Urban Decay Petite Heat Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post but all opinions are my own.

Urban Decay Petite Heat Palette ($29) is a new all matte eyeshadow palette inspired by the original Urban Decay Heat Eyeshadow Palette that launched last Summer. I consider Petite Heat a companion piece to the original palette since I thought it would contain a good deal of transitional shades that the original lacked.

I think most of a agree that the main issue with the Heat Eyeshadow Palette was the fact that many of the colors were gorgeous but also difficult to use together since they didn’t provide much contrast and they ran all together. I consider Petite Heat quite a nice source of shades that will compliment ones in that palette however, there’s not a lot of newness here and some of the prime real estate in the palette is taken over by two lighter highlighting shades.

Let’s take a closer look at my review and swatches below.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette ($42) is the brand’s latest 14 pan eyeshadow palette that launched recently for the Spring 2018 season on their website and will later in March be available at Sephora, Ulta, and Macy’s.

I realize some people are groaning agony about another nude palette but purchasing this for myself was a no brainer as I love all the shades in it. To me it’s a desert rose selection of shades that reminds me of the recently released Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette. It’s not that colors at all resemble each other it’s just that there are certain shades here that remind me of the desert at dusk which was the idea behind Huda’s palette. There are some very pretty dusky mauve roses here combined with sultry browns, shimmering golds, browns, and peaches. If you glance it at quickly the colors just jive together beautifully but there are a few odd shades here that you might question like Orange Soda which is a light matte peach. But somehow, someway, the shades just work together and I honestly had no trouble thinking up ways to combine the shades into a look.

The shadows are a range of mostly matte and softly pressed metallics and light iridescent shades. For the most part though matte does dominate here but I’m fine with that as they make a nice base and start to your look and with the metallics and iridescent shades a lovely compliment that can you can come in with later to finish off your look.

Reaching E.L.F.’s free shipping minimum can be a pain in the butt sometimes. I know, I know, E.L.F. is cheap but sometimes I go on their site and I see like one or two things I want which I know will never get me to the minimum free shipping and I end up exiting out rather than spending $25 on stuff I don’t need or want just to get free shipping.

Good news today, everything is shipping free with no minimum for the next two days! This couldn’t have come at a better time as I really want to try their new blushes I blogged yesterday.

Storybook Cosmetics Sold at Ulta

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Storybook Cosmetics has confirmed today that they will be sold at Ulta.com! If you aren’t familiar with Storybook Cosmetics you’re for a treat especially if you’re a fan girl or guy.

Identical triplet sisters, Erin, Mandy and Missy Maynard not only love makeup but are crazed fangirls like me who bring their fandoms to life in the form of makeup and beauty accessories. In 2016, the brand went viral and so far they have been a happily ever life of creating Harry Potter wand-shaped makeup brushes and palettes inspired by Willy Wonka. I mean does it get any better than this? Who doesn’t want their fandom created into the perfect makeup collection. That, is in fact, what Storybook Cosmetics does. A love of books, makeup, and geekery is entwined into the making of their full line of makeup and beauty products.

Today they announced on Instagram that they entire line will be available at ulta.com As in right now! It just literally became available on Ulta’s website!

I haven’t personally tried any of their items as of yet but I love the idea of being able to purchase it at Ulta. Speaking of which, Ulta is killing it with all the new lines they are bring in lately. Just last week they started carrying Kopari Beauty and Korean brand Mamonde. Not to mention last year they added MAC, NARS Cosmetics, and quite a few other Estee Lauder brands to their main line.

It’s an exciting time for Ulta as they seem to be growing by leaps and bounds with each day.

I look forward to seeing Storybook Cosmetics in stores soon and as of today you can shop it online at ulta.com.

Are you a Storybook Cosmetics fan?

What do you think of this exciting news?

We Should Try The New E.L.F. Primer-Infused Blush

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

E.L.F. Primer-Infused Blush is a new-long-wearing formula that comes with a built in primer to keep your blush looks flawless and pretty all damn day. Best part? The super affordable six dollar price tag. E.L.F. Cosmetics launched these bad boys in four shade selections for the Spring 2018 and all of them appear to be matte in finish.

Apparently they have a second-skin finish so your blush looks flawless and pretty throughout the day. I thought the quite looked like Bare Minerals Gen Nude Powder Blush that just launched. Hey, that can’t be a coincidence right? As we all know how much E.L.F. loves copycatting the latest makeup launches.

I did notice that I only see one shade I like as the others appear a little muddy for my tastes but count me curious. I do want to check these out for myself. I’m noticing that as I get older my skin seems to eat blush up and it fades fast. No idea why!? Maybe too much moisture? As I tend to over hydrate myself since I have drier skin. But honestly, that’s not new. I’ve always hydrate quite well. So, why the fading issue is the question here. A mystery that might just remain a mystery forever.

Shades include:

  • Always Rosy
  • Always Cheeky
  • Always Spicy
  • Always Fiery

I must say the six dollar price tag is quite a refreshing change as lately E.L.F.’s prices have been going up, up, and up! So, that price is quite a sweet spot for the beauty budget world.

E.L.F Primer-Infused Blush is all yours and available now at www.elfcosmetics.com.

Stay tuned for a review soon!
