Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine And Vanille Insensee Layering Duo

Ah the fine art of fragrance layering with Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine And Vanille Insensée Layering Duo ($35).

Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Purchasing the Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine And Vanille Insensée Layering Duo is an extremely bad move for your wallet. Once you try it you’ll find yourself wanting to purchase full sizes of both fragrances included in this set.

Soon after that you’ll find yourself exploring more of the Atelier Fragrance Collection. And before you know it you’ll be the proud broke owner of several large bottles of Atelier Cologne.

It’s a long, tricky path to destruction.

Atelier Cologne Set

I promised myself, as you might already know from reading my past reviews like my introduction to Zoologist Perfumes, to feature more indie and niche fragrance houses on my site. Indie and niche fragrances are a passion of mine and I really love sharing some of my favorites with fragrance lovers.

With Summer closing in on us and plenty of warm weather to look forward to now is a good time as any to discuss Atelier because their fragrances are all based on citrus notes with a complex mix of herbs. The brand’s focus is on creating long lasting fragrance which they successfully do. My skin tends to suck up fragrance quickly which makes re-application necessary but Atelier’s perfumes last and last and last on me without the need to reapply. It’s a funny thing as many will look at the brand and wonder at the use of the word “Cologne”. For the word, evokes a weak formula but these are anything but weak as they contain a very high level of fragrance oil.

The Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine And Vanille Insensee Layering Duo is a perfect tiny prelude to the brand. It’s also quite inexpensive at $35 since it contains two 0.25 oz spray vials where as a single 0.25 spray vial will set you back $25 alone.

The set includes Orange Sanguine Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume and Vanille Insensée Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume which both wear well individually or mix together perfectly.

Orange Sanguine is a succulent blend of warm oranges. It reminds me of being in Greece, under the warm, sizzling sun with the scent of ripe orange on the trees mixed with a hint of bright, green leafs.

Vanille Insensée is NOT a gourmand vanilla nor is it even a traditional vanilla scent. It’s a unisex style fragrance that has the subtle sweetness of vanilla mixed with dark notes of rich earthy oak moss and woods as well as a hint of coriander.

Combined, these two fragrances create a dreamsicle-like fragrance that smells like Summer! I’m kind of slow learning about good layering techniques but a set like this makes it very, very easy as the two included in the set compliment each other beautifully.

If you’re shopping Summer fragrances I can’t recommend the Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine And Vanille Insensee Layering Duo enough! But as I said, be warned, this set could create a terrible addiction to Atelier!

The set is available now at Sephora.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Here’s to a long tricky path to destruction. No but seriously, I can’t believe scents are now being marketed together for layering ! Twas my little secret and I felt so high-brow on a not so high-brow budget. le sigh. I am a fragrance freak and have never tried these so am definitely going to have to buy. What I do for layering is layer a mens cologne and then spritz something that I think is too floral/feminine by itself on me, say Gucci Envy Me, and then, voila, I am wearing a fancy custom blend made for me in Grasse (except not).

    Nice niche find Muse! 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

ha I love that Emm! Because I really like some men’s fragrance so the idea of layering with a more floral blend sounds awesome! Going to try that 😀 Ha good luck! Atelier is very, very dangerous in my experience! I already own quite a few bottles, just couldn’t stop at one!

  • Nanners

Ah Atelier… Can confirm, it suckers you in after smelling their most popular ones like Orange and Vanille. Now I’m lusting after the full size Mandarine Glaciale but I’ve never paid that much for a 1oz bottle of perfume before. Help!!

  • Maria A

It reminds me of summers that I spent in Greece as well. Ahhhh memories

      • Maria A

Wish I was in Greece now for 2 months like I was when I was little. soaking up the sun and swimming in beautiful waters : ) I want to go back to the motherland lol

          • Maria A

Deal. I sooooooo wish! Are you Greek?

          • Isabella Muse

I am not 🙂 but I love Greek food does that make me a temporary honorary greek!? My aunt’s husband is Greek 🙂

          • Isabella Muse

thank you! Now please make me some Spanakopita? Please? Because I tried once and it was really, really bad!

          • Maria A

I will make a batch and ship it to you. It’s soooooo good. Now you made me hungry and it’s too late now to make it

          • Isabella Muse

it’s my favorite 😀 Fedex would be fine hehe!

I have a deluxe size of the Pomelo Paradis, it smells so good! But it’s too similar to my Commodity mimosa, I think I will wait till I finish my Commodity to pull the trigger lol. Atelier does last a lot longer compare to Commodity!

    • Isabella Muse

I have Pomelo Pardis too! Really? I didn’t think it smelled quite like Mimosa!

  • Kate

I wore the Orange Sanguine all last summer it’s lovely, and that small size is just perfect, thanks for this post

    • Isabella Muse

isn’t it perfect for Summer? You’re very welcome 🙂 thanks for reading it!

  • Lauren

Orange Sanguine is the best authentic orange fragrance I’ve smelled. I got a sample vial last Christmas and emptied it so fast, I now have the rollerball but am probably ready to splurge for full size. I am not a big vanilla fan so haven’t tried the other one.

  • Carrie

I used to hate perfumes when I was younger. They *all* smelled like something an old lady would wear. Ha. Now that I’m older tho, I’m finding ones that I like. These sound delicious! And I will definitely have to pick them up. Do you know if Sephora has them in the store?

    • Isabella Muse

Most def! They keep the set in the little bins at check out!

      • Carrie

Thank you! I will definitely take a peek next time I’m in a store.

  • Sienna

I have sample vials of both of these. I’ll have to try layering them! But which one goes first? I have found that when layering fragrances, the order makes or breaks it.

    • Isabella Muse

Agreed! I typically go vanilla first and orange after. Orange first and vanilla second ends up being overpowered by the vanilla!

  • Hanna

My nose must be broken because when I smell orange sanguine all I smell is that orange degreaser stuff.

I like the vanilla but had to give away the other to my citrus loving bff.

  • trina

“eyes roll in the back of my head” The vanilla is too die for a million times over. It is unisex, but it’s the way it smells on me, fresh. Like airy and just bathed with a touch of vanilla. Not cloying at all to me. I just bought the huge size yesterday and feel that a marriage has been made. This is going to be glorious in winter.
