Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer Review
Hey chicklets!
Sorry, been a really busy day on both Musings and at my office. Sorry about the hiccups today on the site. If you’re experiencing any problems loading the site or with any other features I’d appreciate it if you let me know!
In other news I’m a little behind on a few giveaways, comments, and of course, as always, e-mail.
Anyway!
On to the good stuff….
Anyone try out the new Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer?
Jump!
Too Faced is all about the lips this Summer and has introduced several new liners, a lip primer, and there awesome new Glamour Gloss.
Honestly, I’m not much of a lip primer person so when I seen Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer I was 1. instantly curious, 2. thinking to myself how I didn’t need another step in my already long list of makeup to do items, and 3. laughing inside about how lip primers NEVER work. After all this thinking and speculating I still went ahead and purchased the primer, chalking it up to the fact I needed to tell all of you about it. This is always a good excuse to justify needless beauty spend-age.
What is it?
A lip primer that locks down lip color and prevents fading, bleeding, and creasing.
The Good….
Well color me surprised. I like it. All my prejudices about how lip primers simply don’t work were instantly erased after a single use. The product promises to lock down lip color and prevent fading, bleeding, and creasing. It excels at a few things one of which is allowing lipstick and particularly lipgloss to stick around your lips for a quite a long while. Even if you lick your lips a fair bit like me you’ll be delighted to notice your gloss will stick around regardless.
The formula is much like an eyeshadow primer. Simply a thin consistency white formula that applies transparently. The product fills your lips so all those tiny little lines (not due to age just the lines on your lips that are a normal part of your skin) and imperfections that your lips sport are instantly filled and smoothed over. The primer basically preps your lip area by creating a smooth, even finish on your lips. The texture feels a little like powder mixed with cream however it applies and blends easily onto lips. I strongly suggest applying your gloss or lipstick within a few seconds of application as I noticed if I let it dry down too much it causes major dryness. After that you’re good to go!
I tried it out with Tokidoki Prisma Lip Gloss which slid off my lips within minutes of application but with a little Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer underneath I was good to go for three hours, for this gloss, three hours is ALOT. Even after licking my lips a fair bit my gloss still stayed pretty fresh. Other glosses such as a MAC Lipglass can be prolonged even longer and manage to stay fresh at least an extra two hours on top of the already long wear of the gloss formula. Pretty sweet!
The Bad…..
I thought the primer worked better with glosses than lipsticks. It seemed to cause a little bit of an issue with lipstick for me as the glide of my lipstick wasn’t as easy as it normally is. I also was disappointed it didn’t prevent feathering which is a bit of an issue for me as darker shades of lipstick and gloss tend to migrate on my lip line and this sadly didn’t prevent that so I guess I’ll have to try the new nude lip liner from Too Faced to see if that helps.
Who Might Like It?
- Anyone that wants to bulletproof their lipgloss and lipstick for the long day ahead!
- Anyone that licks their lips alot (you can still embrace the habit but won’t have to worry about your lip product wearin’ away because of it).
Who Might Not Like It?
- Anyone not interested in adding ANOTHER step onto their already long makeup regime.
- Anyone who’s looking for a primer to keep their lipstick or gloss from migrating on their upper lip line.
Final Thoughts…..
Overall, I liked it alot and think it’s a worth haul and addition to your daily makeup routine. I particularly loved how well it worked in conjunction with my glosses as it made the long lasting ones last even longer and allowed the really short wearing ones to stick around for hours. If you need something to keep your gloss or lipstick long wearing for hours on end, Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer is your girl.
Loves it!
