MAC All About Orange Lipstick Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

MAC All About Orange Lipsticks

The lipsticks is the MAC All About Orange Collection are a little difficult for me to pull off but I gotta admit I had a blast trying. Oranges, tangerine, sheer shades of peach…this collection has it all! In a range of seven shades I’m sure you’ll find at least one “orange” shade to indulge in from this collection!

Let’s take a look!

The MAC All About Orange Lipsticks I tried were Flamingo, Neon Orange, Razzle Dazzler, and Sushi Kiss. I find them all very interesting shades because they aren’t your typical outrageous oranges. Going by these shades you can see that MAC covered a wider range of tones here so there’s a little something for everyone to indulge in whether you’re fair or darker.

Sushi Kiss :Lipstick is a satin finish (which feels more like a cream finish to me) in a lighter shade of orange-y peach with an opaque finsih. It doesn’t have to easy glide I like in lipstick and feels rather dry on my mouth. I apply it and run my finger over my lips for a smoother finish because I feel like it creeps into the natural lines of my lips. A little gloss (as used in my photo) aided the shade in looking its best on my drier lips.

Razzledazzler Lipstick is a lustre finish however, again I feel like it feels more like a cream to me. This has a light shade of coral with elements of both peacn and pink. Again, I experienced a bit of dryness from the shade and felt it looked best with gloss on top.

Neon Orange Lipstick captures the spirit of this collection! This is a bright shade of vibrant tangerine orange with an amplified finish. The color is fully opaque, vibrant, and yes, in some ways neon! The formula is creamier and less drying than the other two shades above and wears very strong for a solid five hours without fading for me.

Flamingo Lipstick is a milky coral again, with a pink undertone. It is the lightest of the four shades I tried with the weakest color pay off. But don’t let that fool you, it applies quite nicely and looks very natural.

I must admit out of the four shades I didn’t really love any of them. I felt the shades a bit to milky, too creamy, and just not my cup of tea. It felt like many of them were best suited to fairer, cooler skin than my own with Neon Orange being the exception.

These prove that All About Orange really covers a range and variety of the color though!

Any of these interest you?

They launch June 6th on counters and are available at maccosmetics.com

P.S. I looked baked in these photos. Sorry! Been staying out way past my bedtime this week!

    Hi Muse,
My lips are super dry too. They even start peeling when I use Korres Lip butter glaze. Most of the lipsticks make tons of dead skin show up after 1 hour of application on the lips. Any suggestions?

    • the Muse

exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! lip balm every single night before bed. 🙂 you can also try a moisturizing lip mask, etude house makes a nice cherry one!

    • Keilexandra

Have you tried the Too Faced lipsticks? I have the same problem with super dry lips, formulations like Revlon Lip Butters and Clinique Chubby Sticks are major fails for me (cracking and peeling), and the Too Faced formula that I just discovered may be a HG in spice spice baby (a perfect MLBB shade for me).

I’m personally not a huge fan of lip gloss because of the shiny look, and it’s frustrating to try so many cream lipsticks that wear fine for about 20 minutes but make my lips drier and drier throughout the day. Too Faced doesn’t do that to me, even when it dries away.

Great review. All of the lipsticks look really nice on you! I think I might just get flamingo!

  • yelena

sushi kiss and flamingo look AMAZING on you!!!

you should totally wear them on a regular basis!

    • the Muse

aw thanks yelena I honestly hated them hehe but thank you!

  • hb13

My pale, cool coloring has me shy away from orange colours. Pink-toned corals I can pull off (e.g. Bobbi Brown Pink Peony) therefore I will have a look at Flamingo. Some of the other colours look surprisingly good with lip gloss. I am not a fan of the drying effect of the few Mac lipsticks I own. Even less so with winter creeping up on us in the Southern hemisphere.

  • yelena

u hated the color or texture? color looks amazing on you seriously! I can never find colors like these that match my skin tone (NC42). on me they would look loud and weird. looks no natural and pretty on u!

    • the Muse

thanks yelena! kinda both, color+texture but they were fun to try ;-D thank YOU!

  • heather

I would have spent a ton of money on this collection had not seen your reviews. My wallet thanks you!

  • effortgirl

I was deliberating between Neon Orange and Tart & Trendy. The swatches of these 2 I found on MAC Korea’s blog were very pretty. Muse, you’re spot on abt the texture of Sushi Kiss. Forgot to exfoliate lips on the day I tried Sushi Kiss and the lippie emphasized my dry peeling lips!

  • Merry

I agree with you Muse. I got Sushi Kiss and Flamingo and they were dry and the texture is terrible. Not to mention I hated the colors. I’m sending mine back.

    • the Muse

can’t blame you merry 🙁 the texture just wasn’t fab 🙁

  • Olivia

Neeeed neon orange…maybe another one. I have to check it out in person. Orange lips are my must-have!

  • Icaria

Of the four I could probably pull off Razzle Dazzler but now I’m not sure about the texture. I’m still going to have a look at it and see. Now I actually like them all on you. It’s really a matter of what you’re comfortable with because they all look good! 🙂

  • Mykeshia

We always see ourselves in different lights but I actually like all of them on you! I really like Flamingo on you.

  • phoebe

oooh, this is what i’ve been waiting for! the swatches are so pretty, and i’m seriously considering getting the neon orange. it looks pretty on you, muse! 😉

  • Majick

Muse, thankyou for the review. I think neon orange is in my future since I went to use my NARS heatwave about a week or so ago and it had “turned” on me- bummer. I was going to replace it with same but love the Mac amplified lippies.

  • Clio

These actually look cute on you! Of course, what you enjoy and feel happy in is much more important than how other people think they look.

Sushi Kiss looks kind of like Revlon Smoked Peach (a confusing name — do they mean “Smoked Salmon”? What the hell is a smoked peach??). Smoked Peach always looks so cute, natural, and pinkish on swatches online, but when I swipe it on my hand, it looks so fake and downright orange! I’d have the same reservations about these, even though you make them look so wearable and sweet.

    • the Muse

aw thanks clio you’re too kind. agreed! lol…! they wanted to be different with the same. I have to take a look at that shade as revlon makes some fairly nice lippies! I don’t blame you, they are difficult colors to pull off imho!

  • Iona

wow all of those lipstick look amazing on you! Too be honest I thought that some wouldn’t suit you, but how wrong was I? You’ve inspired me to be a bit bolder! xx

  • narda

Oh My! I am speechless! These lipsticks are so divine. I want nothing more for my lipstick than these brands!

  • heather

I think these look great on you too! I thought iI’d have to pass on these but now I’m curious to try since they work nicely on you. Thanks for making me spend even more $$ on makeup, Muse!!
