I had the pleasure of being in Japan for Cherry Blossom Season many years ago and oddly, one of the weirdest things I get asked is, “What did it smell like?” One would think being surrounded by all these gorgeous, delicate flowers that you’d be engulfed in a beautiful fragrance.
But sadly, that wasn’t the case. Cherry blossoms have the faintest of scents and it’s really not a note that permeates the air. Even though it didn’t smell like much I still romanticized the moment of walking through all those beautiful trees and I’ve always wanted to somehow recapture the moment with a scent. Scent is such a powerful thing that evokes such good memories and even though the air wasn’t scented with cherry blossoms at that particular moment in my life I still somehow associate the scent of cherries and cherry blossoms with that special time in my life. I also happen to associate them with sex for some reason or another. I blame too much time in Amsterdam and Tom Ford for that!
Several fine years ago, Escada Cherry in the Air was introduced and it became somewhat of an urban legend much like the fabled Escada Fruit Punch Perfume. Cherry in the Air sold out so very quickly and like all Escada seasonal releases, it never returned. I still have a small bit of it and I’ve been holding tight and cherishing it for years now. I was hoping Paris Hilton Ruby Rush would be a curious little dupe but sadly, it didn’t turn out that way.
But Escada Cherry in Japan is about the closest thing you’ll get to Cherry in the Air and it happens to be on sale at ulta.com but only for today and tomorrow so do grab it if you want it!
