Maybelline Lash Stiletto Review and Giveaway

You know how much a snob your Muse is when it comes to US drugstore cosmetics right? So when I met up with Maybelline Lash Stiletto a few days ago I wasn’t expecting too much but boy was I proven wrong!

Jump ahead to feel the love!

Ranging in a price of $7.99 USD to $9.99 USD I wasn’t expecting too much from Maybelline Lash Stiletto, after all I never expect much from anything that sprouts a price tag like that from my local drugstore. Most run ins I have with drugstore mascara is using a tube as a basketball as I toss it into the trash can but obviously, on rare occasions, a Muse can be proven wrong about a product or two purchased outside of a high end counter.

Anything that promises thee ultimate in length for my lashes is way too good to be true. But ado tis true…..Maybelline Lash Stiletto promises length and provides it without question.

First off if you’re not careful during application you will end up with badly separate eye lashes and that scary spider web look, not cool. But with proper prepping with your lash curler and a sure grip on your wand you’ll be able to curl lashes upwards and out while gripping each lash and lengthening it by at least 5 times it’s normal size. The best way to apply is with a slight zig zag motion as it allows the brush to grip lashes and pull them upwards. The effect is extremely long lashes! Keep in mind that the mascara promises simply length and that’s all it gives. You’re not going to get fatter, plumper lashes with this, you’ll simply get amazing length with it.

The applicator is a thin brush with bristles. I know, gasp, shock, amazing right? A mascara with a brush applicator, not a plastic one! Bless be! The applicator is a bit on the sharp side so if you’re clumsy with mascara application do be careful with this. I think the end results are produced by the very thin, straight brush applicator as the formula isn’t anything special that I noticed. I do think that the thin applicator allows you to catch all your lashes and has an interesting effect of gripping lashes to pull them forward.

The formula isn’t waterproof and easily washes away with warm water and simple soap however it has the ability to last quite long minus smudging or flaking. I’m not a fan of non waterproof mascara but this is quite long wearing so I don’t mind in the least. The formula is light enough not to weight lashes done so it keeps curl fairly well.

All in all I think it’s a rather fabulous drugstore find and a great beauty on a budget purchase. It promises length and delivers! If you have small stubbier lashes it should work well at pulling them outwards. I’m unsure about recommending it for Asian eyes though as the applicator is such a straight edge that I think it would make for a bit of a difficult apply using it but for the price it’s well worth trying to see!

Overall, must eat my words here, it’s a love. Maybelline Lash Stiletto is Muse Approved for purchase! The Muse loves it but don’t take her word for it. She wants you to try it out for yourself to see what you think.

She has two Maybelline Lash Stiletto to giveaway! The giveaway begins today and ends next Monday. You have two chances to win. One is by following me on Twitter and the second way to win would be to subscribe to my feed.

If you already do this you don’t have to do anything, you’ll be automatically entered to win! International readers can of course join in for win as well!

Good Luck!

Product Musings: Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in Peace and Graffiti

Dontcha just love when you find that perfect combo that just goes well together without any major thinking on your part? I’m not so great pairing up colors but when I got my hands on Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in Peace and Graffiti a few years ago, I knew I had a match made in heaven on my hands!

I’ve never met such a great pair of shadows that went so well together. Contrasting Peace’s cool blue teal with Graffiti beautiful bright green is a gorgeous cocktail of color.

Let’s not forget how pigmented, easy to blend, and silky smooth Urban Decay Deluxe Shadows are as well! I’m not much for a satin finish but these are divine!

Peace and Graffiti are too of my very fav Urban Decay Shadows! Love pairing them up, loving wearing them solo, simply loves ’em!

Good stuff!

Do you have any favs from the Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow range?

What are your fav combos?

Smashbox Waterproof Shadow Liner Duo

Smashbox Waterproof Shadow Liner Duo available in four shades for $25 USD is the newest duo available from Smashbox.

I really like these. I enjoy Smashbox potted liner anyway and the idea of having a matching shadow to go along with a liner is rather a cool concept. I’m loving the slick compact as well with the added mirror, nice touch! Although I don’t favor a smoky eye in the Spring/Summer I wouldn’t mind grabbing one or two of these for the Fall!

Musings of the Day: Trying It On For Size?

You probably all know my answer to this one right?

So when you go to Sephora or your local counter do you test makeup out on yourself? On your lips? Cheeks?

As I said you probably know my answer, a big, fat NO! I refuse to put anything on my lips, cheeks, or face at counters or Sephora. If I want to test I swatch on my hand but I’m too anal to try any of it on my face. Be it at MAC, Dior, or Sephora I don’t care what counter or store I’m at, I simply won’t test any of it.

Yuk!

Tis my anal, germ-a-phobic nature but I’m not testing any of that stuff on my face!

How about you?

How do you test at counters?

Are you a swatcher or do you test on your face?

Lush Antiphilitron Shampoo Review

If by some chance you’re looking to wash that man right out of your hair and everything else with it, that would mean it’s about time you tried out Lush Antiphilitron Shampoo.

Hello, my name is the Muse and my hair has been silicon free for years now.

Ahhh the joy of living life with silicon free hair. It’s like having a good hair day every single day! Lush Shampoo and Conditioners are silicon free which means that hair is not weighted down with tons of yucky additives. Additives which give you bad hair days, frizzy hair, flat hair, oily hair and just general hair woe. Although on occasion my hair does crave a little silicon I try to use silicon based products in moderation.

The moral of my story is if your hair is not feeling it’s cleanest and you’re wanting to detox, I’m highly suggesting you grab yourself a big bottle of Lush Antiphilitron and call it a day. You’ll be happy you did!

What is it?

Think of Antiphilitron as a bottle of detox for your locks. It rinses your hair clean of oil, buildup, silicons, and more! What it leaves behind is pure joy! Your hair will feel lighter with a single use, more manageable with less frizz (if you suffer from frizz that is). If you have oily hair you’ll be all the more excited as this works amazingly well on oily scalps to create pure hair bliss! The formula is lemon based which makes hair shiny as well!

Now my hair is a bit on the dry side so I use this once or twice a week to detox my tresses. I use Lush King of Mods and although it doesn’t build up in my hair it does leave my hair feeling a bit oily plus during the week I’ll occasionally reach for my Skindazzles custom conditioner which is loaded with silicons. To rinse all this out I simply use Antiphilitron once or twice a week for a glowing head of hair! Loves it!

Lush Antiphilitron Shampoo wasn’t available for a really long time as it was discontinued but it was brought back recently with Retro Lush! Who knows how long it’ll last but I sure hope they keep it around for a while as it’s simply awesome!

Who might love it?

  • Anyone with oily hair!
  • Those who want squeaky clean hair.
  • Anyone who’s hair is loaded down with build up from product use such as gel, hairspray, silicon shampoo, and conditioner.
  • Anyone who wants picture perfect hair everyday single day!

Lush Antiphilitron Shampoo is simply amazing stuff and comes with my highest Muse Approval for purchase! I heart this stuff in a big way! Pick it up! It’s a must have!
