Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil Review
There comes a day in ever makeup lover’s life when products like Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil ($20) comes in damn handy! At first, Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil was a total nay for me but the more I use it the more it becomes an essential part of my lipstick and gloss routine especially for shades that simply DO NOT want to apply correctly.
I was testing out Marc Jacobs Scandal Lip Creme Lipstick this month and no matter how I applied, the shade always had a knack for just sinking into the natural lines of my lips. Now, I don’t have finer lines around or on my lips yet. Sure, they make an appearance around my eyes but finer lines around my lips, face, or on my the skin of my lips aren’t really a sign of aging I’ve yet had the pleasure of experiencing as of yet. However, like everyone else, I have natural lip lines! I haven’t yet met a person who has completely smooth lips. In most cases those lines aren’t a problem but sometimes you run into a lipstick shade or a gloss or lipstick formula that LOVES creeping into those natural lines therefore giving the appearance of a less than smooth lip look. Not cool.
What to do, what to do!?
Lip balm helps but and I’m a big fan of Lip Insurance as well! Or now I have Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil which is ideal to prep and fill those pesky lines!
Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil is a transparent, clear lip primer inspired by Urban Decay Ozone 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil. It’s actually a multitasking demon according to marketing that prevents feathering, corrects mistakes, and fills lines. Hell, Urban Decay says you can even use it around your eyes to fill up pesky lines before concealer. Personally, I wouldn’t attempt it. It’s a little too dense and dry for the delicate skin under your eyes in my experience. Heck it can even to whisk away mascara smears. The texture is waxy (think of those wax crayons you get with Easter egg dying kits) and isn’t exactly hydrating even though it apparently contains Jojoba. It has no fragrance or flavor.
At first application I HATED it. Too dense, too dry, too draggy…not good. The formula does soften up ever so slightly with a few uses but still remains fairly dry and dense but it does apply a hell of a lot easier once the formula warms up. Interesting enough it may feel dry but doesn’t suck moisture from my lips and it does indeed make the perfect base for lipsticks and glosses that need a little helping hand. This is one of those tools you want in your arsenal for use with bold, bright colors as it allows them to apply smoothly with a perfect, flawless finish that won’t creep or migrate around your mouth. It holds and seals lip color in place plus it allows for even, smooth application. Marc Jacob Scandal is a bold, intense purple which once I apply it appears as if I a child was writing on a wall in the kitchen! Uneven, creeping into my natural lip lines, and trying oh so hard to migrate to my upper lip line this is a shade that’s difficult to apply evenly and has a finish that really needs a helping hand! Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil to the rescue! This allows the color to apply evenly, smoothly, and it keeps it within my natural lip line so it isn’t creeping or migrating around my upper lip line. Perfection!
I can’t help but think that maybe I’d have enjoyed the Urban Decay Revolution Lipglosses a little more if I was using this little handy pencil under them!
For those that need a little help with their natural or aging lip lines I think you’ll find the Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil a handy little tool. It’s not a forgivable formula as it is dense and it is dry and in some cases a bit draggy during application but it does a fine job of making bold, bright shades look flawless and perfect on lips which results in gorgeous looking lips. I can sacrifice for that!
The Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil is available now at urbandecay.com and gets a launch shortly at Sephora, Ulta, and Macys.
