Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Blusher Review, Swatches, Photos

Holika Holika is a Korean brand with a Harry Potter-ish kinda theme. The stores are decked out in shades of purple and black, employee uniforms have a witch-y vibe, and the brand takes lotions and potions to a new, magical level. I think the entire magic, witch, goth theme draws alot of attention and gives the brand its own little niche plus chalk up the traditional kawaii packaging that Korean and Asian brands in general embrace and you have yourself a happy helping of fabulous for makeup junkies.

I’ve reviewed a few Holika Holika products and today I hauled out the Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Blusher that I picked up a several weeks ago. This blush will remind you of the packaging of the Aqua Petit Jelly I reviewed a few months ago.

Take a look!

A cream gel blush from Korean brand Holika Holika.

Yes, the packaging is incredibly adorable on these but the actual product is practical and useful as well! Each blush comes in a small glass jelly-like jar. Remember those old school jello style cups or jello molds? This is what the packaging looks like on these. Each is a weighty glass jar with a screw top lid that holds a very generous amount of blush that will last literally ages thanks to not only the size but also the formula.

The blushes come in two shades a brilliant shade of orange and a pink-ish melon. The colors aren’t heavily pigmented but the formula builds easily for a light flush or a nicer pop of color pay off. I love how easily these build and also enjoy how mistake-proof the formula is thanks to the sheer, subtler color pay off which can go from light to bold in a mere swipe. I find the product starts off a bit dense at first but becomes quickly melt-y on fingers and blends onto cheeks easily and fuss-free. The formula leaves a soft, velvety finish and just the right amount of color without ever looking over done no matter how many times you swipe it.

Sadly, Holika Holika is sold within Korea and a few select Asian countries so you do have to do a little online shopping and sleuthing around to get the best deal possible on Evil-bay.

Wear time is a little iffy here. I find they’ll last all day if I’m inside keeping cool but head outside in the heat and they fade mighty fast.

  • Anyone who wants a cream blush that builds easily.
  • Those who like cream blush formulas.

  • Those who want a waterproof, sweatproof formula (I find they fade fast if I am outside in the heat but wear just fine, at least five hours, if I am inside).
  • Those who aren’t keen shopping online, dealing with airmail costs, etc…(these are an Asian based product not sold within the US).

Of course, the main appeal was the packaging for me but in the end the actual blush turned into a rather fabulous little find. I was a little disappointed the wear time isn’t so fab if I’m out and about in the Summer sun but they last for hours and ages indoors which is a plus as I work in a cool environment and I’m awful about touching up! I also find the formula super friendly as it allows me to build and build and build without coming out of the experience looking like a clown.

Loves ’em!

Well worth a haul!

I got mine directly from Korea however I’ve seen them on E-bay for around $10 which isn’t too bad a deal.

Anyone try?
