Etude House Ever Dew Boosting Oil Review
Etude House Ever Dew Boosting Oil is one of two facial oils that recently launched in Korea as part of Etude House’s permanent skincare collection. Facial oils were pretty huge around here the last few years but I see the trend coming to a slow down lately although, it looks like the trend might see some pick up in drugstores considering Physicians Formula just recently launched an Argan Oil.
None the less, trend or no, they have been apart of my skincare regime since I have drier skin.
Etude House Ever Dew Boosting Oil though as an interesting and different formula that I personally think of as an “unnecessary skincare step”.
See if you agree!
Etude House Ever Dew Boosting Oil comes housed in a frosted pink gloss bottle with dropper. Be careful where you store it as if you’re clumsy and drop it chances are it will shatter! It’s cute and it’s very Etude House princess-y-like in packaging if you’re one for putting a lot of importance on packaging, I know I am.
It’s actually not your typical facial oil but it is however, a boosting oil. It apparently contains Rosehip Oil but for the most part it’s made up of water, glycerin, and a lot of fragrance. If you’re sensitive the sweet fruity fragrance might completely turn you off. I personally liked it but even I can admit that the scent is far from subtle and very unnecessary in a skincare product.
So what the heck is a boosting oil anyway? It’s basically like a toner or a serum. You can use this in the morning or the even as the first step in your skincare regime. It’s actually perfectly fine to use in the AM since it has a high water base which allows it to absorb super fast without being greasy or oily or too heavy the way some facial oils are. I hesitate to even call it an oil due to the thinner, watery texture and the fact that it isn’t exactly providing a huge increase in moisture to my skin. It’s basically a “boosting” product that preps skin for moisturizer. It adds a bit of moisture that will allow your facial moisturizer to absorb more easily. See why I call it an unnecessary skincare step? If you wanna skip out on toner you can use this instead and it’ll lightly hydrate skin and create a smoother, slightly moist surface for your moisturizer. Aside from that, it does absolutely nothing else!
I actually prefer misting, following up with my toner, and proceeding to apply my other skincare products in the AM and/or PM. This for me isn’t a product I need as I don’t want to replace my toner as I like my toner and even feel like my toner is more hydrating than this is! This is supposed to add moisture and set the path for other skincare but honestly, it’s only lighting hydrating so it’s not doing much of anything.
Cute?
Sure.
Necessary?
Absolutely not.
If you’re happy with your toner, you really don’t need to indulge in Etude House Ever Dew Boosting Oil (especially if you dislike highly fragranced skincare product). This is a bit of a gimmicky skincare product that isn’t going to do much of anything for your skin.
