevity and more color impact. While you shouldn’t have to go through that to make it work I do suggest those who own it already to try that. It works really well. =)

I agree with you in the fact we shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get it to wear. I still like it but sure wish it would wear longer!
