Prescriptives made a wise choice dubbing it’s new primer “Flawless Face” as it indeed delivers on the promise of a flawless face.
The Muse has been burnt by primers before and particularly isn’t a fond fan of Smashbox Photofinish. Can you say itchy and acne? Ack! I normally chalk up almost all primers and compare them to Smashbox Photofinish which makes me generally wary of attempting to test any out but I’m sure glad I said yes to Prescriptives Flalwess Face Primer as indeed it’s a great find!
I don’t need a primer to cover lines or pores but I do need one to help keep my foundation fresh, aid my foundation to apply easily, and allow my foundation to look flawless when on. Prescriptives Flawless Face Primer does all three quite successfully!
I hate silicon based primers since they tend to pill on my face and also cause me to itch and break out. Pilling, if you’re not familiar with the word, is an effect of product coming off the skin in little rolls and clumps that resembles skin…yuk! Eye creams are legendary for pilling and primers in my case as well. Prescriptives does have a bit of silicon feel to it’s formula but it manages to feel moisturizing when applied and does not pill. This is oil free so it absorbs easily without leaving behind a greasy feeling or causing itching and acne later on!
The primer gives skin a smooth, even texture to allow foundation to apply easily and seamlessly while making it last longer. It’s quite thick so it should work quite well at filling pores, fine lines, and other problem areas you might have. For me it’s a combination product as it acts as a primer but also illuminates my face due to it’s pearl like finish. I really like this one and I imagine I’ll repurchase it once I’m done.
Overall, the product allows my foundation to glide on easily, keeps my foundation fresh for 2 to 3 hours longer than usual, and allows my face to look flawless and perfect so indeed it keeps many of the promises it makes.
Who should try it?
- Anyone will large pores, fine lines, or imperfections that need extra prepping prior to foundation use.
- Those who desire a flawless, even complexion.
- Anyone who wants their foundation to look and stay fresh for hours on end.

The Muse sure is working hard at finding good budget beauty finds. I’m trying guys, I’m really trying. Many of you have e-mailed me asking please can I do more budget beauty finds and I’ve been seriously doing my homework and searching out cheaper options that work well for the price but it’s hard work and about 95% of the time I end up disappointed.
One such case of disappointment recently was my test of mark Shimmer Cheek Blossom. This one really sounded like a nice find plus the price sure was sweet but sadly it’s a no go.
Read ahead to find out what I thought!
mark is Avon’s younger sister company that has a wide variety of items available for a younger crowd of makeup junkies. Almost everything I’ve every purchased from mark has been a winner as the quality is great, the price is wonderful, and quality is most definitely there.
Recently, when I noticed the release of mark Shimmer Cheek Blossom I decided to give it a go since I’m quite a big fan of mark Glossblossom I automatically assumed that mark Shimmer Cheek Blossom would be a rave. Sadly, it turned out to be a waste of $6.
mark Shimmer Cheek Blossom mimics Smashbox O-Glow offering a tinted gel blush that reacts with your skin’s chemistry to give your face a natural pink flush. On the plus side of the pink flush you’ll also get a hint of golden shimmer, take that Smashbox O-Glow! Pink cheeks and gold shimmer! w00t! Yes, well the gold shimmer effect may be there but the pink cheeks not so much.
The texture of the product feels pretty much like Smashbox O-Glow with that slightly silicon feel but a good deal more gel-like and quite greasy so don’t try applying this over foundation as it’ll smear terribly. I tried out a dab at first with no results so of course I proceeded to apply a good dime size amount on my cheeks to see if that would help, again nothing. Aside from a faint gold shimmer the product fails at offering a pink flush, in short it does absolutely nothing.
The idea is fabulous combining a pink stain with faint golden shimmer but sadly it fails to work at all and does absolutely nothing aside from leaving behind a greasy feeling and a tiny bit of gold sparkle.
At $6 USD it’s not like I broke the bank with the purchase but I can’t help but feel what a waste it was. Truly a budget beauty find gone terribly wrong.
Skip this one, not worth your cash!
No stash, but definitely a trash.

I recently did an FOTD
for you using Givenchy Sari Glow Blush in Maharani Orange, Givenchy Precious Sari Glittering Eyeshadow in Maharani Gold, and Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in Maharani Henna and today I’ll be bringing you another look using some of the items from the Givenchy Spring Collection 2009.
Jump ahead to have a peek!
Since I’ve already done a warmer looking using some of the Givenchy Spring Collection, I thought a cooler order was in order. For the cooler look I used Givenchy Sari Glow Blush in Maharani Pink and Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in Maharani Rose. I was tempted to use Givenchy Precious Sari Glittering Eyeshadow in Maharani Silver but I thought it didn’t quite go so well with all the pink so I opted for a wash of color using a few MAC eye shadows in various pink shades.
The pink blush wasn’t as popping as I thought it would be and it came out as a basic pink shade on my cheeks, quite flattering really but nothing as bold as I originally though. I’m absolutely in deeper lust now after trying out the Maharani Rose lippie! It’s a stunning shade and quite lovely for Spring.
Here’s the basic look I created using the above listed items:
My quest for inexpensive beauty finds has led me to Avon Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalizing Cream which has a near perfect rating on Make Up Alley and a really huge fan base on the Avon website.
If the MUA’ers like it that has to account for some of it’s creditability wouldn’t you agree?
At $32 USD for a 1.7oz jar I doubt you’ll find a cheaper night cream option, jump ahead and more about Avon Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalizing Cream.
Avon Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalizing Cream Review is a lightweight gel-like cream that works while you sleep to rejuvenate sleep, hence the name eh?
The price can’t be beat as this not only renews and rejuvenates but also helps to visibly shrink pores and erase fine lines from the face. Gets better and better doesn’t it? The formula is a gel cream which absorbs easily into the skin with absolutely no effort, my dry skin seems to like it alot as it’s cooling and glides into my skin beautifully. It carries a fresh scent which is somewhat floral, almost rose-like, very pleasant.
I honestly can’t speak for reducing pores and fine lines but the moisturizer did work well at renewing my tired, dry skin so I woke up with soft, silky skin minus dry, flaky patches that are customary in the Winter for me. Normally I use Philosophy When Hope is Night Enough for my night cream but I quickly ditched it in place of Lush Skin Nanny for the anti-aging benefits. A few months ago I discovered Steamcream (review coming soon…) which became my night cream but honestly speaking Steamcream has absolutely no anti-aging benefits to speak of. Taking into consideration all of this I’ve decided to make Avon Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalizing Cream my nightly cream until the jar is finished as I hope to report back soon that I see as many visible improvements as reviews have claimed on both MUA and the Avon site. So far I’m quite pleased that it works well with my dry skin and absorbs quickly, the benefits of anti-aging ingredients and promises of renewed skin are added bonuses.
All in all if you’re looking for a budget friendly night cream with quite a few bells and whistles I do think checking out Avon Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalizing Cream could be worth checking into!
