This little set comes housed in a peach lip shaped box. I decided to pick it up on a whim when it launched earlier this month as I kinda like exploring new nude lipstick options and also because it was such a great deal. This includes a full size NARS Lipstick which is typically $27 so I think of the other items as costing me a mere buck! There’s also a full size Nudestix here which is worth $24. So just the NARS and Nudestix alone is well over the $28 price tag of the entire set. It’s quite a great deal.
As I said I liked the set because it was en excellent way to discover some new shades I don’t currently own plus it was great way to introduce me to nudes I might not normally splurge on because they scare me. My favorite piece from this collection was definitely the NARS Dolce Vita Lipstick which is my ideal dusky peachy rose nude. I can’t believe I don’t already own this shade as it is exactly what I love in a nude lipstick shade.
The Marc Jacobs Beauty Mini (P)Outliner Longwear Lip Pencil in Prim(Rose) they included in this set is really great with many of the shades in this little set as it offsets the different shades of nudes perfectly so you can get that Kim-K nude lip look everyone wants to recreate.
Sadly, the other shades in this set were a little zombie lip looking for me but they are all workable with a little doctoring by me. For example, the Laura Mercier Milky Way shade wasn’t quite what I like in a nude but I applied a little pink stain under it and it was instantly wearable. I also doctored many of these shades up with clear gloss and it made them way more wearable.
The Nudestix Lip + Cheek Crayon had a lovely creamy consistency but Whisper didn’t work for me. But hey, that’s ok, because at least I know I like this formula now and I can grab another shade or two that will work for me. Whisper didn’t quite work on my lips nor my face sadly! But like I said at least I know I like these now.
The Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint shade didn’t quite work for me either but again, I added a little clear gloss to sheer it out and it became more workable. If you’d like a deeper review on the Tarte Tarteist Lip Pain see this post.
I can’t say any of these formulas were bad. All had excellent pigment, very nice wear, and applied well on my drier lips. It was just that some of the shades didn’t quite agree with me but as I said this was still a fabulous little set and a great way to try out more nude lip shades without spending a ton of money.
I don’t regret this purchase one single bit even if all the shades didn’t work for me because on the plus side it introduced me to the fantastic NARS Dolce Vita Lipstick which I don’t currently own! So I think of the other goodies in this set as freebies!
Hopefully the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip comes back in stock again soon at Sephora.com! Or check your local stores, maybe they have the set available!
