About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Just added myself to that list. This is the first blush/powder release that actually has me excited in a long time.

  • Zoey

Do you know if they will have this at Sephora or is it only through the Hourglass website? Thank you for the tip about the waiting list!

    • Isabella Muse

I THINK it’ll be on Sephora’s site but can’t confirm Zoey! I don’t have official info from Hourglass yet!

      • Katie

They replied on their Instagram that yes Sephora would be carrying it! I found the waitlist late and it was already full so I am praying they don’t sell out on Sephora too! They do not have an official release time yet though, I had to email to ask. I don’t own any of these but the Dim light so I think this is a great way to try them all without forking out the $35-$45 for them individually 🙂

Haha already bought mine! was coming back to say ohh the irony!

It’s on Sephoras website for VIB/VIB Rogue. I have most of these and only want to try the strobe lighting powder. Is that really worth buying for $80.00? Will the strobe lighting powder be sold separately at some point?

  • Aimee

I’m kind of mad because I own both palettes so far, but this has so many repeat shades!

  • Andrew

I feel like I’m in the minority here; I’m just really not impressed with the ambient lighting powders and don’t understand the massive fuss. Yes they’re silky, yes they give a nice glow, but I can think of at least five other powders that do the same.

Maybe I’m just a cynic haha.

i’m with you andrew. beautiful powders, but definitely not the only ones out there.

  • Alice

I have the Ambient Lighting Blush Palette, Ambient Lighting Palette, and Diffused Light already, so sadly I don’t think it’s worth it for me. It looks beautiful and I am slightly tempted though.

  • Robin

Not purchasing. I have the ambient palette and I likie it, but the reviews on the blush were not that great. I’m happy with the cheek pops by Clinique with my ambient lighting palette.

  • Maria

The shades look pretty. But the price is expensive. I looked on the website and noticed that the second ingredient is synthetic. I hope Tarte comes out with a blush palette like the last 2years.

    • Jennifer

I second that. I used the last twoTarte palettes so much. I like the look of Hourglass blushes but Tarte blushes last longer on me.

  • Christine

This looks amazing, love their Radiant Magenta blush, it’s one of my favorites. Been wanting to add more to my collection 🙂

  • Cheryl

i am not so much interested in the blush, but I have read a lot about the finishing powders and have gone back and forth on buying them. They are just so expensive for such a small amount of product! I have read that Makeup Revolution’s ambient palette is a dupe for this trio, but even that ends up being $25, for a drugstore palette, as the shipping costs as much as the product! Do you know df any dupes for the hourglass palette that are readily available in the U.S. for a reasonable price? Andrew mentioned other options….I would love some suggestions! Thank you!

I have both Dim Light and Luminous Flush and they are lovely but I have to admit that I hardly ever use either. Partially (re: Dim Light) it’s because I just don’t use powders that much (i.e,. at all) and can’t figure out how/why to use it. Luminous Flush I am going to try and start using more in the fall. It feels more like a fall color to me. But overall, I feel like I got sucked in by the hype about these products and the beautiful packaging and don’t exactly get all the hoop-la. Definitely not getting the palette. (Yay, $80 saved!)
