Shiseido Rumored To Be Selling Bare Minerals, Buxom, and Laura Mercier

A Shiseido rumor is going around about the potential sale of Bare Minerals, Laura Mercier, and Buxom. This comes as no surprise considering the huge dip in sales Shiseido had in 2020 which had a near 30% drop. They actually closed a good deal of Bare Minerals stores last year as well. I honestly don’t understand the concept of freestanding brand stores. I think it’s terrible idea to carry a single brand in one store. They also took Bare Minerals private a few years ago. I recall their stock performed quite well. Hm…!

That being said Shiseido has a diverse portfolio of brands both here in the US and in Asia including Drunk Elephant, NARS, Cle De Peau Beaute, and more. Shedding some of their color cosmetic ranges would leave more room for production and extension of their skincare category.

It’s become the way of the beauty world at the moment to shed under performing brands some of which like Becca and Clarisonic do come as a shock.

I do wonder how Shiseido Asian brands are doing as I know some Korean brands, like Etude House, are suffering at the moment.

I do hope a sale is in the works as I would miss Bare Minerals, Laura Mercier, and Buxom if they decided to close down production completely. Although, I will say that in recent years the brands really haven’t shown their best faces.

I’ll share more news as it becomes available about the fate of these three brands!

Estee Lauder Set to Release Fiscal 2021 Third Quarter Results May 3rd

Estee Lauder will release 2021’s fiscal third quarter results on May 3rd (before the market opens). The conference call will be archived and available to listen at www.elcompanies.com/investors.

It’ll obviously discuss future prospects and recent corporate developments but also, predictions are Estée Lauder will announce $3.90 billion in sales for the current quarter. Obviously, this is a fairly good growth rate for EL as last year they were at 3.35 billion. Keep in mind Estee Lauder has been shedding brands like Becca not to mention last Summer they slashed up to 2,000 jobs. I’m still convinced as we head into August more bad news will break about potential brand’s being closed down be they part of the Estee Lauder family or not.

Estee Lauder recently brought out the final shares of Deciem which is a brand I’m sure contributes to good earnings for them especially during the pandemic when color cosmetics took a backseat and skincare flourished. Of course, this is a prediction only but all signs point to a positive year for Estee Lauder. The lipstick index may be down but sales are still looking good.

I’m eager to see how it pans out and we only have a short time before the info becomes public.

Do you think it was a good third quarter for Estee Lauder?

Which brands do you think contributed to their success?

P&G Increasing Prices On Feminine Care

Sadly, it’s not enough we’re already hit with a pink tax but Procter & Gamble is also increasing prices for feminine care products to offset rising commodity costs starting September. Tampons and maxi pads are just some of the items that will see a price increase in the Fall! If you have children, brace yourself, baby care will also see a rise (diapers, etc…).

P&G released financial figures for the third fiscal quarter this week and broke the news about the price increase. This will impact brands that P&G owns like Tampax, Always, Luvs, Pampers, and more.

P&G blamed commodity costs for the price raise but said the increase will be offset by new product innovations that “add value for consumers”.

Interesting enough their beauty net sales are up 9% and apparently that was due to SK-II sales. And you said James Corden and Chloe Moretz wouldn’t sell Pitera Essence! Who’s laughing now!

Womens razor sales were also up for P&G but men’s were down. Comically they said men’s razors are down “due to decreased shave frequency”. I dunno why I found it funny everyone just said screw it, it’s a pandemic I’m not shaving!

I guess we’re all moving to disposable Etsy pads now or a Diva Cup?

Sephora and Kohl’s Reveal Brands That Will Be Available In Their Weird Relationship

Sephora and Kohl’s have revealed some of the 125 brands that will make appearance in stores today. I don’t judge relationships but I’ll sit here and judge Sephora and Kohl’s weird ass relationship until there’s no room in hell and the dead walk the Earth.

As you know Ulta is moving into Target and Sephora said, “Wow you know what? Let’s move into Kohl’s!” I mean, it’s a step above JCPenney (Oh by the way go read up on the weird conspisracy theory aboiut JCPenny versus JCPenney! Hours of entertainment for the whole family!). Good job guys! Do question why Sephora entered into relationships with JCPenney and Kohl’s. Remember that old Sesame Street One of These Things Doesn’t Belong? skit? That’s pretty much how I feel about these toxic romances that Sephora is having with department stores.

Earlier in the year Sephora announced that they would open in 200 Kohl’s locations with their own separate entry door and the Kohl’s website would also start carrying a selection of brands offered at Sephora starting Fall 2021.

By 2023, Kohls plans to put Sephora locations in 850 stores out of the 1150 locations they have in 49 states. It’s a pretty serious relationship. There may be a ring involved soon and a picket fence!

Today news was released of the brands that would appear in these Sephora stores located in Kohl’s. Sephora does have limited space in the locations so they don’t carry every single brand you’d find online or in freestanding Sephora stores. They will have a good deal of brands though 125 of them to be exact.

Brands include Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty Beauty, Rare Beauty, Summer Friday’s, Makeup by Mario, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Clinique, NARS, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Urban Decay, Ilia, Milk, Tatcha, Drunk Elephant, Kate Somerville, Sol de Janeiro, The Ordinary, The Inky List, Fresh, Briogeo, Bumble and Bumble, Olaplex. Fragrance brands include Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Gucci, Giorgio Armani and Maison Margiela.

I’m actually shocked they are bringing in luxury brands like CT Beauty and Replica. That’s very interesting! The reason for this is luxury beauty brands are hesitant to cross the line between prestige and mass retail but the pandemic has definitely changed things.

The entire brand lineup will launch on the Kohl’s website on Aug. 1. Sephora’s hope is that they’ll reach a new client base as well as their original fans with this new venture.

What do you think of the Sephora Kohl’s relationship?

Is It Time for An Orgasm? Asking for a Friend.

We’re hitting May now! Where did the time go? How did we get here so quickly? Ohhhhh I know! Life can get pretty busy. What was it that Ferris said? Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

That reminds me with Summer looming straight ahead where’s our orgasm at? Our NARS Orgasm that is. I mean, at this point I don’t think there’s anything left that NARS can tint with the pink golden hue of Orgasm but watch them try. What started out as a fantastic blush shade migrated to nail polish, lipgloss, eyeshadow, and more over the last several years. I got up this morning and swept some Orgasm on my cheeks and thought to myself, “Wow! It’s already May and NARS isn’t pimping out some new Orgasm launch!”

Am I disappointed?!

Mmm a little I guess but it could be a good time to lay the shade down for a little rest as NARS has beaten this horse dead. I’m pretty much stocked up on all the things Orgasm at this point. Not sure I need anymore.

Do you?

I wouldn’t be averse to other brands doing some peachy shades for Summer though. I fondly remember the year Bobbi Brown did a beautiful coral collection. It was stunning. I miss color stories so much. Now it’s eyeshadow palettes, eyeshadow palettes, eyeshadow palettes….!

Brands need to bring back color stories!

Do you have hopes for a new NARS Orgasm Collection?
