Tarte Amazon Escape Amazonian Clay Eye & Cheek Palette Review & Swatches
The new Tarte Amazon Escape Amazonian Clay Eye & Cheek Palette raced across my desk today. I decided to have a little play with it because girls (and guys) I need an escape. My week is brutal. I’m having a hard time catching up and a trip to the Amazon with Joe at my side is all I need.
This stylish mirrored clutch features eye and cheek essentials infused with Amazonian Clay, sorry Joe’s sweat isn’t technically in the formula…!
This pretty clutch is easy enough to tote around if you please. Made of a faux leather with a snake print design it features Tarte’s signature royal purple color. It has everything you need for looks on the go but I’d LOVE to have some brush applicators as well as that would truly make it travel worthy.
Inside you’ll find a how to get the look card featuring two looks plus two Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush shades exclusive to this palette and six Amazonian Clay Eyeshadows in matte and shimmer finishes.
Amazonian clay supposedly works to reduce surface oil and improve overall texture for easy application and better wear. I can’t specifically say if this works or not as my eyelids aren’t oily but feel free to shout out if you feel it works for you!
Fans of Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush will be delighted with these two exclusive colors. I think these blushes have serious pokemon disease attached to them as everyone I know wants to collect all the shades. The fact they include these colors definitely ups the game and will probably tempt you into a purchase. The colors included are Free (bright warm corally orange) and Exposed (a dusky desert rose).
Exposed and Free
You also get six shades of shade in the mix. These are Tarte’s traditional formula which have been included in many a palette release. They are soft, velvety, have excellent pigmentation, blend, and apply flawlessly. Tarte makes some of the nicest matte’s I’ve tried which is saying something as I hate the finish. They have a silky, buttery smooth feel that translates well onto lids for flawless unpatchy application! I do think these shades are similiar to many colors I already own from Tarte which could or couldn’t be a deal breaker for some. If you tend to purchase Tarte palettes often particularly the Holiday Collections, the shades seem quite dupe-able to me.
Shades you get:
- Canopy (dark chocolate)
- Tribal (rich plum)
- Rare (subtle peach)
- Rope (matte beige)
- Tame (shimmering bone)
- Cameo (shimmering bronze)
Tribal, Camo, Rare
Canopy, Rope, Tame
I tried the first look which suggested Canopy all over the lid and Tribal in the crease. Mmm…I either lack skill (probably the case) or the shades are a little too dark to be paired up together because as you can see in my look I had a hard time contrasting the shades. They blended together well but it’s difficult telling the shades apart. Tarte didn’t suggest it but I added a little Camo on top of Canopy for a little more pop.
Overall, the Tarte Amazon Escape Amazonian Clay Eye & Cheek Palette ($44) is a nice selection of products that proves stylishly travel friendly and a great introduction to the brand if you don’t already own a ton of Tarte or never tried it before. I think it proves tempting for those wanting more shades of Tarte’s popular blush particularly if you want to collectio ALL the shades. However, some of the shadows you might want to cross check against your current stash shades as these seem like colors I already own from past palette releases.
Please excuse my super red, cracking nose in the photos below….I have a cold! Boo! I’m surprised my nose has fallen off I’ve been blowing it so hard!
Great fun for the Tarte newbies.
But older Tarte fans might find it a little lacking.
