You Really Do Need Sephora Rouge Balm

Sephora Rouge Balm2

You really do need Sephora Rouge Balm ($12.50) because it is one of the better lip products I’ve tried lately and hello? It’s $12.50! Steal! Recently, Sephora released eight shades of Rouge Balm recently each of which contains an SPF 20. If I listen hard enough I bet I can hear you all cheering that this contains SPF.

I stupidly purchased a single shade of this during the Sephora Love Note event and I admit to kicking myself for not grabbing more but that will be quickly redeemed. Why only one? Well, you know the drill with Sephora makeup! When they get it right they get it VERY right but when they get it wrong, oh lord.

Sephora Rouge Balm

Sephora Rouge Balm comes housed in rather slick little barrel which is the color of the shade inside (0.12 oz).

Sephora calls the formula a balmy lipstick with a gel formula which is about right but I’d say the balminess isn’t really here and I’m fine by that. This is in fact a gel lipstick all the way, no balminess to be had here. I personally love gel lipsticks as the formula tends to have an easier, softer glide during application. This glides on lips like butter! It has a thin, creamy consistency that’s a pleasure to use. I’m prone to drier lips but had absolutely no problems with application nor did the finish look bad. The color was smooth and didn’t adhere to flakier areas. It was very lightly hydrating with a sheen finish and little touch of flavor that disappeared instantly upon application.

Sephora Bashful Beige Rouge Balm

I worried the SPF would ruin the formula. I find SPF formulated lip products tend to be a little dense. This was a true creamy gel lipstick with absolutely no density and a wonderful, comfortable wear of five hours. The color was excellent too! This isn’t a shy, sheer lipstick! It has very nice pigmentation. I choose the shade Bashful Beige and it’s a very pretty dusky rose.

I sincerely impressed with this formula! Now I need ALL the shades!

Sephora Rouge Balm is a beautiful formula that has a high-end formula and a super affordable price tag.

I can’t recommend this one enough!

Loved it.

Do check them out.

Sephora Rouge Balm is available now at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Oh, that’s what Bashful Beige looks like? I love that. I ended up getting the Peony when they had the sale, and it’s a pretty, vibrant berry shade, but I’d like at least one neutral for days when I wear more eye makeup or don’t want to think about precision.
I do like the formula a lot, though, and like that it has some color.

YEAH! I told it would be weird and nude but I took a chance and it is really quite pretty 😀 I need MOREEEEEEEEEE!

I got the red one (must collect all of the reds!) and the blush-and freaking love them both!

Very nice! I didn’t buy any during the sale because I’m willing to spend $12.50 almost everyday, so I was waiting for some reviews. Per usual, you did not disappoint :D. I’ve been loving glossy, easy to re-apply lips so this product is perfect! I wish Sephora had buy 2 for 3 promos or something (because who can really decide on just one color lol).

    Hi Muse,

Thank you for the review! How do these compare with the Bare Minerals pop of passion lip colors? From your description, the Sephora rouge balm sounds like a dupe! I held off ordering because the reviews on Sephora said they were somewhat gritty. You didn’t experience any of that, did you?

  • Janessa

How did you know I had a few of these in my cart and was humming and hawing over whether or not I NEEDED them… Guess I need at least 3 😉

OMG, I need all shades too!!! My lips burn easily without SPF, but finding lipsticks and lip glosses with SPF is sooooo hard! And the Fresh ones are hideously expensive. I always have to add Carmex SPF 15 lip balm on top, but it can get messy. I had no idea Sephora had launched these, or I would’ve grabbed them all during the sale. Bashful Beige looks absolutely gorgeous. Muse, will you be swatching the other shades too?

  • Carolyn2

They had me at SPF 20.

I picked up the berry shade and am liking it. I find it more heavy than sheer and the grape candy scent is different – but I really like mine.

Next time I’m in store I’ll check out the other colors.

How does this compare to the Fresh sugar tinted lip treatment? Recently fell in love with that, but so expensive!

    • Isabella Muse

Nothing like it. This isn’t a tinted lip balm/treatment it’s a lipstick so the texture/consistency is a lot different from sheerer lip tints. It’s a gel lipstick with a creamy texture and no balminess that you’d get from Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment. Hope this helps!

Very lovely! Do you mind me asking what blush you’re wearing? It’s very lovely!
