I’m Going to Need a Jar of Olay Deep Moisture Slugging Mask

Olay Deep Moisture Slugging Mask is a new, hydrating sleeping mask that’s launching for Fall 2023 and I think I’m going to need a jar. Although, we must address the fact it already has 5 stars and there are absolutely no reviews on the website. I’m still getting over the trauma of the Olay Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 Skincare release reviews maybe we need to slow our roll with these 5-star ratings, Olay.

Anyway!!! I happen to be a slugger and do it quite often in the Winter as my skin loves the moisture. Typically, I just go cheap and do it with Cerave Healing Ointment but I got a little fancy a few months ago and started using the complete Futurewise Slugging Collection which I really quite love.

But hey, I’m here for a drugstore slugging trend! Let’s do this Olay!

What the hell is slugging anyway?

Slugging is a moisturizing technique that basically involves slathering your face with petroleum as the last step in your evening skincare routine. It helps skin to retain moisture and prevents it from losing water not to mention it seals in any other moisturizing products you’ve used prior. You either love this method or find it gross. Personally, as a dry skin girlie, I love it.

I find it interesting to see the trend developing in drugstore brands like Olay. Olay’s new Deep Moisture Slugging Mask contains Niacinamide, Water, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, and even Lactic Acid (great for exfoliation) to smooth skin and prevent moisture loss. Although, Olay does have an Overnight Gel Mask that’s been around a while now which contains a lot of the same ingredients. I wonder, texture-wise, how different these two products are. This also contains Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 which produces a retinol-like effect without being overly harsh!

I’m a little said to say this does contain fragrance. I could do without that! It doesn’t contain petroleum which sort of defeats the purpose of slugging as petroleum is what “seals” moisture in. But it is loaded up with some interesting ingredients none the less.

Olay Deep Moisture Slugging Mask will be $19.99 and it’s only available on Olay’s website so far but should be headed to mass retailers soon! Will you try it?

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Niacinamide, Lactic Acid, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Trehalose, PEG-11 Methyl Ether Dimethicone, Sodium Lactate, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Sodium Benzoate, Fragrance

They must have added one without fragrance because I recently discovered this and mine says “fragrance free” on it! My holy grail is the original pink Olay in the jar. (Not the pink bottle labeled beauty fluid, but the jar. My biggest pet peeve is that it is a small jar though! So I found the slugging mask while looking on their website to see if they had a bigger 100ml jar of the original yet. I’ve seen it sometimes at Walgreens but not on their own website or anywhere else in person, which is annoying. :/ Anyway, jury is still out on this because it doesn’t really sink in as well as my og jar so I may have to use this for night only. I had previously thought if it felt nice enough, I could use it for day and night but sparingly, and therefore would save money.
