Lush Happy Happy Joy Joy Hair Conditioner Review

Lush Happy Happy Joy Joy Conditioner might have you tapping your foot and going all Ren and Stimpy on me after you’ve tried it. This delightful conditioner smells just like Gorilla Orange Blossom Perfume with notes of neroli, rose, grapefruit, rosewood, and orange flower absolute.

It not only conditions but fragrances hair with beautiful orange blossom so your locks are left smelling simply gorgeous after use!

Lush Happy Happy Joy Joy gets down to basics and conditions hair with almond milk, jojoba oil, rose and orange flower waters. It lacks silicones so like American Cream it feels less than hydrating in longer hair but I promise you’ll come out of the experience with softer, tangle free hair.

This is a thick, creamy conditioner however, it feels a little drier on wet hair. You’ll want to spend a little time working it through your hair for the best results. What it lacks in silicone it makes up for in the fact that it doesn’t weight hair down or cause build up. This rinses clean away so if you have issues with oily/greasy hair due to conditioner no worries this will rinse clean out and won’t build up in hair over time. The results are softer, lighter locks that are scented with a lingering orange blossom fragrance!

I admit my longer hair craves silicones in conditioner but they also cause MAJOR build up. That’s why I generally like and use American Cream daily. Happy Happy Joy Joy is a refreshing change from American Cream due to the lovely fragrance. The soft, feminine fragrance of orange blossom leaves hair smelling incredible and has a really strong linger so people will def lean in and ask what you’re wearing. It makes an excellent companion to Fair Trade Honey Shampoo as well!

If you have longer hair I wouldn’t necessarily suggest it for daily use if you’re new to Lush. I say this because I think the shock of a silicone-free conditioner is something that needs an adjustment period. I remember my first use with American Cream was absolutely awful. I’m just glad I stuck with it as it became one of my HG (holy grail) hair products of choice. If you already know and love Lush Conditioner you’ll be perfectly fine with Happy Happy Joy Joy! It’s an excellent conditioner that leaves hair soft and fragranced sans icky build up!

Loves it!

hey muse! I have long (and fine, and delicate :O ) hair and my first experience with american cream was also lackluster. I would try to work it through my hair and ends and leave it sit a few minutes- was I doing anything wrong? I want so badly to quit silicone but it’s really tough! and anything new from lush is so terribly tempting. Failing that, do you have another fav conditioner that REALLY detangles? I’ve been sampling lots of things but I can’t pin down that magic HG.

no not at all alanna sounds like you have it right. American Cream is an odd one, it takes some adjustment. I have LONG wavy curls and American Cream wasn’t cutting it for a long time but I finally adjusted to it. Anything else seems to build up really badly in my hair so I have to clarify once or twice a week…when I use shampoos/conditioners from lush my build up is ZERO! another conditioner from Lush? or just a conditioner in general? I really like Wen! I haven’t had much build up from it and it conditions/cleanses like a boss!

Oh interesting, my first use of American Cream (using the New! bar ash shampoo) was the absolute best my hair has ever looked.

The conditioner sounds amazing, and the name is adorable too! What has your experience its silicon-free conditioners been like?

    • the Muse

hi nana, overall good…! my hair feels much lighter, less build up, and softer overall 😀

Is there sodium lauryl sulfate in this conditioner? I know its in their American Cream. That dries out my hair like no other. Caused a lot of split ends. I’m not sure why they insist on putting this ingredient in a conditioner. In shampoos I understand but why conditioners?

  • Iris

I want to try both this and American Cream. A light conditioner is just the thing my hair needs. is American Cream also light and won’t weigh hair down?

If you had to pick either American Cream or Happy Happy Joy Joy, which one would you pick and why ? Also which of the two is thicker ? Thank you! Xoxoo

Hi there! American Cream is thicker and probably a little more moisturizing but not by much because it doesn’t contain silicones. Happy Happy Joy Joy is runnier, less hydrating, and doesn’t do well getting out tangles but it is a lovely fragrance that lingers long! I’d pick it just because I prefer the fragrance over American Cream (which smells nice but not as nice as Happy Happy Joy Joy). Hope this helps!? 😀
