Clinique Pep-Start Quick Cleansing Swipes

As long as you aren’t planning on removing any makeup with Clinique Pep-Start Quick Cleansing Swipes you’ll be a-ok! The new Clinique Pep-Start Quick Cleansing Swipes ($14) are part of the new Pep-Start Skincare Collection that Clinique recently introduced which started with the introduction of Pep-Start Eye Cream as well as the new Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturizer and a new exfoliating cleanser.

The collection is refreshingly new and upbeat for Clinique who hasn’t changed their standard packaging in years. The brightly colored tubes and packaging of the Pep-Start line seems to want to reel in a potentially new and young demographic but these products are definitely for everyone! I feel like the introduction of Chubby Sticks and Cheek Pop Blush were a turning point for Clinique as since those releases the brand has become a lot brighter and fun with their releases.

Clinique Pep-Start Quick Cleansing Swipes are an affordable $14 for 50 generously sized wipes. Honestly, if you’re busy playing the frugal card you can easily cut these wipes in half as they are huge!

The idea of the wipes is they remove surface oil as well as dirt while gently exfoliating skin. Note, they do not remove makeup! They actually use the idea of primer water but pop it into a friendly wipe form. Each wipe is lightly saturated with a fragrance free primer that gently exfoliates skin, moisturizers it, and preps it for makeup. Do they work?

Yup! They work a treat! I packed this with me on vacation last week and I was using them after washing my face with Ultra Bland. I was SPFing myself to death so, at the end of the night when I knew I would be indoors I’d apply Ultra Bland all over my face to remove my SPF and my lighter makeup of BB Cream, cheek stain, and mascara. I’d wipe off Ultra Bland with a very hot wash cloth. After that I’d use one of these wipes to prep my skin for makeup. They are very lightly saturated and they do an excellent job swiping off the excess oil that Ultra Bland tends to leave behind. They also create a very smooth surface for makeup to adhere to. The actually wipes are quilted which for me might be where the “gentle exfoliation” comes into play. I wouldn’t say these are going to deflake drier skin but if your skin isn’t super dry they should do nicely to create a smooth, moist surface for your foundation to adhere to without creating unnecessary shine or oil for those who aren’t dry.

I think if you’re one for double cleansing these are actually a nice way to remove any excess makeup, oil, or dirt that your cleansing oil or cleansing balm may have left behind. I like using them after either Lush Ultra Bland or Pixi Cleansing Balm since both these products tend to leave behind a good deal of moisture which the wipes remove easily. I tend to double cleanse but these actually save me a step as I can cleanse once with either an oil or balm and proceed to dry my face and follow up with a wipe to remove anything my oil or balm left behind as well as the film those products tend to leave behind themselves!

I don’t endorse primer waters because I think they are an utter gimmick but primer wipes? Totally work fabulously! These are great for prepping your skin for either skincare or makeup or for removing anything left behind after an initial cleanse! And hey, can’t beat the price and value size either?

Do like!
