L’Oreal Pure-Clay Mask Exfoliate and Refine Pores Review
I picked up the L’Oreal Pure-Clay Mask Exfoliate and Refine Pores recently along with the L’Oreal Detox & Brighten Clay Mask I recently reviewed for you. I’m actually liking this particular mask a lot more than the Detox & Brighten formula and I can see myself repurchasing it in the future.
Mud masks are becoming quite popular lately across the board from higher end to mid-range and even drugstore, budget friendly ones. L’Oreal introduced three mud mask formulas for the Fall 2016 that should be popping into your local drugstore, if they aren’t already available.
Here’s my thoughts on the L’Oréal Detox & Brighten Clay Mask!
I have always said that I avoid Kaolin like the plague because it tends to dry my skin out! Surprisingly it is included as a top ingredient in both L’Oreal masks I’ve tried so far but neither formulas dried my skin out which was a HUGE plus. I did have strong reservations about buying these because of kaolin but obviously had nothing to worry about as I had no issues with it making my skin dry, tight, or flaky! Relief! This particular formula acts as a mask and an exfoliating facial scrub all-in-one.
The mask comes housed in a 1.7 oz glass jar that should last a while as a thin layer is all you need to apply. As I discussed in my prior review this suggests using the mask three times a week but I personally think that’s overkill. Scrubbing your face three times a week will only act so strip the natural oils from your skin which will result in dryness. Once a week is plenty in my opinion!
This is formulated with 3 forms of clay as well as red algae which acts to draw out impurities from pores while unclogging them. It also exfoliates dead skin cells and smooths skin. It does have a very strong fresh fragrance which might be irritating to sensitive users. I thought it was pleasant but I don’t typically mind fragrance in my skin care.
I don’t have clogged pores nor visible pores so, I can’t really say if these drew any gunk from my pores. It’s a creamy consistency that doesn’t dry as tight as the Detox & Brighten Clay Mask. It actually feels pleasantly cooling on my skin through the wear. After 15 minutes, you can add a little water and gently exfoliate your skin with the mask as it has a grainy texture that works to slough away dry, flaky skin. I thought it did a great job of smoothing and refining my drier skin. My skin looked smoother and softer after I used this and my skincare seemed to absorb more easily after using it. I also felt like my skin looked very, very bright directly after rinsing and the morning after I used it!
I can’t speak for pores but I know for a fact this works great on buffing away drier skin and making my skin smoother, softer, and brighter. I really liked this mask and I appreciate the fact it didn’t dry my skin out or make it tight after use! If you have drier skin I’d recommend checking it out!
