Someone asked me last week what my favorite vanilla perfume is after I posted about Snif Vanilla Vice and without hesitation I immediately knew my answer. I bet some of you who have been here a while thought I’d answer either Stila Cream Bouquet or Lush Vanillary. You’d be right if you guessed either as favorites of mine but neither was the reply I gave the person who asked.
I can’t say I’m not easily influenced by colorful ads. I was on Reddit last week and Pat Mcgrath and Charlotte Tilbury being so sparkly and gorgeous in ads was mentioned and how they weren’t quite as beautiful as the ads and I couldn’t agree more. I am always, always suckered into a Pat Mcgrath or a CT purchase because of the ads. I think Charlotte Tilbury Pinkgasm Sunset Beauty Light Wand is a perfect example of excellent marketing. I could not run fast enough to purchase it but I was a bit disappointed it wasn’t as pink as in pictures and more coppery! And the thing is I never learn my lesson! Like a true masochist, I can be burned a million times with these two brands and I still go back for more of the same pain.
Anyway, since I’m easily influenced as I mentioned above and I now have a new skincare product I’m obsessing over and trying to avoid picking up because I have a feeling the ads are better than the actual product. But I’ll cave!
I haven’t made a Smashbox purchase in a while but I’ll take all the new Smashbox Halo Sculpt + Glow Face Palette With Vitamin E thanks ever so much! The new Smashbox Halo Sculpt + Glow Face Palette for Spring 2024 are a palette featuring a contour, two blush, and highlighter shades in one palette. These are available in four shade selections for $45 each. Smashbox calls these “cushiony” but I suspect they are more of a smooth gel powder. The formula is primer infused for smooth, flawless looking color.
I used to really enjoy Smashbox back in the day but for some reason it fell off my radar. What’s interesting about Smashbox is they are still standing strong well after the pandemic and in a beauty world that’s constantly looking for new, new, new and they aren’t nesscarily producing new at the pace other brands are.
Sol De Janeiro Delicia Drench Body Butter and Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa ’59 are two new Spring 2024 launches that will be available after the New Year rings in! I don’t have an official launch date but according to the brand they plan on dropping the butter on December 21st (and today you can get it at sephora.com) and the fragrance mist after the New Year. I’ve been waiting to hear exactly how Delicia Drench Body Butter smelled and speculated it would smell like After Hours which launched a few months ago. I was pretty much convinced of it since the blue packaging they were teasing on Instagram was very similar to After Hours but turns out we are getting a completely new fragrance. I’m so excited. The Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa ’59 just dropped at sephora.com now too!
The new Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa ’59 and Sol de Janeiro Delicia Drench Body Butter will share similar notes of vanilla orchid, sugared violet, and sheer sandlewood. Vanilla is having it’s moment in the sun at the moment and is a viral note sensation across social media (particularly Tiktok) and I’m pretty happy they included a vanilla note here but not sure how I feel about violet. I do like violet but I tend to think Guerlain violet whenever I hear it’s in a fragrance. But considering Sol de Janeiro rarely fails me with their fragrances I’m sure this will be a beautiful fragrance mix. That being said I do wish they’d get on creating a body butter for Cheirosa ’71 already! They had a hand cream and I totally used to wear it on my upper chest before misting on the fragrance mist. True story!
