Tarte Powder Foundation Brush & Removable Blending Sponge

Tarte Powder Foundation Brush & Removable Blending Sponge ($34) is a new 2-in-1 powder brush with a removable sponge that was created for use with the new Tarte Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation. This brush gives you the option to apply that powder either wet or dry and also gives a flawless, airbrushed finish when used in conjunction with Confidence Cream Powder Foundation (or any other favorite foundation powder you use and love!).

I thought the Tarte Powder Foundation Brush & Removable Blending Sponge deserved review all its own because I do believe it is part of the reasons that Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation works so well.

So first off, this is a nifty brush. One end has a full, fluffy, extra larger powder brush where as the other side has a removable flat yet rounded sponge head. The sponge is quite dense and works best when used wet due to the density. It kinda reminds me of the Maybelline Dream Blender Foundation Blending Sponge. I think the sponge can prove a bit draggy when blending but when it is wet it’s much more pliable and has a lot more give. I don’t really like applying powder wet but this does a nice job of morphing the Confidence Cream Powder Foundation into a fluid of sorts which gives it a nice dewiness on my drier skin.

I apply the powder with the included sponge but I like using the bushier end of this brush to sheer it out and refine the finish. I explained in my review of the powder that it doesn’t adhere to drier areas and it looks very natural on! No cake face! I blame the brush for that as it has very soft, floppy bristles which breaks the powder down and gives it a nice smooth, even appearance. Another words, you get that makeup but no makeup look using this.

I actually don’t like applying the powder using it but do like finishing up with it. Using it to apply the powder I feel like I have less control since the bristles are very long and very floppy. This would be a great brush for transparent powder application but I think you want a little more control when using it with a foundation powder. So I use the sponge the powder came with to apply and I use this brush to sort of polish and buff the powder into my skin!

I think it works rather brilliantly with the Confidence Creamy Foundation Powder and deserves a pick up if you’re planning on getting the powder as used together they create a smooth, soft, flawless finish on my skin.
