Missha Signature Super Light Foundation4

Missha Signature Super Light Foundation is a new fluid foundation that launched in Korean a few months ago. Fluid Foundations are trending at the moment as it seems myself and the rest of the makeup world is obsessed with seamless, natural coverage that looks and appears skin-like. It’s kinda what we’ve been waiting for our entire makeup life isn’t it? Smooth, even coverage that just looks like your skin. No cakiness, no dryness, just smooth, flawlessness.

Sure, there are tons of foundations on the market that promise to do that but so few exceed at it. I also thing we’re in the midst of a foundation evolution because foundation formulas seem to have mad a huge turn around the last three years or so. They’ve become lighter, they’ve become longer wearing, they’ve become more user friendly, and above all else they’ve become even more flawless than I personally can every remember them being.

And that, well that’s a good thing yes?

Missha Signature Super Light Foundation

Missha Signature Super Light Foundation is a fluid foundation which is infused with five floral ingredients to give skin a brighter appearance. I can’t speak for it actually visibly brightening skin as the shade I selected kinda dulled my skin out as I went into a purchase blindly. This is available in four shade selections and I got the last shade which is W23 and a orange-y peach beige that wasn’t quite a good match for my skin tone.

This comes housed in a 1 oz glass ombre bottle with an attached wand for application. This isn’t a dropper applicator it is however, a wand with a tiny ball at the end that allows you to drip a small amount onto the back of your hand or you can apply using that ball but I would suggest just using it as a dropper of sorts. You can use the foundation in conjunction with the Missha Professional Oval Makeup Brush I recently reviews as I do believe this provides the best finish especially for drier skin folks like myself. I suggest this because the foundation has a really fast setting time and almost instantly sets to a powder finish. As soon as I apply the formula morphs immediately and goes from liquid to a matte powdery texture. Needless to say you could imagine I wasn’t loving the powder finish on my drier skin!

My ideal fluid foundation formula comes in the form of It Cosmetics CC+ Veil Beauty Fluid Foundation. This is light, seamless, and lightly hydrating without creating shine or oil. Unfortunately Missha’s Signature Super Light Foundation has a long way to go to mimic such a formula. It is quite a good deal more pigmented compared to the It Cosmetics formula though which is good if you desire more coverage. I’m just personally not a fan of liquid to powder finishes. I feel somehow a powder finish defeats the purpose of the fluid formula somehow.

My skin has some shine lately since I require a lot less moisture come the warmer weather. However, I have some dryness and I felt this particular formula accentuated that dryness. I also felt like the shade which wasn’t a great match for me to begin with ended up dulling my skin out. I just looked a little too made up and orange with this foundation on. It’s a foundation that isn’t quite as seamless as I had hoped for. It does wear very long at around 7 hours before fading which is a huge plus in its favor.

I think on an oilier skin type than my own this could prove a dream product. But for drier skin folks like myself Missha Signature Super Light Foundation isn’t quite the formula for us! I also felt like it took away slightly from the idea of a fluid foundation with the powder-y set and finish. It proved a little difficult to blend out as well due to that powder finish which is why I do suggest using it with the Missha Oval Makeup Brush as this seems to sheer the consistency out and smooth it to a more perfect airbrushed finish where as I struggled to do so with regular brushes or my fingers.

All in all I admit to be slightly disappointed with this formula! But hey, there are PLENTY of more fluid foundations in the makeup sea to try yes?

I haven’t tried this one yet, but the Tony Moly skin tint foundation seems similar, but more moisturizing. My flaky skin actually likes it a lot better than the super rich BCdation All Master from them, so you might want to check it out!

Hello! I just bought this in the same shade which W23 usually works on me. And I also got the oil version, supposedly more hidrating, have you tried that one? I’m anxiously waiting for my package X)
