Wondering what the best drugstore mascara is? Curious what drugstore makeup brand has the best drugstore mascara of the year? Well, I’m here to be controversial and say that I do think splurging on mascara is ok. I know, I know. Don’t kill me for that! But I don’t meet a lot of drugstore mascaras that I actually like and when I do I’m always terribly surprised and delighted. Most times it’s not even the formulas that are an issue but the brushes. Remember when we went through that larger oversized brush era? I blame you, Covergirl! I just couldn’t get on board with this giant mega sized applicators. I was either poking my eye out with them or smearing gobs of mascara on my lashes. No likey!

I’m not going to say that all drugstore mascaras but in my experience I prefer splurging a bit on them. But hey, nowadays, it’s not even a splurge considering a lot of drugstore mascaras run around $14.99 or more. Ouch! My personal ride or die is Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes but I wander away from it from time to time to try new formulas. But I have to say the best drugstore mascara I tried in 2023 has actually pushed my beloved Lights, Camera, Lashes to the side!

We had our first big snow in New York over the weekend and really, it wasn’t even all that bad but it was magical while it lasted (now it’s sludge). It’s been pretty cold lately and later tonight we’re having some sort of super windy moment. These are the days you want to snuggle up on the couch and not move till Spring. But sadly, reality sets in fast and we realize some of us still need to head out to work, go grab the essentials at the grocery store, and just live life despite the cold weather. I see so many people talking about seasonal depression and how after the holidays they fall into a funk. I mean, I don’t love the cold but I don’t get depressed about it either. I thrive in this weather if I’m honest. I love a good cozy moment and I think winter is the perfect time for that.

And I really love a little fun makeup around this time of the year! I know that Christmas is over and I shouldn’t be loving on sparkly eyeshadows but I think sparkly eyeshadows and cold weather go hand and hand and I tend to haul out all my fun sparkly eyeshadows to wear around this time of the year. I just recently hauled a bunch of new Dear Dahlia Paradise Shine Eye Sequins and they are just perfect for a cold night out!

We have a new serum from Jones Road Beauty for Spring 2024. Their new Multivitamin Serum has launched for $48 and it vitamins C, B, E and Sodium Hyaluronate. Bath & Body Works Valentine’s Day 2024 Collection is trickling onto the website with a brand new fragrance launch that many of us are excited about. If you haven’t heard already Bath & Body Works released a new scent called Sweetheart Cherry with notes of wild cherry, crushed pistachio and whipped vanilla. I haven’t smelled it yet but it sounds like something I’ll absolutely adore. Word on street says this one is NOT a Cherry Merlot dupe which is great news as I’d like something fresh and fun for V-Day from Bath & Body Works!
