Smashbox Masquerade Eye Shadow Palette in Masquerade Review and Swatches

Ahhhh Smashbox evokes the spirit of Fall 2007 when Givenchy Cache Cache Eye Palette released but let me tell you the spirit of Fall 2010 is WAY kinder in price, size, and formula than it was back in 2007.

Smashbox Masquerade Eye Shadow Palette should appeal to those looking for an exotic, smoky, Fall eye look this upcoming season.

Check it!

A palette featuring nine shades of Smashbox Eyeshadow in erotic shades of green, brown, and other Fall friendly colors!

Now let me tell you, the palette is ingenious because of its uber awesome setup. It comes with nine shades of shadow but each is set into the palette as a trio so you aren’t stumbling around with the palette trying to figure out which shades will work well together. Simply select a line from the palette and work with those three shades to create a perfectly gorgeous eye look! Simple! For people like the Muse who can’t match color up worth a damn this is an ideal solution to not becoming completely panicked and at a loss as you stare down at a gorgeous array of color. Now mind you, no one says you can’t take all nine shades and mix and match them to your heart’s content but it’s nice to know that each shade selection is grouped into a single eye look making the palette easier to use for the not so imaginative types like myself.

You get a total of nine shades with the palette which are a matte peach, shimmering blackened plum, matte taupe, metallic khaki, shimmering gold, bronze, metallic cabernet, shimmering nave, and matte bone. The shades are all heavily pigmented (aside from a few of the matte shades which are softer in color), blend easily without becoming muddy, and wear very smooth and silky. The texture is velvet-like and very smooth for easy application on the lid.

I find the shades most suitable for evening wearin’ however sophisticated work looks can be easily created as well. The palette design is a shiny navy blue compact with a full size mirror. The well for each shadow is a generous size so dipping in with your brush is hassle free plus it’s not messy since no cream is involved, merely nine powder shades.

You have to be a tad careful with looks created if you sport some serious dark circles as the shadows are pretty rich and create more darker, elaborate looks which could accentuate dark circles, older eyes, fine lines, etc….

  • Anyone who wants dramatic, bold eye makeup.
  • Anyone who wants to have an option to create several looks from one eye palette.
  • Anyone who likes rich shades of brown, plum, and green.
  • Anyone look for beautiful Fall shades that are both warm and rich!

  • Anyone with darker circles, fine lines, or older eyes (the colors are extra rich so proper prepping under your eye is vital keeping eyes fresh and awake without having the shadows make you look tired or older).
  • Anyone who can’t pull off bolder, darker shades of shadow!

The palette is ideal for those seeking warm, rich Fall looks to compliment upcoming seasonal fashions. Although the shades are bolder they still manage to create sophisticated, work friendly looks and of course wear well in the evening. Those with brown eyes will find the shades compliment well and give eyes a certain mysterious, exotic aura. I liked the palette alot as the shades all had a very nice formula and just the way it was set up so I wasn’t playing a guessing game about creating looks appealed to me in a major way.

I think it’s worth a haul for those who want bolder looks for the cooler weather ahead!

I like how they grouped the colors that work together in one line. It allows it to not be so overwhelming to create looks.
I unconsciously started singing Masquerade from Phantom as I was reading this post…it was kind of weird when I realized what I was doing XD

This looks nice, but I have dark cirlces and I will have to pass as I know it will make me look tired.
I am excited about the blush/highlighter palette. Will wait for your review. Thank you

Pretty palette, and great idea from Smashbox to group the colors this way!

Oh wow. I love this already. I saw this online a while back but the trio thing is something so clever that I never noticed!! So you get.. 6 sets of three? (And if you go diagonal, you get 8 sets! haha.) I like. The only thing is that I know I cant wear that red toned brown. And… it probably costs a bomb.
