Revlon Juicy Papaya Colorburst Lip Butter

Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya is one of four new shades that Revlon released with their new Summer 2013 Collection entitled Pacific Coast.

I’m not sure why but a few reviews I read likened to Juicy Papaya to Peach Parfait sans shimmer and I think that’s pretty misleading. Juicy Papaya is more of a nude muted coral where as Peach Parfait is a golden coral.

Take a look!

I mentioned in an earlier post I did think that these new Lip Butter aren’t a similar consistency as the original formula. They seem sheerer to me, less creamy, and more balm-like. That goes for Juicy Papaya which sports a very balm-y texture with a sheerer color pay off.

Needless to say you probably know me well enough to know that I don’t typically migrate to shades like this one. In the tube it looks like a gorgeous muted coral with an orange undertone however, on lips the shade is a nude mod peach. I don’t really love shades like this as they give my lips a deathly finish. However, I have to say Juicy Papaya is actually quite a nice shade on a whole. The color will be excellent when you want to place less an emphasis on your lips and more boldness on your eyes. It’ll be a beautiful addition to both a bold or subtle eye look.

The color is very sheer but builds to a decent milky peach on lips. The formula does seem to have a knack for accentuating every little nook, cranny, and line in my lips so I suggest a little clear on top for a smoother appearance.

Overall, Juicy Papaya is a surprising color that’s worth taking a look at.

I was at Target today and snagged Pink Lemonade and Sorbet but they were out of this one and the Watermelon shade. I’m really disappointed with Pink Lemonade; all it gives me is a frosty shine that I don’t like. But Sorbet is pretty but I agree that the texture is different, I had to really tug to get it to apply. 🙁

(also, Muse, I *Finally* found some of the NYC Applelicious lip balms. I’ve been looking for those since you posted about them *ages* ago! My Target only had five shades so I’ll have to keep hunting for the other five.)

I hated PL too Blue, it’s just such a mod nude that’s hard to pull off 🙁 yeah, these colors def have some sort of consistency issues as far as the formula goes….something is very off.

YAYYYY did you like them!? 🙂

  • Olivia

I liked it at first, but now I think it’s forgettable. Looks nice on you though!

  • Jess

I love this shade and I was afraid you’d hate it since I know you’re not usually fan of this kind of color. I’m so glad you like it, though, and WOW, it looks fab on you!

aw thanks jess you’re too kind! yeah, you got me pegged ;-D def don’t like shades like this but actually proved very wearable 😀

  • Kelly

I actually really like that color. I am a red head, with fair skin, do you think I could get away with it? My hair isn’t an orangy tone, more auburny.

I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it! I’m going through a huge coral phase so I just had to have it. Juicy papaya is a perfect name for this color. It is pretty sheer but builds up to a pretty and perfect coral for the lips. This is my go-to lip product right now. The only down side is my tube crapped out and won’t click back down. Hopefully its a fluke!

  • Swarnali B

oh wow this is such a nice peachy colour! It’s looking great on you, muse! I think I am going to buy this! 🙂

    • the Muse

thanks swarnali 🙂 It’s a nice delicate peach! was surprised it looked so nice, expected deathly mod!

I got all the other new Lip Butters but this one because I heard it was a strange color and didn’t have great color payoff. Unfortunately I hated Pink Lemonade which was far too light and had almost no pigmentation whatsoever. Will go back to get Juicy Papaya though because I’ve been searching for a coral and this swatch looks promising! I also agree with you about it emphasizing every line in your lips!

hi lydia, yes, pink lemon aid is a heinous shade, kinda zombie looking :-/

  • Angie

hi! I love this color but I was wondering does it have glitter? I have peach parfait and it’s very glittery and the glitter is quite hard to take off. Also, I don’t like the glittery feel to my lips.
