It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream3

It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream ($48) is It Cosmetics first every moisturizer and first venture into the world of skincare. As soon as it launched on 12/15 I quickly placed an order for it on QVC.com as I’m a total It Girl and I had to try it for myself.

Confidence in a Cream is a moisturizer for all skin types even sensitive ones according to the brand with a formula that hydrates, restores radiance, reduces the appearance of pores, and even addresses uneven texture and discolorations.

Let’s take a look!

It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream

It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream is a like for me but oh woe is me the jar packaging! Why!? On that note I will say you might want to grab a spatula from one of your other moisturizers or even purchase a batch of them off ebay.com to use so you aren’t touching the moisturizer. But even if you aren’t touching the moisturizer it still is exposed to the air each time you open it. So yeah, a tube would have much, much better packaging.

Packaging aside this is a delightful little moisturizer and I’m quite enjoying it but some aspects proved disappointing. It’s packed with some amazing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, ceramides, and other antioxidants. It apparently also contains colloidal oatmeal which approves the texture of skin.

I’m not sure how well sensitive users will do with this as it does contain orange oil and does have a fresh, citrus smell which was subtle but still there none the less. The fragrance and just the moisturizer formula on a whole reminded me of Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream but not as moisturizing. This isn’t a surprise though because many It Cosmetics products are ahead of their time for a reason, they are made in Korea and as many of us know Korea and many other Asian countries are light year’s ahead of us in terms of makeup, beauty, and skincare.

According to It it was developed by plastic surgeons and is an all around formula to aid in rejuvenating skin. You can use this as either an evening or a daily moisturizer. Personally I have drier skin at the moment, ugh winter right? I felt like it didn’t quite cut it as a night time moisturizer for me. It just wasn’t as rich and hydrating as I had hoped for. I think it works best as a daily moisturizer for me personally as it hydrates, softens, and smooths my skin and wears well under my makeup without creating shine or oil. I thought the formula, this is going to sound weird, absorbed almost a little too quickly. It’s a thicker gel-like consistency and almost immediately on contact with skin it sinks right in. That’s great right? But it somehow lacks moisturizing properties due to this quick absorption. That’s why I prefer it as a day cream as it’s nice light moisture, nothing too rich or greasy, but in the evening it isn’t quite doing a good job of “repairing” or even moisturizing my skin overnight.

There’s a quote on the It Cosmetics site from Jamie which states you’ll see visible results right away. I can’t say anything visibly happened to make me say, “WOW! My skin looks amazing!” I think it’s a rather nice, lightly hydrating facial cream but there’s nothing else going on here, that I noticed, which has me recommending you go out and immediately purchase this.

If you’re curious or you just want a moisturizer that works well under makeup I’d say It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream is a nice little addition to your skincare wardrobe. If you’re expecting visible results from this like reduction in pore size or even seeing finer lines magically disappear, well, you might be disappointed. Who knows? Over years of use it might just keep your skin looking younger but sadly, I haven’t been using it years yet so I can’t say.

For me, it was a bit of a disappointment. I think I expected it to be a moisturizer that not only hydrated well but also one that retained moisture so my duller skin would look revived. In the end, it’s just a quick absorbing moisturizer with a lot of really great ingredients that likely won’t stand up well due to the jar packaging.

I feel bad because as an It Girl I was hoping I’d love this one. I like it but I wouldn’t say I love it!

Have you tried it?

Do share!

The jar packaging is enough for me to not purchase. I appreciate the honest review!

      • Sonia

I just bought this product tonight and have had it on for about 15 minutes my face feels plumped but I agree as day cream it would be better suited. The cream dissolves quickly leaving the skin taut but not so much on the moisturizer side. I may try it under my foundation it would probably grab it like primer does. So I will have to remember to give my update. Anyways, I love your blog. Keep up the good work. xoxoxo

        • Isabella Muse

Yeah, I think as a day cream it works ok! But my skin needs way more moisture sadly :-/ Keep us posted Sonia, would love to hear your follow up thoughts! Thank you xoxo 🙂

  • Katherine T.

Thanks for the review! I was curious about this one. They should’ve put it in a pump, might be ok as weather gets warmer, but for now, I need heavy duty hydration

  • Cheryl

Thank you so much for your review! The jar packaging had me shaking my head, also. That said, I love and have most everything It Cosmetics (except for their mascaras, which I don’t like…although I am taking a chance on the Superhero formula and I am awaiting my shipment from QVC! ) and was waiting for reviews on this product before purchasing.

I have the doctor jarred Sarah my didn’t do well from Birchbox, with the liquid and the cream. I like it. I also like the Clinique moisture surge intense gel cream. How would you say this formula compares to the latter?

Thanks for your straightforward and honest reviews! At this point, I am thinking I will pass on this one, but I’m still not sure.

    • Isabella Muse

My pleasure 🙂 Superhero I’m still testing, it’s a bit goopey for me but I’m still trying to figure out if I love it haha! Doctor Jarred Sarah? I’m not sure what that is and I haven’t tried surge intense gel cream so I don’t know how these compare sadly 🙁 My pleasure!!!!

    • Elaine

      Cheryl,
It does reminds me of clinique moisture surge. Which I used every day until it started to break me out. Which I very much. I only used the intense during winter months. Still the same texture. Hope this helps.

  • Elaine Lorshbaugh

I have ordered it, and for me I LOVE IT! I have oily skin and acne prone skin. Its hard to find a moisturizer for me, that doesn’t give me oily skin 10 minutes later. I am hoping It cosmetics will make one with spf. I can see why dry skin may not like it. The consistency is thick but not like Dr. Jart. My husband use Dr. Jart and loves it for his eczema. I believe it could be a hit for oily skin peps.

    • Ilovecolor

I hope they never put SPF in this stuff- or I won’t try it. SPF is awful and I can not use it in my creams. It is so much better to put it on separately anyway, having it already in cream just makes it harder on those of us who have problems with SPF. Just some thoughts in reaction to your comments, Elaine. 🙂

  • Donna Hart

Have you ever tried Marula Oil? I had tried a lot of the different, new oils that are out there, and this one beats them all, imho! I am 65, and sadly, still break out easily, but this oil is great for my lines, great moisture and causes no breakouts!

  • Jeanine McAuliffe

I NEED you to review the new foundation or bb cream. I thought this was it ..I am newly an It girl but didn’t know it was made in Korea..makes me love them even more! Thanks!

    • Isabella Muse

Which new foundation/bb cream? I didn’t know they had one. My pleasure!

  • Lori

Hello Muse! Unrelated but I saw contact is being wonky. Can you tell me what the palette is in your heading photo with the pinks? Thanks

    • Isabella Muse

I’m not sure, it’s a stock image, it looks like the Tarte Blush Palette but I can’t really confirm, it’s just a stock image that I purchased.

  • Andrea G

Interesting. The way you describe the way it absorbs, reminds me of the Nutragena water moisturizer – not sure what it’s exactly called by its Ina blue jar.
I think I’ll save my money on this one right now.

As always thanks for the review

  • Oksearcher

I purchased it and was looking forward to a good moisturizer. I have never really considered myself to have sensitive skin, but within a week to two weeks of use my skin was burning and visibly dry. Not usually my problem. I stopped using it and went back to my usual moisturizer and no more problems.

  • Lynn

I have a sample coming and I am looking forward to trying it. I to do not like the jar packaging but the spatulas is a good idea. It has a lot of ingredients in I am not sure about which bothers me and why does it need canola oil? Well I will try the sample and see. Thanks for such a great and thorough review.

    • Isabella Muse

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts Lynn! Let me know if it works out for you!

    • Ashley

Can you please share with me where you found a sample of this? I wanna try it but not spend $50 and then not like it. Tia

  • Kate

Is it just me or has anyone checked the ingredients in this cream? Pretty scary stuff! I would never use it.

    • Teresa

I think it has too many ingredients. This makes it very difficult to figure out the problem ingredient if you have a reaction.

    • Carly

I have! It’s all emollients that’ helps spread easily. Where’s the anti-aging stuff we’re paying for??

  • Teresa

I recently bought some of this at Ulta. As I age, my skin has become very sensitive and dry, which can be common for people in their 60’s. The cream glides on and is very hydrating. However, it has so much silicone in it that it clogs my pores. Therefore, Ulta will be getting this back, and the quest continues for a good dry skin moisturizer that will not clog my pores or set my skin on fire.

    • Kate

Teresa: I love Origins or Weleda. They are a bit pricey but are well worth it. It is quality stuff with natural ingredients. I, too, am your age & although I have very dry skin, I am not willing to put creams on that are full of nasty chemicals. The companies that make them could not care any less about the people that use these products; it’s only about profit for them. I am suspicious of anything made by brands like Olay, L’Oreal, etc. I often just use a good coconut oil or the Trader Joe’s products. Trader Joes is a European company where they have different regulations than we do in the USA.

    • Ilovecolor

Hey Teresa and Kate, ever tried Peter Lamas skin care? I have not tried it since the newer packaging, but they used to be very natural and have wonderful results without bad reactions. I did not like EVERYTHING but they had some nice stuff for older skin. Not overly expensive either (well, in comparison to SOME, anyway). I am not related to the company or anything, but did really like their products in the past. I am finishing up some other brands I have at the moment before I get more of it.

  • Sherri

I thought that I would try it Confidence In A Cream Transforming Moisturizing Super Cream, because I am a repeat purchaser of it’s CC+cream and their Bye Bye Undereye concealer , for over a year. I haven’t any problems with it, however, for me it is not quite moisturising enough to be my one and only, but I am older, almost sixty. I do think it will be great for those who don’t have a solid need for super moisture, and may even be fine for combination skin types, and acne prone skin (get a sample first, to try) I found out that Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream works well with this ” it Confidence In A Cream” so I’m using the combination with a small amount of argan oil, when I feel the need for more moisture.

  • Teresa

I have not heard of the Peter Lamas brand, but will do a search for it, and will also take a look at some Trader Joe products. Thank you for the recommendations ladies!

As a former cosmetic formulator and skincare company owner, I dislike products that contain worthless ingredients which have no benefit, and products that have large amounts of silicone. Silicone should be used sparingly, but in this cream it is almost the main ingredient. That said, you cannot always tell how well a product will work based on where an ingredient falls in a product’s ingredient list. Some ingredients must be used at a very low percentage, so you would not expect to see them at the top of the ingredient list. Most silicones work well when used in small amounts to give the product feel appeal and spreadability, so I prefer to see them near the bottom of the list. Seeing silicone at the top of the ingredient list on the Confidence cream does not inspire my confidence in their formulator, especially since so many complexions are upset by large amounts of silicone. This product also contains two peptides which serve no purpose other than to jack up the price and to make people think they are getting an anti-aging product. Most peptides will not work in a product that contains film forming oils and moisturizers. They must be able to penetrate the skin mantle in order to be effective, and that means they need to be in a formula that is water based.

  • Jessica

I completely agree. I’m finding myself very disappointed :/ I have combination to dry skin and my skin isnt getting the hydration it needs and I’m finding myself doubling up on moisturizer which I guess would be fine but this cream is $48.. so a bit of a bummer honestly. This review was very helpful! I’ve been debating returning it and sadly I think I will. I was hoping for better results!

    • Isabella Muse

Likewise, I stopped using it because it wasn’t hydrating enough for me! I’m bummed as I truly love It but this wasn’t a good pick for me!

  • Kellie

I was given a free sample and I think I’m going to buy it. I have generally oily skin, but more dry in winter. And I’m sensitive to smells, etc. This one has actually worked well for me. I don’t know anything about packaging or the difference it makes. Just going by this little sample. It’s good to read the reviews and really interesting comments.

  • Sandra

I’ve just purchased this also and I will not be able to use it. I have normal skin and do not have any problems with my skin but I surely did when I used this product. I’ve used it two days under my make up and both days my skin felt so dry I had to remove my make up. My skin felt tight and you could see it pulling a little. Weird but this disappeared both days when I washed this cream off my face. Same with the eye cream. Yes very disappointing.

  • poshy

I have just purchased this cream in a “special price” configuration, of course I wanted to try it out immediately so I put some on my hand and also tried the Bye Bye Under Eye cream on my hand. It felt nice going on but after a couple of minutes I started sneezing whenever I smelled the back of my hand strangely enough, so before I put it on my sensitive skin on my face I like to find out if anyone else has had this experience from the It Cosmetics products. I am very new to this line but do like the CC coverage foundation in a tube with SPF50, no problem with that at all. Thank you!

    • Isabella Muse

It has citrus oil and fragrance in it that could be why it made you sneeze. I’d be careful about putting it on sensitive skin as people have had issues with this on sensitive skin! Read through some of the comments, you might find someone having the same issues as you. I know many of my readers said the fragrance was an issue for them 🙁

      • poshy

Thank you Isabella and yes I have read most of the comments and find them very interesting, however in my case I do not think its the citrus fragrance as the CC foundation has a pretty strong citrus odor and I have no problem using it, I actually really like it as it goes and feels good on my skin. I will check it out as maybe the citrus is stronger in this cream but going to check the creams one by one and check which is the culprit. Thank you again.

        • Isabella Muse

My pleasure, I’m really not sensitive so I’m kind of bad at giving advice on ingredients that might cause break outs. It can also be the essential oils as there are quite a few in this formula. Hopefully one of my readers will reply and let you know what it might have been that set their skin off and that might help 😀

          • poshy

Hi again Isabella, I shall be waiting patiently and hope to hear from someone with any concerns they encountered. I washed the creams off my hand and no more sneezing. Strange I find, again many thanks and have a great evening…:)

          • Isabella Muse

Hi again poshy! Hopefully someone gives you a good answer 😀 no thanks needed, I didn’t do anything! have a wonderful night!

  • katie reynolds

Thank you for saving me $50! I really love IT Cosmetics, but this may not be right for me. You saved me a costly mistake! xxxxooo

  • Mary

Love this product but beware when purchasing on ebay. There are two sizes. 2 oz and .5 oz. They are listing the .5 oz on ebay at slightly lower than the 2 oz competitor prices. Know what size you are buying. The product is good and I paid $50 + in Ulta. I liked it so much that I searched ebay and got it for half price. I’ve been buying it that way ever since but the prices have drastically increased lately. Don’t know why. Won’t pay $40. May keep searching for my $20 price or may look for another moisturizer. This is a good product but know what you are buying on ebay or Amazon.

  • Lori Turci

What would you recommend for a nighttime moisturizer for combination skin of a 60 year old women?

    • Isabella Muse

I’m not sure as you haven’t told me anything about your skin.

  • Rita

Thank you SO much for your reviews, beautiful Isabella!

I’m thinking of a bit of a splurge on Caudalie’s Soft/Firm Cream. If you’ve tried this cream, I’d really appreciate your review of this product. Also, please post a review of any soap free cleanser for combination skin that you’d recommend for winter use.

Many thanks for any and all help you can provide.
