Milani Bold Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Milani Bold Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette ($20) is one of the stand out eyeshadow palettes of the season for me thus far. The Bold Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette is one of Milani’s biggest and most expensive eyeshadow palettes to date and was released along with an all matte version entitled Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette. At the time I purchased this the Most Loved Mattes was not available and released the next day which completely irritated me as it felt like when Too Faced released the Peaches & Cream Collection at Sephora last year with a single product releasing every day rather than the entire collection in one go. I’ve expressed before I don’t really like the game playing with these releases and as irritating as Too Faced’s release method was at least I got free shipping with each item at Sephora. I can’t say the same for Milani as they do have a $30+ free shipping option and considering the palette was only $20 I was disappointed both didn’t release on the same day.

Thus I ended up with Bold Obsessions only because I’m Miss Frugal Gourmet when it comes to spending money on shipping and I didn’t need anything else from Milani at the time Most Loved Mattes launched. You could say, “Well, head to the store and buy it!” More and more drugstore brands are releasing items online first before stores lately. Both Maybelline and Wet n Wild have done this with quite a few releases and Milani did the same with these two palettes. Some people did say they saw the palette at Target but as of now I have been unable to locate it at any store. I’m a “I see it I want it” kind of girl so, I’m not going to wait weeks to buy it in store when I can get it super fly fast online.

Well, now that I’ve tried this I know I won’t mind paying money for shipping. It’s pretty darn awesome.

Here’s my review and swatches!

MAC Gets Really Funky and Unique with Jeremy Scott

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

MAC x Jeremy Scott arrives at Ulta today and it brings together a curated collaboration of some the brand’s most unique and funkiest pieces of makeup to date. But that doesn’t come as any great surprise with Jeremy Scott holding the reins to this collection! As creative director of Moschino we’ve seen our fair share of bold, fun, and downright interesting pieces of fashion and accessories so it comes as no surprise that his MAC Collection brings some of that same bold fun.

The collection does bring a touch of old school to the makeup world with a 29 pan eyeshadow palette shaped like a Boom Box, cassette shaped lip palette, and CD shaped cheek palette.

I was on the phone with my mom the other day and she was telling me about some show she was watching, I think the Chew (sometimes I tune her out when she starts talking about day time TV LOL), and she said that one of the hosts was sitting with his son or something eating corn and he was making the little typewriter sounds with the BING at the end. His son turned to him and said what are you doing and he said it was mimicking a typewriter and his son had no idea what that was.

It had me thinking that somewhere there’s some kid that’s going to hit the MAC counter and wonder what the hell a cassette tape is. This was me when I was kid. My parents had a gorgeous cabinet in the foyer and inside there was…wait for it….drum roll…an 8-track and record player. GASP! True story. I remember growing up and not not having a clue WTF an 8-track was. I mean some good came out of it because the first time I heard the words uttered, “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash!” was on an old 8-track my dad had and that was true love ever after.

But yup, MAC x Jeremy Scott brings the old school to your makeup collection today.

Make Up For Ever Star Lit Glitter Palette for Sparkle Lovers

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Make Up For Ever Star Lit Glitter Palette arrives for Spring 2018 filled with six delightfully sparkly eyeshadows. Actually, Make Up For Ever describes them as having a breakthrough glitter formula. But really, doesn’t that kind of make you excited? It’s like, what could the possibly do to make glitter more awesome than it already is?!?

It’s actually based of the Star Lit Powder and Liquid that launched last year. These capture the light and provide intense sparkle with a prismatic finish. Apparently they apply easily with your finger but just as smoothly with a brush. Some of the shades are color shifting as well.

The colors are a little mismatched and you might have noticed that if you’re as anal as I am but I’m still intrigued.

Shades:

  • Beam
  • Flame
  • Flicker
  • Prism
  • Reflection
  • Spark

Now I have to ask myself, “Do you need another sparkly eyeshadow palette?” That little devil on my should is nodding its head vigorously.

Make Up For Ever Star Lit Glitter Palette is available at sephora.com.

I Do Wonder How Similar Tatcha Face Primer Is To Poreless Face Defender

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Tatcha The Silk Canvas Face Primer arrived at Sephora last weekend and for a whooping $52 bucks it promises to make your face look flawless. I did not hesitate grabbing this up even though it is essential a silicone primer that looks quite fancy.

It arrived on Monday and it was wrapped up as tight as Fort Knox. It comes in a box which you open to reveal tissue paper which you unwrap to reveal an sealed aluminum bag. I admit I was like, “Damn….! Is this Tatcha The Silk Canvas Face Primer or is it the Hope Diamond!?” What’s with the excess packaging?

It’s elegant as hell though and quite a heavy compact that’s vanity-worthy. I didn’t glance at the size but I’ll speak more about that in my review. It does seem to hold a lot of product though!

So, what is it anyway?

It’s a face, eye, and lip primer “of pressed silk” that provides a smooth canvas for makeup to adhere to. Apparently it contains silk extract (as well as Dimethicone) that will perfect skin while minimizing excess shine and giving your skin a soft focused finish. Apparently it also contains a bunch of ingredients to protect your skin from environmental stressors as well. It’s actually one of their key selling points for the primer. As any face primer can prime your skin and make it look flawless but how many are actually creating a strong enough barrier to protect skin.

I couldn’t help but wonder how it might compare to my holy grail Mally Face Poreless Face Defender! However, the formulas are applied considerably different as this is actually a priming cream which is applied like a moisturizer where as Mally’s formula is patted on using a sponge.

I’ll review it for you shortly and let you know how things go.

What do you think of the new Tatcha the Silk Canvas Face Primer?
