Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Concealer1

Serum foundations had their day in the sun but at the moment what’s really popular is serum concealers! I recently decided that I wanted to check out Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Concealer because you dry eyes, serum, seems a good cocktail yes?

I’m really enjoying Bare Minerals Bare Skin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer so the next logical step for me was to try out Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Concealer because I’m a Bobbi fan girl so it made sense to me. Well, that and I’m also a concealer junkie as well!

Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Concealer sounds promising with a formula that promises to not only conceal but also to reduce dark circles and repair eyes by giving them a much needed boost of moisture so the area under your eyes looks smoother, plumper, and more importantly refreshed.

Be prepared when going to a counter as they are going to want to sell you both the Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Concealer and the Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector. I wasn’t really wanting to buy both as I think a corrector plus concealer on top is a little too much product for me but I ended up purchasing both since it was a Nordstrom Triple Points day or at least that’s the excuse I’m sticking with.

Bobbi’s colors always confuse me as they are either too dark or too light. I decided rather than play a guessing game with the shades I’d let the makeup artist pick my shade out. She choose Cool Sand which, to me, is just a little too light but Sand would have been too dark so go figure. It does brighten up my eye area up dramatically BUT if I apply too much it looks chalky and pasty.

Anyway….

This concealer formula is highly misleading. I expected something very hydrating because not only does something that apparently is serum-like in nature sound hydrating but also because Bobbi’s demographic is more mature. Keeping that in mind you’d think that the formula would be better suited for drier, finely lined aging eyes. Not so much….I wouldn’t say it is dry by any means but it isn’t hydrating either and it creases horribly within minutes of applying it. It’s a thinner, creamy consistency that sets to a satiny finish and for me, I think that’s part of the reason it creases. Pigmentation is fair enough but I wouldn’t say it provides enough coverage to completely conceal dark circles so you might want to pick up the corrector too for the best results.

At $40, I wouldn’t say I noticed any visible changes under my eyes with daily use. They still look puffy, they still have finer lines, and yeah, my dark circles are still there so as far as a serum treatment, well, I’m not sure how long I’ll have to use it to experience any major chances. For me, this disappointed because it simply wasn’t hydrating enough and creases horribly within moments of applying it. I need something way more creamier, way more hydrating, and most important something that won’t crease into every single little line I have under my eyes.

Love you so much Bobbi but not loving this concealer.

Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Concealer is available now on counters or at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Another concealer that isn’t great! I’m a fellow girl with dark circles and fine lines underneath my eyes. Is there a concealer you could recommend?! You’re the concealer guru, Muse!

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure. Update me when you tried them, I’d love to hear your experience!

  • Fatima

Great Review, I am waiting for you to find the best of best in concealers ( I check your concealer reviews before I get tempted on purchasing a new concealer), as soon as you find one- I’ll be the first one to get it 😀 However, I do like bye bye under eye concealer by It cosmetics.

    • Isabella Muse

I think I’ve already found it Fatima 🙂 Def love the Em one and use it every single day! I’d say that’s my HG! Been using it for nearly two years and haven’t yet found anything that rivals it!!!!!!!!! I like Bye Bye as well 🙂 great stuff and def high on my list of awesome!

      • Fatima

Thanks Muse, Do you have any idea from where we can find Em cosmetics in Canada? I would love to try it..

        • Isabella Muse

They ship Internationally but there is no store location that sells it sadly. I buy it online typically. I think they have one free standing store in Manhattan but I’ve never been there tbh!

  • Lee-Anne

Disappointing to hear as was thinking of trying. I wasn’t hugely impressed by my samples of their serum foundation either! Like you I don’t like too much product under my eyes. I do tend to find BB regular corrector can crease on me. I do have dark circles but sometimes think that looks better than caked up under eyes!

Interested also in your comments about being prepared to be recommended the corrector and concealer. Did they also recommend the hydrating eye cream beforehand?

When I was a teen I used to use Rimmel stick concealer – now called Hide the Blemish. Am tempted to give that a try again!

    • Isabella Muse

I agree! I’ll take dark circles versus caking on a ton of concealer and corrector under my eyes. I think caking product on makes things look much, much worst. They did indeed haha 🙂 But of course, I guess that’s to be expected. Hm! I’ll have to check that Rimmel out maybe it’ll work better for me than this $40 concealer 😀 that would be ironic!

I got a free sample of this from Sephora and tried it for the first time yesterday. I could definitely still see my purple under eye bags peeking through after one layer, but I was afraid to add more since it had already sunk into all the fine lines under my eyes. I’m 31 so my fine lines aren’t TOO bad yet, but I can only imagine how bad it would look on someone with more mature skin than myself.

    • Isabella Muse

Leigh, same problem here! I have finer lines but nothing TOO crazy however, this sunk into those lines and made me look even older haha!

  • Daphne

You should try Charlotte Tilbury’s new mini miracle eye wand, everyone is praising it as an awesome full coverage concealer, comes with a nifty eye cream too 😀

    • Isabella Muse

Have you tried it??? It looks lovely but worried about the “light reflecting pigments”

      • Daphne

Not yet, but I’m thinking of buying it soon but there aren’t many reviews of it yet so we’ll see haha. But people really seem to like it,and I don’t think the light reflecting pigments would be a problem, I’ve seen it in videos and it’s not overly shimmery, It’s probably there just to add more coverage; people say that it gives the same effect as if you’ve used a brightening corrector underneath without the extra fuss 🙂

        • Isabella Muse

interesting. I’m going to wait until Nordstrom gets it and try it out! Thanks for the rec ;-D

  • Fancie

I’m still dying to try this lol. I work at a Bobbi counter and every demo I’ve done with the new concealers and correctors has turned out with amazing results. I’m so surprised you struggled with it because all of the clients I’ve tried them on were all mature with lots of fine lines and it performed well. Ironically, I’m not the biggest fan of her original concealer though for the same reasons you mentioned above lol. I don’t really find it drying but it’s thick as hell and creases on me like no tomorrow no matter what I do. I’m starting to think her concealers might just be too creamy overall for some of us

    • Isabella Muse

holy cow you do!? I never knew that about you, Fancie! 😀 awwww I wish it worked for me but many it creased badly 🙁

  • Celeste Johnson

I actually use this with my bare minerals newly released concealer and they are a match made in heaven! I have dark circles and I have to correct first unfortunately…

The finish they give off together is just so natural! I might also try that EM concealer as well

  • Kristen

You know, I tried the BB serum foundation and absolutely fell in love– Even at $65, it was something I absolutely could not pass up. I was wondering about the serum corrector since I want so badly to like her regular corrector due to the fact that there are so many shades and, also, not many cosmetic companies even make corrector… I have been meaning to try the serum corrector hoping it wouldn’t be as dry and cakey as the original formula… I guess I’ll go give it a try at the counter but yeah- I was hoping the whole “serum” line would be good for dry under-eye areas…

  • Emily

Awh man! I’m bummed this didn’t work out for you, cause my experiences with products always seem to be a lot like yours! Haha! I’m getting this concealer as a sample in my Sephora order that’s on the way and I’ve never tried a serum concealer before, so I was questionable. I hope it turns out to be okay…. But if it doesn’t it was free so that’s okay. Sephora only had the shade Honey, so I’m sure it’s probably gonna be too dark for my skin (I’m NW 15/20 in MAC foundations, so pretty fair), and that’s too bad because I’ve got horrid dark circles most of the time. But thanks for posting the review cause I was curious to see how this concealer works out! My favorite under eye concealers have always been MAC Pro Longwear concealer and NYX HD Photogenic concealer.

    • Isabella Muse

aw sorry Emily but who knows you might love it! 🙂 I enjoy Pro Longwear myself but my HG is Em the Great Cover Up! Love that stuff 🙂 good moist coverage for my dry eyes! Good Luck with the BB and let me know if it works for you!

  • Barbara

A friend said she uses this as a base to hold the concealer and a brightener. She then adds concealer on top, and together they give her a brighter longer lasting look.

  • Rebecca Kremer

I went on here hoping you would give some advice about how to use this. Sadly, I feel the same and it’s expensive. I will try it a few more times. So disappointed.

    • Isabella Muse

I don’t really have any special technique I’m using for application. Just applying with the sponge and patting with fingers. What advice were you looking for? Sorry to hear it. I was too!
