Ulta Gel Bounce Eyeshadow Palette

Remember the Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Jello Color Eyeshadow Palette ($39)? Well, the new Ulta Gel Bounce Eyeshadow Palette might just prove a dupe for that formula!

Chosungah 22 is a Korean brand that recently launched at Sephora and the Dong Gong Minn Jello Color Eyeshadow Palette was one of there interesting. And one of there more disappointing ones according to reviews. The palette contains six eyeshadow shade that have a bouncy cushion, jelly texture (aka a vamped up cream eyeshadow).

Ulta jumps on board with this one as their new Gel Bounce Eyeshadow Palette ($18) contains five shade which also happen to have that unique bouncy jelly texture in a variety of mattes and shimmer finishes just the Chosungah 22 one! Considering Ulta makeup constantly goes on sale, this might be a cool sale grab.

I’m constantly delighted how much Asian makeup is influencing makeup here in the US. There are plenty of new cushion foundations, cushion blushes, as well as skincare picks like essence that US brands are introducing daily to keep up with Asian’s every growing and every changing beauty market. I don’t think we’ll ever quite reach the point of innovation that Japan and Korea are at but I still enjoy seeing the trends that are current in Asia reaching the US market so rapidly versus years later.

I also adore that many of my favorite brands such as Tony Moly and even Skin Food are available at stores like Ulta and Sephora!

What do you think of the Asian makeup and beauty trends that are currently influencing our market?

The Ulta Gel Bounce Eyeshadow Palette are available now at Ulta.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I think I would rather have easy access to the actual Asian brands! I saw this on Ulta’s website last night and actually thought it looked familiar but I’ve never been able to get non-primer cream shadows to work on my hooded lids. 🙁

I’d like that too but I also love some of the brands I love are embracing different Korea trends! It’s fun to say the US take on it 😀

The new Ulta brand stuff looks promising. I wish they’d update their in-store display. As soon as this hits stores I’ll snag it :). Maybe it’ll be a hidden gem.

I’m enjoying the Asian beauty trend. I visited an Asian beauty supply store on my last trip to NY and they had awesome stuff, but I was surprised that it was just as expensive as midrange skincare here. For some ridiculous reason I thought Asian beauty was cheaper. But OMG I specifically went for the Biore UV Aqua Rich spf after seeing your post about it and it’s soooo sooo good! I’m a believer!!!! I also snagged a hyaluronic acid essence that’s been wonderful under my moisturizer. The face washes I’ve tried were too drying, but the good products are holy grail amazing.

I’m hoping that’s the case! Ugh yes, where did you go? There are some awfully marked up prices here in NY. Your best bet is Roosevelt Ave/Flushing/Queens for good deals. Asian beauty is cheaper but the prices get jacked up once it hits our atmosphere lol! Yay! Happy to hear it! For the best deals def shop sasa.com or f2plus1 on ebay! GOOD prices or even AlphabeautyUK who carries the Biore Aqua Rich 😀

I went to oo35mm which was a pain in the a$$ to find. I walked into a massage parlor and the woman kept trying to convince me I was in the right place. Nice try lady lol. Thanks for the recommendations! Queens is where my family lives, so now I won’t have to trek it out to Chinatown when I get tired of online shopping (aka never).

oo35mm is pretty nice but yes grossly overpriced 🙁 There’s a Skin Food in the Palisades Mall now, an official store, and still the prices suck imho compared to Korean retail! I tend to shop online because stores are so crazy jacked up! Def try Queens! Lots of little shops on Roosevelt and Northern Blvd! ;-D haha about the massage parlor!

Korean brands have very little pigment , lack the staying power & are geared toward young girls not women in their 49’s plus. Japanese brands have more intense pigments, last longer, geared to mature women.

    • Isabella Muse

I disagree with that. There are a good deal of Korean brands with plenty of pigmentation and brands such as Whoo and Sulwhasoo are totally geared towards more mature women. Japanese brands also have plenty of younger demographic brands like Majolica Marjoca and Lavshuca. Both countries have different brands that are geared towards different age groups with a variety of formulas and pigmentation.
