MAC Sonic Chic: MAC Mineralize Blush Review

I was very excited about MAC’s Sonic Chic release this week. I have plenty of blushes but I can always use more especially unique ones like the Mineralize Blushes that make up the Sonic Chic Collection!

Picture+032 MAC Sonic Chic: MAC Mineralize Blush Review

If you like rich, bold, vibrant, pigmented colors these will obviously appeal to you in a major way! These are silky, blend easy, and offer a amazing color payoff! The only blushes I’ve seen that have a similar texture and pigmentation in comparison would be from NARS. I actually felt like some of the shades were extremely similar actually! The only difference between the two is NARS charges $25 USD where as MAC charges $21 USD!

Sadly, my counter didn’t get the complete selection so I ended up with five of the nine colors. I’m simply dying to see the rest and I’ll be heading over to bug my MA until they get them in stock! The Muse needs to collect them all damnit!

In all seriousness I’d pay close attention to Sonic Chic when making your selections between the three color stories released this month. Since all three collections have released at the same time it’s sometimes easy to over look awesome products and these blushes fall into the awesome category!

These can be a little intimidating for those who prefer a light touch of blush. They are extremely pigmented and have some sincerely extreme payoff but the good news is with a light touch you can easily blend the color out to create a softer look if you desire! So light to wow is completely optional on how you wield your brush!

One of my favorite shades that I picked up is Pleasantry which reminds me of NARS Blush in Desire and Angelika. It’s also very similar to Barbie Loves MAC Don’t Be Shy Blush. It’s a fun bubble gum pink shade that gives a delicious pale pink pop to cheeks!

My next favorite shade would be Merrily reminds me of MAC Beauty Powder Blush in Serenely. It’s a dirty deep red that shows up almost peach on my skin! It’s comparable to NARS Blush in Taos to me. Even though Merrily shows up in the compact as reddish I felt like it applied more peachy!

Next shade I am completely loving is Love Thing! Yum! Lots of pop here people! It’s a muddy burgundy shade that gives a very warm flush to your cheeks.

Gleeful is described as pink with gold but for me it’s a deep, dark reddish brown shade.

And finally Nuance which is a pretty universal shade of peach with traces of gold. This is probably the most subdued shade from the colors I picked up.

Although the blushes do contain a very fine shimmer to them it doesn’t show up on your face at all once blended. These remind me of the MAC Beauty Powder Blush releases because of the bold colors and excellent pigmentation however the texture is quite different as they are baked blushes. I noticed that the lighter shades applied sheer and natural while the darker shades gave a bigger pop of color so if you are a bit scared of color you might want to stick to the lighter shades!

You don’t want to miss out on these! They are truly amazing pieces to add to your collection! MAC did a fabulous job with them! Of course they get a BIG Muse Approval for purchase! Got get ‘em before they disappear!

I really liked these but I dunno if I loved them – maybe because the MA was being a you-know-what while I was swatching so I didn’t buy anything last night even though I also like Nuance and Dainty.

I was also sorely disappointed that the lippies were just eh.. I really wanted to check out the e/s because I don’t have any but from your review, maybe I can pass on these too?? whew, that’ll save me some $$ – woot!

morning lil!

I know :( I really know. I ended up going to mac instead of my counter and the MA’s were horrible :( I normally avoid MAC stores b/c I never really build up much of a relationship with any of the MA’s there as they are bloody b*tchy as hell!

the eyeshadows are not awesome at all in my humblest. I heard ravings about them all week but I am NOT impressed at all. it’s a rerun with a sh*tty formula compared to previous releases. Although many will rave about how pigmented they are I just wasn’t thrilled at all. Dupe colors, weird formula/texture, nope not for me.

People will prob haul them b/c they are unique but I skipped completely. I only have the two shades from the PR kit aside from that I hauled one lipglass and that was it.

I am tempted by the brush that came out with new view. Did you see it? That’s rather awesome.

But really I was disappointed with Electro Flash!

I think it’s understandable the blushes aren’t you as they are pretty WOWWWWWWWWWWWW! And you’re choice in cosmetics is more lighter. Some of the shades were sincerely bold as hell and I don’t see those as a Cookie Approved type of blush hehe!

Although a few were very sheer and nice like Nuance!

Head to nordies or neimans or some place else they offer better CS! Where did you go that they were snotty a store or a counter?

My freaking MA’s at Neimans, Nordies, etc..are awesome but as soon as I hit a store it’s awful! I cower in fear to even ask for a product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps it’s highly unusual to skip a collection. This is prob the first time I skipped a color story since I began collecting mac..that shows you that they aren’t fab :P

Hiya Muse!!

I actually thought that about half of the blushes are ones I’d really like. However, I got a bunch of the Beauty Powder blushes that released earlier this year that I think suited my needs, like Serenely and Sweetness for the bolder colors.

And who says I don’t like bold?! I just have a light hand, I think, LOL.

Oh goodness, I was at Nordie’s and the MA there was a boob (excuse me). And I definitely stay away from the free-standing store as they are vultures! LOL I feel so nervous walking around in there so I prefer the counter. Although I think I’ll have to find another counter location to frequent if this continues on. :D

Hope you have a lovely weekend Muse! I have to get ready for work now.. boo..

I’m kicking myself for not getting at least one of these! They are gorgeous.

the Muse July 11, 2008 at 9:19 am

hey again :)

Beauty Powder Blushes are big time comparable to these although the formula feels a bit lighter on these to me but the color payoff is almost identical.

Serenely and Sweetness are almost dupes of shades in this collection so you’re set ;)

LOL can it be heavier hand time please? I wanna see you sporting really outrageous aqua shadow with a super heavy hand k?

Wow…nordies no kid! Normally I get the a**kiss treatment at Nordies..shocked that it was a bad experience!

ME TOO! god the stores SCARE ME! I can’t believe how intimidating those girls are. I thought I was being nuts but nice to hear others have that experience. They are so in a bad mood everytime I go in!

Enjoy your weekend too my friend :)

I’m @ work..booooo! ;) hehe!

Morning!

I’m still on the fence about Pleasantry.. wonder how close it is to Bobbi Brown’s Pale Pink? Thanks for the post!

hiya miss x!

Morning!

Happy Weekend!

I’m not sure as I don’t have it :( Wish I can compare for you!

It’s a really yummie bubble gum pink!

Hugs!

I usually go for a more subtle blush also, but the bubble gum pink of Pleasantry looks intriguing! Besides, I can always just use a light hand *wink*

OMG! I thought that the store MA’s just disliked me! My last experience at a freestanding store was so horrible, I actually called MAC to complain! It is the closest one to me (45 mins away!)! Oh well, the counter people at Dillards are SO much nicer! The only problem is that you cannot get the Pro pans there for the shadows…

Hopefully I can pick this up tomorrow BEFORE I hit Sephora…or I might be broke before I get there! Hee Hee! Such problems ;)

I’m so exited about these!! Pleasentry, Gentle and Dainty are coming my way I’m soooo curious!! :D

hey tammy!

Hehe ;-) It’s quite sheer on actually not overpowering. I’m wearing it today ;)

AMEN finally more people that claim the same bad experiences. I always thought it was b/c I was short and round. “what’s the short, round, wiggly chick want with MAC?”

hehe!

Oh my gosh that bad? What happened :(

I’ll happily pick up pro pans here for you if you need ‘em! Pro store isn’t far ;) And they aren’t too bad..the freestanding non pro stores are a NIGHTMARE!

I always shop mac counter. They MA’s know how to treat me when I come in! I’m even good friends with my main girl. She gave me her entire gratis bag when the originals came out. What a sweetie!

I went to sephora too..do they do that on purpose do you think? Place mac and sephora within the same vicinity so you’re forced to spend money at both! Did they plan this?

I got the rocker eye kit from BE which is ridiculously cool! :)

*looks in pockets* yup. broke as smoke here!

Oh my! MAC seems to be winning me over slowly. This isn’t out in Oz yet but i’m liking all the colours except Pleasantry. Which colours do you think would look great on my skin as i’m looking for one i can wear from day to night so i’m guessing something i can build up on so it looks neutral during the day.

This isn’t great, my wishlist is increasing!

I’m not a big fan of M.A.C blush
i prefer NARS they have the best blush

Dancinggal July 12, 2008 at 8:19 pm

I’m definately going to check out Merrily. I’m looking for a peachy blush, and Taos looks amazing on my skin, but at $60 a pop for Nars blushes here, I can’t afford it right now! (I have exhibit, which I love, but I want more colours!!!)
Thanks for the tip cupcake!

morning Allysia-May!

hehe :) that’s great news ;) Pleasantry is a bit on the sheer side so won’t be a fab pick for a darker skin tone.

I think Merrily would work awesome for you! It’s a nice solid brunt red/orange that looks peachy on and goes well from day to night ;)

LOL! It’s fab I’m winning you over to the dark side hehe!

hiya dancinggal!

YAK! That’s insane! The price makes me cry out in pain!

Merrily is a great dupe and maybe a bit less in price! If you need help getting NARS give a yell :)

It’s only $25 USD here per a blush!

I love your photo of Pleasantry – makes it so lemming worthy! Tell me, does it apply pink and/or does it turn peach?

Have reserved it with my MAC MA. *titters*
