Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Cleansing Conditioner

Loved on my Herbal Essences Naked Cleansing Conditioner but not sure your color treated hair will like it? Meet Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Cleansing Conditioner which apparently prevents fading and is formulated for color treated hair.

Aside from strips of bright color on the weekends and chalking I technically never dyed my hair, like ever but that won’t keep me from wanting to try Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Cleansing Conditioner because they tell me it is scented like roses. Shut the hell up! Really? I’m picturing it having that awesome fruity floral scent we commonly associate with Herbal Essences and they are tricking us with the promise of rose.

Either way this sulfate-free cleansing conditioner works much like Wen’s formula, acting as later-free shampoo and conditioner all in one which lifts away dirt and oil but allows color to stay vibrant and moist.

Supposedly the formula helps protect your color from dreaded wash out.

It launches at drugstores now or grab it online at drugstore.com.

Roses?!?! I MUST try it. I’m such a rose fan that I even like Happy Bath Day and other ones you say smell like scented toilet paper, heh heh.

LOL I love roses…LOVE but Happy Bath Day turns me off I’m so so sorry 🙂

I have already purchased this, and I got it before I dyed my hair a dark violet. Never used WEN, so I cannot speak to it’s similiarties, but I will say, it did not prevent or lessen the dreaded wash out. I do realize that the color I choose would have some lightening, but, this did fade VERY quickly, could be the hair dye itself, as I have never tried this color before. Red stayed better in my hair than this color. Just thought I would put it out there, the product itself did make my hair soft, but it was still dried out after styled.

thanks for updating Georgia very very helpful for those that color treat!

Hi Georgia. I have tried the Wen and had to give it up because it made my hair limp and lifeless and also dried out the ends. I have color treated hair so I’m always on the lookout for something like this. Can you tell me please if this made your hair greasy at the roots? Thanks!

      • Georgia

No not greasy at all….which surprised me. I like the idea of this…but can’t say I would purchase again.

      Hi Georgia,

Being a person who does her hair funky colors all the time, especially violets, I’ll say that there is no way to prevent bleeding of the color. It typically fades very very fast. The only way to prolong it is if you add a little hair color into your shampoo/conditioner. It deposits a little color each time at the same time it’s being washed away. Make sense?

Anyway, I do that pretty much with all my conditioners, and I’ve done this with the Naked Cleansing Conditioner. Works just fine!

I got my hair colored at my salon. So what would you suggest for a box dye that I could add in to my conditioner ? This idea is great by the way!!!!!!

        • Sarah

Ahhh no don’t do that with boxed color…once you mix boxed color you only have a few hours to use it, it would be way too expensive to purchase and use boxed color every time you wash you hair. Try something like manic panic instead to add to your conditioner.

My go-to cleansing conditioner is Suave Coconut Conditioner, and it works GREAT. So cheap and my hair never feels gross. But my hair is uber-bleached, so it’s sort of an exception.

That being said I’m all over rose-y things, so I might have to give this a try!

  • Heidi

I really like this product. I hope the success will drive WEN prices down. I would buy WEN if it was at least 20% cheaper. This truely smells like roses! Now I am not into floral. I would like to see a variety of scents come out.

I almost picked this up today, but I couldn’t get review to load while I was in the store, so I decided to wait 🙂
I can tell you it smells just like the Color Me Happy shampoo and conditioner, which is a lot like the original pink HE (I remember they said it was rosehip scented back in the 90s, but now they just call it roses).
Anyway, it’s pretty similar to the original HE scent, not particularly rosey to my nose.
Sadly, the Color Me Happy shampoo stripped my hair color and made it brassy, so I resisted this today.

Would this give my hair a deep clean (remove styling products) with out stripping the color?
