I picked up the L’Oreal Pure-Clay Mask Exfoliate and Refine Pores recently along with the L’Oreal Detox & Brighten Clay Mask I recently reviewed for you. I’m actually liking this particular mask a lot more than the Detox & Brighten formula and I can see myself repurchasing it in the future.

Mud masks are becoming quite popular lately across the board from higher end to mid-range and even drugstore, budget friendly ones. L’Oreal introduced three mud mask formulas for the Fall 2016 that should be popping into your local drugstore, if they aren’t already available.

Here’s my thoughts on the L’Oréal Detox & Brighten Clay Mask!

L'Oreal Pure-Clay Mask Exfoliate and Refine Pores

I have always said that I avoid Kaolin like the plague because it tends to dry my skin out! Surprisingly it is included as a top ingredient in both L’Oreal masks I’ve tried so far but neither formulas dried my skin out which was a HUGE plus. I did have strong reservations about buying these because of kaolin but obviously had nothing to worry about as I had no issues with it making my skin dry, tight, or flaky! Relief! This particular formula acts as a mask and an exfoliating facial scrub all-in-one.

The mask comes housed in a 1.7 oz glass jar that should last a while as a thin layer is all you need to apply. As I discussed in my prior review this suggests using the mask three times a week but I personally think that’s overkill. Scrubbing your face three times a week will only act so strip the natural oils from your skin which will result in dryness. Once a week is plenty in my opinion!

This is formulated with 3 forms of clay as well as red algae which acts to draw out impurities from pores while unclogging them. It also exfoliates dead skin cells and smooths skin. It does have a very strong fresh fragrance which might be irritating to sensitive users. I thought it was pleasant but I don’t typically mind fragrance in my skin care.

I don’t have clogged pores nor visible pores so, I can’t really say if these drew any gunk from my pores. It’s a creamy consistency that doesn’t dry as tight as the Detox & Brighten Clay Mask. It actually feels pleasantly cooling on my skin through the wear. After 15 minutes, you can add a little water and gently exfoliate your skin with the mask as it has a grainy texture that works to slough away dry, flaky skin. I thought it did a great job of smoothing and refining my drier skin. My skin looked smoother and softer after I used this and my skincare seemed to absorb more easily after using it. I also felt like my skin looked very, very bright directly after rinsing and the morning after I used it!

I can’t speak for pores but I know for a fact this works great on buffing away drier skin and making my skin smoother, softer, and brighter. I really liked this mask and I appreciate the fact it didn’t dry my skin out or make it tight after use! If you have drier skin I’d recommend checking it out!

L’Oreal Pure-Clay Mask Exfoliate and Refine Pores is available now at drugstores or pick it up at amazon.com or ulta.com.

This was the first one I got last week and I really like it too! I didn’t find if drying either and it was lightly scrubby when I rinsed it off. Got the green one with charcoal a coupke days ago and like it a lot too! Got mine at WallyWorld, and with a printable $2 coupon I paid $7.99 for each! I’m all about the cheap, esp when it’s a good product!

I liked it a lot and was surprised it wasn’t drying 😀 Nice sale price you got it for too!

I will give this one a go too when it reaches our shores. If it works for you, it will work for me as I think I have a similar skin tone to you. Thank you for your reviews, they are always great.

Thanks so much for the prompt research on these masks. I saw them at CVS and then at Target and took my time reading all the information but still couldn’t decide which is best of the three. I think the red clay it is! I have combination skin drier on most of face but nose and chin a bit more oily. Will check carefully the other two again and get some!

My pleasure! You can use them in combination together as well if you want!

I’ve been using this one as well (it is named slightly differently here in the UK .. Glow I think) and loving it too. Haven’t tried the other two in the range as I already have plenty of trad clay masks and this one seemed a bit different, in fact I’ve just bought my second pot as they still have it on offer at 5 (half price) for the moment.
