Not Everyone is Going to Like Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
3 stars out of 5

It’s time for my Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser review! Excited? Don’t be! Because not everyone is actually going to like the Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser formula! Oh my god! Panic! Mass hysteria!

First off, Drunk Elephant has a stellar reputation so anything they do is by default gets labeled as brilliant and awesome and innovative before anyone even tries it! Secondly, I think people are obsessed with cleansing balms at the moment and if you’re a Drunk Elephant fan it’ll bring you a good deal of joy that you can appease your need for more cleansing balm choices especially ones that are available from a potential favorite brand.

According to the brand’s creator this wasn’t an easy formula to master. That could be because it lacks certain fillers, fragrances, etc that other cleansing balms have. There are no essential oils here, no silicone, no mineral oil…it’s a clean formula created with a host of different moisturizing oils (this is a potential downfall for this formula which I’ll explain more in a moment).

Korean and Japanese skincare and beauty has infiltrated our shores in the last five years and I couldn’t be happier about that. As a long time K and J-Beauty lover it’s so nice to see brands I love from Asia being so readily available at stores here in the US. But most important of all many skincare trends in Asia have influenced our market quite heavily cleansing balms being one of those trends.

Everyone has a cleansing balm available today! From Clinique’s cult favorite Take the Day Away Balm to Pond’s newest Cleansing Balm there’s something for everyone in the cleansing balm world.

Now, cleansing balms are no longer innovative nor unique to the US market. They have become fairly standard at drugstores as well as from mid to high-end brands. That makes Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser a little late to the party. However, what sets their formula apart is the fact it is formulated with a host of excellent ingredients but also, they include a tiny Bamboo Booster along with the larger cleansing balm! This Bamboo and charcoal powder acts to gently exfoliate skin and can be used twice a week mixed with the cleansing balm. Honestly, you’d probably get about a week maybe two weeks out of this really small sample (0.10 oz). I’m actually not going to talk much about it because I have a separate post and review for that add on. I do think maybe it’s a sneak peeks of sorts that perhaps Drunk Elephant will release in a larger size at a later time. Or at least I hope that’s the plan because otherwise, I think including this is utterly stupid at this size. If I can’t replenish it what’s the point!?

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

New day, new eyeshadow palette from Charlotte Tilbury! Today, the Charlotte Tulbury Dreamgasm Eyeshadow Palette launched on her site to go along with the gorgeous Lovegasm Palettes that launched last week!

The palette was created to pair up with other pieces from her newest collection and features shades from her Exagger-eyes, Pillow Talk and Dolce Vita Luxury Palettes. It’s a rose gold palette theme of champagne, copper bronze, and rose gold. The shades create a “halo” soft focused effect on eyes for an ethereal glow.

Charlotte Tilbury Dreamgasm Luxury Palette for Summer 2019 is limited edition available exclusively on Charlotte’s site and $53. I ordered the Lovegasm Palettes from her site recently as well as the Beauty Light Wands and haven’t used them thankfully as I’m totally returning them since they launched at sephora.com today and managed to score them with 20% off! I wish this palette was also coming to Sephora boooooo! Oh well! I admit I need it to add to my stash!

Sephora Beauty Insider Spring 2019 Bonus Event

I was compensated by a brand or company but all thoughts and opinions are my own and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

If you’re somehow not yet a Beauty Insider you can still sign up to be one at sephora.com! Beauty Insiders not only get to take part in the Sephora Beauty Insider Spring Bonus Event but many other events throughout the year as well as gain points and rewards redeemable towards merchandise available Tuesdays and Thursdays during Sephora’s Rewards Bazaar as well as in store at checkout for a variety of sample and sample sets as well as free makeup overs, a special Birthday gift, and more. If you reach Rouge status you’ll also be get free standard shipping, early access to newly launched beauty, a chance to redeem points for a $100 Reward, and more.

I have to admit the chance to enjoy 20% off all of my favorite brands makes my Rouge Membership totally worth it. Sephora typically has this event during the Holidays and again, in the Spring and I’m always prepared with a wish list at the ready for items I want!

I was actually pretty well organized this year and made a list and everything of staples I wanted to pick up like Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream! I try so MANY different eye creams but I always come back to Shiseido formula because I find it so moisturizing. I wouldn’t say it’s done anything for my finer lines but it does a heck of a lot for my dry eyes! Anyone use it?

Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Repair Kit for Eyes

I also repurchased a few Drunk Elephant essentials. I swear Drunk Elephant Skincare has been such a weird trip for me. I was convinced it wasn’t working at all but the more I used it the more I noticed the different in my skin not to mention on the days I wasn’t using it how my skin would look so much better when I was. I repurchased Drunk Elephant C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum and T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial 25% AHA + 2% BHA Mask. I also added some new items into my cart to check out like the A-Passioni Retinol Cream we discussed a few weeks ago. There’s so much hype around this product I thought I had to try it for myself! I’m actually also in the process of testing out Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser which might be a great pick up with your discount! I’ll share my thoughts on it soon! Oh by the way, I also picked up the Drunk Elephant Baby Pekee Bar + Juju Bar Travel Duo! Does anyone use these? I always like solid cleansing bars (I’m a big fan of April’s Skin Magic Stone Black)! But really, my most important purchase was C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum! Did you know did you know Vitamin C really beefs up your sunscreen!? When Drunk Elephant recommended using Vitamin C in the day on their instructions I was a little skeptical as it was always a treatment I used in the evening. Turns out the combination of Vitamin C and sunscreen actually it slows the rate of free radical damage!

Other skincare purchases I made….!

I think I’m good for a while haha…! I’m really curious about the Inkey List! It’s already affordably priced but with the extra 20% off it’s even better!

I did want to try some new skincare out so, looks like I did pretty well with all the above. Speaking of new, Fresh has a new Rose Deep Hydration Moisturizer I’m loving at the moment. They sent me a sample of the smaller $15 0.5 oz jar and I loved it so much I grabbed the larger size during the sale. It has a gel-like texture that absorbs super fast and not only hydrates but it also retains moisture really well which makes my face really smooth and well hydrated throughout the day but not greasy or oily. I think this might turn into my Summer moisturizer!

And yes, I did get some makeup as well! It all wasn’t skincare but that’s for another post 🙂

Wanna share what you got during the Sephora sale?
