Lush Cosmetics UK Shuts Down Instagram Account and Possibly Other Social Media

Lush Cosmetics UK announced they are they are closing their Instagram account and maybe other social media accounts as well. According to them they are tired of “fighting” with algorithms and and they don’t want to “pay” to appear in feeds so, they are going to switch things up and bid a fond farewell to some of their social media outlets.

Lush UK has a very, very long and rich history in being very one on one with their customers and fans. Their forum has always been a popular gathering place for fans to interact with each other but also, with Lush founder “Big” Mark Constantine, Aunitie Pamela (No, not the Bubble Bar, the person), and of course, Hilary, Lush’s Ethical Director. All of which have appeared on the Lush UK Forum to chat, goof around, and gather with Lushies! The forum was massive 10 or more years ago and it’s still a pretty popular spot for Lushies to gather.

Of course, many things changed with the popularity and the introduction of certain social media platforms. Forums, IRC, BBS Boards, Chat Rooms, they are all dinosaurs compared to how we currently communicate on the Internet. Not to mention we live our online lives a lot differently than we did ten plus years ago.

Lush isn’t alone struggling with algorithm changes. It’s something small bloggers like myself battle with daily. As soon as Google starts brewing up a new algo change I hold my breath and hope for the best. That small (or large) change can make or break me. I’ve already feeling the ripples of the last update. It’s not fun. The same goes for any algo changes experienced across Facebook, Twitter, or more recently Instagram. Like any business, social media is out to make money and they want you to pay to reach your fan/consumer base! It makes sense. It’s a good business model but it’s also one that not every blogger, influencer, or brand can afford.

Not everyone is on board with Lush’s choice to close down certain social media accounts. They feel like it’s putting people out of work! Their PR or Media Team might get fired. However, we actually don’t really know if they even have a PR or Media Team that handles those accounts. Lush has always run like a small business so, it is possible that they don’t have an entire PR team running their accounts. Other people hate the idea they won’t be able to interact with Lush daily on their favorite social media platforms. And some thing Lush is being cheap and even childish cause they can’t deal with an algo change.

Revlon Gurls Talk Collection Arrives at Target

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

You may have read about the new Revlon Gurls Talk Collection when they launched in the UK several weeks ago. If not, the collection is available now at Target. The collection was created in collaboration with British fashion model and activist for the Gurls Talk Adwoa Aboah.

The Revlon Gurl’s Talk Collection features three sets that promote self-care and body positivity and were also created to allow for easy application for younger makeup users. The kits also feature inspirational younger women th

A series of short films was also been released to market the collection and in each Aboah discusses the power of makeup and how the kits are ideal for people who struggle to apply makeup.

The Gurls Talk Community was opened a year ago by Aboah after struggling with mental and health addiction issues. She created the website as a safe space for both girls and women to speak about topics that are still seen as being taboo in today’s society. She also holds Gurls Talk events around the world!

Let’s take a look at the set!

Tarte Icy Betch Eye & Cheek Palette Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
4 stars out of 5

Tarte Icy Betch Eye & Cheek Palette ($24) is a new, limited edition aquatic eyeshadow palette that the brand recently launched. You might recall that last year Tarte pulled an April Fool’s Day and said they’d be introducing a Tartelette Icy Betch Eyeshadow Palette which included 12 aquatic shades. People were pretty disappointed this was only a joke! Tarte finally saw the potential behind releasing a palette like this but they waited an entire year and almost to the day they announced that there would be an Icy Betch Eye & Cheek Palette on the way and no, this time it wasn’t a joke!

Sadly, we aren’t getting the Tartelette Icy Betch Eyeshadow Palette they pranked us with which was disappointing for a lot of people as that palette is actually a lot better than the one we did get! Shrug! I guess they might be testing the waters for a palette like this and seeing how their consumers will react to it before actually doing something bigger in size. The Tarte Icy Betch Eye & Cheek Palette we are getting is smaller holding only nine shades instead of twelve and it also includes one highlighter versus the joke palette that contained twelve eyeshadows and no highlighter.

Wet n Wild Rebel Rose Photo Focus Rose Toner Review

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
3 stars out of 5

Wet n Wild Rebel Rose Photo Focus Rose Toner ($7.99) is a new, limited edition rose-scented toner that launched with the Rebel Rose Spring 2019 Collection a few short weeks ago. Wet n Wild has been really getting into skincare lately with quite a few different launches. I have to admit I don’t like their skincare launches for two reasons because one, many of their skincare launches are limited edition and two, they can be quite expensive. Look at the recent Wet n Wild Expert Level Cleansing Oil I reviewed! It’s $8.99 for 1.52 oz in size! Ouch!

I got the Rebel Rose Photo Focus Rose Toner in the Rebel Rose Full Collection Box. This is the first time I purchased one of these massive vaults from Wet n Wild! It was kind of exciting to get it and open it up to reveal all the pretty items inside. The packaging is an utter waste but I actually kept it and put it on a shelf in my makeup room. At some point I know I’ll remove it all and store it more sensibly but right now I’m just enjoying looking at it!

Shrug!

It’s the little things that make me happy.

NARS Orgasm Liquid Highlighter for Spring 2019

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

NARS Orgasm Liquid Highlighter ($30) and it better have a nicer formula than the Orgasm Illuminating Loose Powder which disappointed me. Really, the formula was fine it was just the color was so wrong on the Illuminating Powder! I hope that the liquid highlighter is truer to the Orgasm shade I know and love!

This is a lightweight fluid version of Orgasm according to the brand! So, that’s good news! Don’t disappoint me here NARS!

This formula makes it easy to mix in with your foundation or moisturizer something that isn’t exactly possible with the powder version. You can, of course, apply it easily on its own as well!

I’m going to purchase it! I’m a big Orgasm fan and I’m hoping for something special!

What do you think of the new NARS Orgasm Liquid Highlighter?
