Too Faced Sketch Markers

Too Faced Sketch Marker Liquid Art Liner ($20) is kicking it old school with an array of vibrantly colored liquid eyeliners that launched with the Too Faced Fall 2016 Collection. The Sketch Marker formula was inspired by Japanese Calligraphy Pens and acts as a drawing ink to create a smooth, vivid line on your lash line with a waterproof formula that wears long and strong.

When I was a child and anyone asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up my immediate answer was, “An artist!” Never mind the fact I can’t draw to save my life. I know my dad mentally cringed anytime I told him I wanted to be an artist. I think he pictured me on the streets trying to pawn off stick figures as modern art. I swear I had that dream until I was at least 14 year old. I was determined I’d be an artist. I blame Crayola. Those damn 64 shade boxes of crayons just made everyone want to be an artist. I remember when I was in, mmmm, the 7th grade or so, one of my friends had a 150 gel pens that her aunt had purchased for her. This was like a dream come true for me. I recall going to her house almost everyday to use those pens. Seriously, as a child were you obsessed with pens, crayons, and stationary as much as I was? I hate to say but to this day I’m still obsessed with stationary. This time of the year is my favorite as when the stores start filling up with back to school goodies I’m so shopping those aisles even though I’m no longer in school nor do I have a child. Which is sad because I have no excuse for piling cute pens, crayons, and markers into my cart.

Someone think up some wild excuse quickly!

Actually, I don’t need an excuse because I have a set of Too Faced Sketch Markers now! Those are totally for adults right?

Check out some of my swatches of these gorgeous eyeliners below!

Seems like everyone is all about creating new eyeliner formulas for Fall! Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner just launched for Fall 2016 as well and I have a funny little feeling Tarte might just introduce a new liner as well soon! But where as Urban Decay went with shiny, metallic shades with their new formulas, Too Faced went all cream with theirs. No shimmer, no glitter, just smooth, creamy, vivid color. They also happen to be shaped like something you’d buy at an Asian drugstore or stationary store with a cute little heart top and a clip that makes them resembled a colored pen.

I am right there with you on the different color pens. I still buy them only in a gel form now and I ALWAYS have to ask for them back when people borrow them. Thanks for the swatches. I have a $10/$20 coupon for HSN and free shipping and was looking at these and no one had swatches. I think I am going with the navy-blues or dark purples. I will get more use out of them. As usual your right on time!

ugh I am so obsessed with gel pens ;-D haha! w00t 🙂 Happy to have helped!

  • Sarah R

Very nice! Can’t wait to see how they do on oily lids – debating between these and the new UD liners.

Obsessed as a kid from the 80’s with the scented markers & the multi colored click pens with the separate push down tabs at the top were PROUDLY displayed in a cup on every 3rd grade desk as having the newest fad. It was evvery-thang to have the Hershey scented & fruit scented markers. They were right up there with the puffy sticker albums that defined our lives lol. Too Faced has nailed this again & again & play on the memories & I happily fork over my bucks for nostalgia.. I cant wait to try these. I imagine TF has a 37 yr old creative director that has the same happy memories as me lol “imagine” being the key word here. Seriously they get me everytime. Lol my more mature obsession I guess.

Haha! Omg! I remember in the 4th grade I had one of those magnetic paper clip holders with colored paper clips inside, I thought I was IT because of that ;-D They had a range of fruit scented markers last year at Walgreens which were really wild like pepperoni pizza haha ;-D I had to have them! Oh god puffy stickers! Stop bringing back my youth ;-D

Has anyone ever figured out why these felt-tip liner release (from any brand!) never have a darker purple shade? A nice plum or dark violet seems like an obvious inclusion in a large eyeliner range, but there never is one. As someone who is both a deep plum eyeliner enthusiast and a lover of the ever so convenient eyeliner marker pen, this omission has always vexed me!

    • Tabitha

I know Almay had a really great felt tip deep purple eyeliner, it was in their line for brown eyes. Ik it’s a drug store brand but it never failed me!

      • Codename Duchess

Oh I meant the marker style felt-tip eye liners not the inkwell style felt tip eye liners. I should have been clearer! There are several brands with inkwell style liners that come in purple, but they aren’t quite what I want For some reason, I get a much cleaner wing on my eyeliner using an eye liner marker than I do using any other style of eyeliner. It’s my liner of choice for busy morning which is why I wish I could find one in purple! Palladio has one in a color they call eggplant, but it’s really just a warm brown and not a plum or violet. Hard Candy also has one but it’s fairly light and the quality is poor. Those are the only two I’ve ever seen.

When I read your comment, I had to do a double take to make sure I didn’t write it! I posted something similar on a Muse review last week!
Why are there so few purples?? Brown eyes look great with purple eyeliner! Too Faced made an amazing one years ago with shiny bits – remember that teardrop packaging? More dark purples, please! Violets and lilacs are ok, too…

  • Abby

These look amazing; definitely makes me want to try some fun colors!

  • Zovesta

I’m nearly 20 (dear god!! already?!) and I still have a ton of crayons and markers. I’m not a great artist, but I can draw, and I do totally blame Crayola for my initial interest. =D Also, Hobby Lobby! My older sister could draw, so we went to Hobby Lobby maybe three times in my childhood for a few art supplies and omg, heaven on earth. Allllll the markers and varieties of pens!
Back to school season is so addictive. They have some adorable composition books at Dollar Tree right now. 😀
Also, loving these swatches! I really don’t need them… but on the other hand, I really need them. Waiting for your review as always, Muse!

    • Isabella Muse

ha you sound exactly like me! Ugh I can’t resist all the back to school stuff :-D!!!!!!! Review on the way shortly 🙂

  • Tal’s Opinion

I am loving all the colour! Such a great way to add a pop of colour without going over board or being afraid too! Great post! Tal xo

  • Cecilia

I don’t know what to think of these… The colors look gorgeous, but the packaging looks so cheap, like dollar store markers! Since pretty packaging is the main reason to buy Too Faced in the first place, this is a pass from me.
