Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer

Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer is a new 2-in-1 Foundation Concealer hybrid that Tarte is introducing this week with the Miracles from the Amazon 6 Piece Collection that debuts on QVC as a Today’s Special Value on February 13th.

As exciting as the Tarte Miracles from the Amazon 6 Piece Collection is, I think what makes it most exciting is the new Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer that it comes with. Earlier last week I was discussing brands doing quite a few of these new hybrid formulas that acts as a foundation and a concealer all one one so I’m happy to see Tarte launching one.

Let’s take a look!

Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer comes housed in a 0.51 chubby square glass jar with dropper. The packaging resembles Tarte’s Maracuja Oil but instead of a purple glass bottle, this is actually clear and you can see the foundation right through it. Do be careful, as I dunno about you but I’m clumsy, so if you’re applying this in the bathroom you might tip it over and the packaging will likely shatter so do beware during use. I like the packaging a lot though! The dropper included is quite nice and makes it really a mess free way to get the product out of the bottle.

There are two things that I noticed right away with Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer, the scent and how light the shades ran. Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer will be available in six shades and originally I got the Light one. This was a little too light for me so I ended up getting my hands on the Light Medium shade and this was too light as well. So beware when choosing a shade you might want to step up one shade. Thankfully, light medium blended out well but I’m curious what medium looks like.

At first I thought this would be a fluid but the texture is actually creamy and thickish which is exactly how I like my foundations or BB Creams. No worries, although a creamy texture it applies and blends out easily with a very lightweight soft finish. Although hydrating, this has a smoother, satiny set that doesn’t adhere to drier areas and looks very smooth and even on my drier skin. It wears on me for about five hours before showing minor signs of fading.

The coverage surprised me….For something that’s meant to act as a concealer it doesn’t reach the full coverage mark. It is customizable so it can be applied very sheer or builds easily to almost medium coverage. As for concealer, well, I don’t think they are necessarily saying this can double up as an under eye concealer but they are saying it’ll work to conceal complexion imperfections such as dullness, redness, sun damage, etc….It should do well with most of those issues but if you have acne, acne scarring, or other major issues to conceal this doesn’t exactly offer the benefits of a full coverage foundation.

One of the main benefits of the foundation is it gives me a very bright, even appearance. It’s a very healthy looking foundation that’s natural and smooth looking. I wouldn’t say it’s a no skin look but it comes close to one!

I mentioned above about the fragrance. This does have a very unusual fragrance. It’s not scented likes flowers or sweet or fruit, it kinda smells a bit plastic or medicine-like. It does go away once applied but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive.

Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer isn’t quite a foundation concealer….! It is however, a very nice creamy foundation product that offers custom coverage of either sheer to almost medium coverage that brightens, evens out skin tone, and creates a nice flawless finish. I dunno if this one is groundbreaking but I know a lot of Tarte fans who will likely love it!

Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer launches later this week on QVC.com exclusive in the Tarte Miracles from the Amazon 6 Piece Collection.

Wow – that does run light…. I think the light/medium looks like a good choice for you, but I would like to see the medium shade as well…. You and I are skintwins, both in type and shade, so I trust your reviews! Now – to figure out what shade to get… I get a bit darker in summer so I’m tempted to go with medium, but…..

Have you seen swatches of all the shades online, Muse? Been looking and I haven’t found any yet….

    • Isabella Muse

yes! Light medium might just be the best choice for me but I purchased the medium set for myself (it should be arriving this week) so I’ll update you on that shade, I haven’t Kim sorry but I’ll def swatch my medium when it arrives!

  • Maria

Hi Muse. How do you apply it with the dropper ? I have it but did not use it yet. It does not come with instructions. Do you apply directly onto brush or on your hand. Please inform. Thanks.

    • Isabella Muse

you can’t really apply it with the dropper. I drop a small amount on the back of my hand (two drops) and I swirl my brush in it and apply to my face. Hope this helps!?

  • Sissi

Oh I have not even heard of this foundation yet! I bet I would love it! I could net a miracle lol! 😉

  • christin

That really does look light. The light shade looks like fair to me. I bought a set from tarte on Qvc before and I got the shade fair and it matches me decently. It’s a little pale but can be corrected with bronzer and such. The light medium also looks like it’d be a good match for me because I typically am a yellow based light.

  • Fancie

The formula doesn’t sound too bad but the color range sounds pretty limited. I hope Tarte adds more shades in the future

  • Marisa

These shades are off. Tarte’s Light-Medium foundation shades are always pink toned.

  • Amber

I got that fair and haven’t worn it yet but in the bottle it looks like the bb tinted primer that I loved and matched me perfectly.

  • Kimmwc03

It is very light in shade. I got the fair, but even with how pasty white I am now, it is just too fair. I hope I can change shades, since I got the auto-delivery.

I never noticed the scent until I read this post. It doesn’t bother me much though.

  • Katherine

It looks like the TSV pricing is already available (though the product is waitlisted)? Is the price supposed to be less on Friday? Or can we reserve it now with the TSV pricing and it will actually be available on Friday?

    • Isabella Muse

it’s actually available on Friday and it will be in stock at that time if it is showing on a wait list now it should be in stock friday am!

  • Bonnie S

My pasty-white self is LOVING the lightness of those shades. Definitely something to try at my next trip to Sephora!

  • Claudia

I use Mac NC35 Prolongwear foundation & I can’t decide if I should order the light-medium or the medium. What do you suggest?

  • Judy

Which shade did you think works better for you – light/medium or medium? The light/medium looks yellow compared to the pinker tone in the medium (in the pictures).

    • Isabella Muse

light medium worked better for me. not really pink for the medium, it’s more golden beige.

  • Jessica

I ordered this set early and have had it for a couple of weeks now. I ordered it in light-medium and I think it fits me pretty well, I didn’t think it was too light. I’m usually around NC25 at my lightest here in the winter, I lose a lot of color this season but I gain it back fast so I’m totally cool with it being half the usual foundation size 🙂

  • Tasha

Do u know if this is more lighter or thicker than Tarte old maracuja miracle foundation? I love the old maracuja foundation and sad that they discontinued it. And I noticed this doesn’t have any SPF.

    • Isabella Muse

I’m not really sure as I never tried last year’s version, the tube one you’re talking about right Tasha? I didn’t try that one! It’s actually still sold on QVC I think!

  • Gina

I wear Fairly Medium in bareMinerals Original Foundation, I thought Light in this foundation might work but now I’m not sure (I have pink undertones). Do you think Light would be too “Light”? I’m also afraid of the darker ones looking too yellow on me.

    • Isabella Muse

I’m not really sure on the bare minerals shades gina….! I’m not familiar with their colors that well. I keep suggesting to everyone to go a shade up as the shades are very light in my opinion. Hope this helps!?

      • Gina

For some reason I thought you were familiar with BE, oh well thanks anyway Isabella! I’t so frustrating trying to buy a brand new foundation online before it’s ever been released. Sigh.

        • Isabella Muse

no, the minerals make me itchy 🙁 so I don’t wear them. Sorry 🙁 reader’s might be able to help so subscribe to comments just in case someone has a better rec 🙂

  • Gina

BTW thank you for swatching these, it’s so helpful as opposed to trying to figure them out at QVC.com.

  • Allyson

I really want to try this but I just can’t decide what shade to get. I wear revlon colorstay in 200 nude so I’m not sure if that shade is closer to light-medium or medium. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Amanda

I’m actually really glad this runs light. I have problems finding a foundation light enough for me but I bought the set anyway because it’s so cute (I love the mosaic theme!) Thanks for the review! (*˘`*)♡

  • Ruth

I contacted Tarte about the weird smell (almost like house paint). Their customer service team says that the smell is not normal and they are sending me a replacement. Did all the shades you tested have the strong weird smell? Seems like that might be a manufacturing defect. Some of the reviews I read about this product didn’t even mention the smell and others pointed it out so I’m not sure all the bottles are the same. If it isn’t a defect, maybe they will address the issue if enough people complain about the smell. I like the foundation otherwise but I’m not sure I can live with that smell even though it does fade after a bit.

Love your reviews. You’ve stopped me from making some bad purchases.

    • Isabella Muse

I tried three shades all smelled the same to me Ruth. Hope your bottle arrives without the scent! Update me and let me know? aw thank you! that’s very flattering to hear!

      • Ruth

Sorry to report that the new bottle smells just as bad. I also had another email from Tarte. The product development team states that the scent is due to the Maracuja oil and other botanicals. I find that hard to believe since I have a bottle of the oil and it has very little scent. The foundcealer smells like house paint to me. I’m not sure I can get past the smell. All day I wonder if I smell like paint. Guess I should cancel the next two auto shipments.

  • Gina

Mine has a smell too but it’s not at all offensive to me. I think some people might be more sensitive to it than others?

BTW I ordered Light, and I do like the shade. The foundation is nice, but the bottle and dropper are awful and messy. It’s hard to get the dropper to work, and I’m always afraid I’m going to drop it while trying to get it to work.

  • Sabrina

hi, im a little late in the game and just heard about this…Do you know if this is good for oily skin? I have very oily skin, but heard great things about this Foundcealer.

  • Taylor

Do you know if the foundation and brush that were in the qvc special value set will be available for individual sale later on? I didn’t get the chance to order it! Thanks for the review it was very helpful!

    • Isabella Muse

i can’t say for sure but about 99% of the time they offer these items later on as individual purchases so I imagine yes Taylor 🙂 my pleasure, glad it helped!

I’m on my second bottle of Tarte’s new foundcealer in light medium. It is not pink-toned. Perhaps it’s just the choice of products I’ve used from Tarte, and I’ve not come across a pink-toned light medium to date. I love Tarte products. I’m 62 and need all the help I can get. Fortunately, Tarte gives it. I do prefer this product to the other Tarte foundations I’ve tried. It covers fairly well and gives a soft finish. I’m just mad about the Tarte palettes for eye and cheeks. The colors are stunning yet natural. I use the LipSurgence and love it. The mascara is fine, but I’ve not found the right formulation so far. I still prefer Guerlain mascara at this point. I can comfortably recommended Tarte’s foundcealer.
