Somebody has to say! This whole Sephora Early Access Holiday Gift Sets on the Sephora app sucks. Over the past two or three weeks every Monday I get a text from Sephora telling me there are new Holiday 2022 Gift Sets and product launches now available on their app. Sometimes the alert reads, “Early access for Rouge” and sometimes it just says “App Exclusives” but either way it’s annoying and it sucks.
I get the way to generate traffic to the app but why are we releasing Holiday sets in dribs and drabs. I find it frustrating and irratating. Not to mention the early access is really pointless because it’s only one day! Tomorrow everything will be on the website. It’s bizarre to be like, “Hey Rouge! You guys are SO SPECIAL! Here’s some early access for you!” and within 24 hours the items are available for everyone else. Gee, thanks Sephora, that made me feel super special.
Can we talk about the fact the items are really THAT exciting? I mean, ok they have the Peter Thomas Roth Gel Patches Set for early access and yeah, that sold out fairly fast last year but dude, it’s NOT REALLY THAT SPECIAL that it has to be offered as an early access product. They also have a One/Size Til Dwn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray Duo available. Again, not really that big a deal.
I just don’t see the point of doing Holiday launches like this. I dunno maybe this creates some hype and buzz around releases and perhaps people get more excited about launches using this marketing technique. Personally, I found it frustrating and dumb. Just give me everything at once because ain’t nobody got time for sitting around, waiting for texts from Sephora every week about the latest Holiday launches.
