This little set comes housed in a peach lip shaped box. I decided to pick it up on a whim when it launched earlier this month as I kinda like exploring new nude lipstick options and also because it was such a great deal. This includes a full size NARS Lipstick which is typically $27 so I think of the other items as costing me a mere buck! There’s also a full size Nudestix here which is worth $24. So just the NARS and Nudestix alone is well over the $28 price tag of the entire set. It’s quite a great deal.

As I said I liked the set because it was en excellent way to discover some new shades I don’t currently own plus it was great way to introduce me to nudes I might not normally splurge on because they scare me. My favorite piece from this collection was definitely the NARS Dolce Vita Lipstick which is my ideal dusky peachy rose nude. I can’t believe I don’t already own this shade as it is exactly what I love in a nude lipstick shade.

The Marc Jacobs Beauty Mini (P)Outliner Longwear Lip Pencil in Prim(Rose) they included in this set is really great with many of the shades in this little set as it offsets the different shades of nudes perfectly so you can get that Kim-K nude lip look everyone wants to recreate.

Sadly, the other shades in this set were a little zombie lip looking for me but they are all workable with a little doctoring by me. For example, the Laura Mercier Milky Way shade wasn’t quite what I like in a nude but I applied a little pink stain under it and it was instantly wearable. I also doctored many of these shades up with clear gloss and it made them way more wearable.

The Nudestix Lip + Cheek Crayon had a lovely creamy consistency but Whisper didn’t work for me. But hey, that’s ok, because at least I know I like this formula now and I can grab another shade or two that will work for me. Whisper didn’t quite work on my lips nor my face sadly! But like I said at least I know I like these now.

The Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint shade didn’t quite work for me either but again, I added a little clear gloss to sheer it out and it became more workable. If you’d like a deeper review on the Tarte Tarteist Lip Pain see this post.

I can’t say any of these formulas were bad. All had excellent pigment, very nice wear, and applied well on my drier lips. It was just that some of the shades didn’t quite agree with me but as I said this was still a fabulous little set and a great way to try out more nude lip shades without spending a ton of money.

I don’t regret this purchase one single bit even if all the shades didn’t work for me because on the plus side it introduced me to the fantastic NARS Dolce Vita Lipstick which I don’t currently own! So I think of the other goodies in this set as freebies!

Hopefully the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip comes back in stock again soon at Sephora.com! Or check your local stores, maybe they have the set available!

Did you haul it?

I got this as soon as I saw it online because the Sephora Favorites kits usually have such an amazing value. Plus my Dolce Vita lipstick recently broke so it was fate! The funny thing about Dolce Vita is that it looks different on everyone, but it’s also perfect for everyone if that makes sense! It amplifies your natural lip color, it’s very nicely moisturizing, and it’s got a beautiful natural finish.

Like you, I loved the lip liner but everything else was kind of ‘meh’. I’m curious to know if your Nudestix pencil had a very overwhelming wood smell, a lot like an old expired wood lip/eyeliner? Mine was so strong that my Nars lipstick smelled like it for about a week. Other than the smell the Nudestix pencil was pretty nice as a cream cheek color offering a very light, natural contour with six hours of wear by itself (almost eight with primer and powder).

So far this is my favorite set from the Sephora Favorites line!

Hey Andrew! Likewise! Everyone was posting about it and I got nervous so I quickly placed the order! The next day it disappeared! I have Dolce Vita Lipgloss but that’s vastly different compared to the lipstick. IA with everything you said about it. It’s a very nice my lips but better shade that isn’t overwhelming and looks natural on. I wouldn’t say the wood smell was overwhelming but it was there for sure! I tried using it as a cheek color but no luck, it looked dulling on my skin πŸ™ I just doctored it with pink lip stain and it became much more wearable for me πŸ˜€ I don’t regret the purchase though! It was worth it for Dolce Vita alone πŸ™‚

I placed my order for this as soon as I saw it listed for Dolce vita alone. I go through them so quick! Muse, try layering a dot of your Dolce vita gloss on top of the lipstick for a little rosier color that lasts longer than the lipstick on its own

  • Laura

I too, ordered this as soon as it came out. I actually LOVED the Marc Jacobs liner; it lasted AT LEAST a good four hours for me. Like Andrew, I liked the The Nudestix Lip + Cheek Crayon, but as a cream blush. The lip color washed me out. It does have a weird wood smell, but I didn’t find it overpowering.

Yes, the colors are hit or miss, but the set is absolutely worth the price! I actually love the box it came in too!!

I too ordered this as soon as I saw it online and was SO EXCITED for it!
I loved nars dolce vita so much but that was the only lippie that worked for me. everything else didn’t go with my skin tone (I’m NC 42 for reference). I returned it and honestly hadn’t event thought about laying different nudes but that may have actually worked. I just didn’t think you should have to work to combine two lip products to get the ideal look. I’m always on the go and would just like something that requires one swipe without having to worry about if I look like a zombie :/
lovely formulas tho, if you got atleast half of the kit to work for you, then it’s a success! πŸ™‚
Maybe they do another nude set but less zombie like lol. Really loved the concept of this set tho!!!

    • Isabella Muse

I agree, you shouldn’t have to cocktail to get it to work! I didn’t mind so much as I don’t own Dolce Vita so I just thought of the other items as freebies thus I felt like I’d just make them work πŸ™‚

  • kellly

Oh man, I wish I had gotten one of these! Too late now, unless they bring it back or I want to get one for $100 on eBay πŸ™

  • Christina

I got this set, too! Dolce Vita was beautiful, as was the Marc Jacobs lip liner. I was surprised by the Tarte and Nudestix, as it actually worked for my complexion, but a bit too nude for what I like. The only one that looked awful on me was Laura Mercier’s Milky Way. That color is far too brown for me, so I’m hoping that a rose lip liner will help bring some actual color into that shade.

    • Isabella Muse

A little stain under the Laura Mercier makes it way more wearable πŸ˜€

  • Esther

I wish they came out with a darker nudes kit. Those colors would have looked too light for me, but they do look lovely!

  • Monica

I absolutely love this kit! I picked it up on a whim at the checkout because I wanted to try several of the products. I love anything Marc Jacobs beauty but am a cheapskate when it comes to buying his makeup. Also, I wanted to try Nudestix but couldn’t justify the price for one. The Tarteist is great but is super light on me, so I just use it in the center of my lips. I’ll have to try the Nudestix on my cheeks.
