I’m a Lush Coal Face Junkie Even Though I Have Dry Skin!

I’ve used Lush Coal Face for at least 10 years now…even thought it’s meant for dry skin!

Lush Coal Face (as well as Dark Angels) is one of very favorite skincare products.

This is powdered charcoal basically pressed into a soap-like form that works to absorb oil while easing redness and blemishes.

Blemishes, Oil, Redness? I suffer from none of these issues but a little Coal Face once or twice a week acts as a great way to mildly exfoliate my face and remove dry, flaky areas in a SNAP! I swear by it in the Winter when my cheeks are patchy.

Some folks aren’t keen on the scent but I don’t mind at all, it kinda has an ashy, smoky scent going on. The bar itself lathers up and has small tiny pieces of gritty coal in the mix that attack drier areas in a flash, breaking away dry skin and leaving behind a smoother surface.

But dry skin users beware…it mattifies like the devil and it’ll suck any and all moisture right out of your skin so follow up with a highly hydrating moisturizer after use for the best results.

And oily skin? Be scared, be very, very scared!

This little bundle of joy will quickly battle oily areas in a flash and get your skin shine-free.

It’s one of my beauty secrets…not the smartest one mind you but hey, if it works right?

…. I have never heard of this and I go into LUSH all the time! I really do need to pay more attention to the other products and not just the pretty sparkly ones :). I have dry patches on my face in the winter time as well. I’m so going to look into this. Thanks for the review!

Coal face became my new favorite cleanser! I’ve been fighting acne since I was 14, and since using coal face, fresh farmacy, and tea tree toner my skin has never looked better! I started using lush skincare in january, and I won’t be changing it for awhile.
My skin is oily, sensitive, and acne prone.

Love it! Works great on my oily sensitive middle aged skin too. 🙂

I love Coal Face! I used it during a really bad breakout period, and it made my skin so much better! But I found that it super dried out my skin, and made my skin peel and feel really tight after use. Even with a good moisturizer. And I had SUPER oily skin. After that experience I stopped using it. Looking at the ingredients now, I find that it has something i’m trying to avoid in my cleanser: sodium lauryl sulfate. So i’m sticking to my cheap Neutrogena bars and organic soap from the bulk store!

I’m definitely in the same boat as you, the cleanser and moisturizer (boscia black line) I use both have the whole charcoal thing going on, and even tho I don’t have oily skin they seem to work fabulously for me 🙂 I can’t wait to add Mac’s volcanic ash exfoliator into the mix :D!

I’ve never heard of this, but now I feel like I have to try it.

sadly, after the first use it made my skin really itchy and red bumps started to appear. it’s not suitable for people with sensitive skin.
