I Prep My Skin With Facial Wipes

Thanks to Clinique Pep Start Quick Cleansing Swipes I’ve discovered an entirely new way to prep my skin for skincare and makeup. What do I do? I prep my skin with facial wipes before I apply skincare or makeup.

Wait, what?

I know! Sounds weird, possibly crazy but I actually love doing this.

Here’s why.

I’ve recently discovered the new Yes to Miracle Oil 2-in-1 Cleaning + Moisturizing Facial Wipes as well as Clinique’s interesting Pep Start Quick Cleansing Swipes. I don’t technically use either wipe to clean my face. I do, however, use them as preps before my normal skincare and makeup. It sounds weird I know but if you have drier skin it works a treat at creating a smooth, soft surface for makeup.

After my shower in the morning, after I get dressed, it’s typically time to apply my skincare. Before I apply anything to my skin I take a wipe and swipe it across my face. I pay particularly attention to my cheeks which are driest. I’m really liking the Yes to Miracle Oil Wipes in particular lately as they are infused with Argan Oil. I can’t use facial oil on my face in the AM but this is a nice way to get a little bit of that hydration from Argan Oil on my face without leaving me greasy or shiny. The wipes act to create a very soft, smooth surface for my other skincare and makeup. They also remove any excess oil or perhaps any dirt left behind from my AM cleansing. I also find my SPF absorbs more easier when I use this method as well as my moisturizer and my skin looks and feels plush and bright after foundation is applied.

If you have drier skin I’d highly recommend purchasing a soft, hydrating wipe to use before your skincare and makeup application. Oily skin? No problem! Get a more mattifying wipe to use and it’ll swipe away any excess oil before you apply your skin. You’ll find using a wipe before skincare and makeup will result in smoother, softer skin plus your SPF/moisturizer will absorb more easily and your makeup with look more smooth and even!

Try it out!

I’ll have to try this with a mattifying wipe. Anyone know of a good one? I usually use cleansing wipes as a first or second cleanser to remove makeup.

Garnier SkinActive Clean+ Purifying Oil-Free Cleansing Towelettes are good for oily skin! 🙂

I have the Clinique pep start in an order I’m awaiting from Sephora. Can’t wait to try it. I’m going use them as a “toner”. My skin is still oily in the t-zone. So, I think this will be a good solution. I’m anxiously awaiting the yes to argan at my local Target. I can’t use argan oil in the morning either. It’s too heavy.

likewise! I tried that Smashbox Primer Oil and it made me a grease ball!

I enjoy doing this with the Simple Micellar wipes. It adds just a bit of hydration to my drier/combo skin & preps for skincare & makeup nicely. Glad I’m not the only one!

I do this too! I couldn’t figure out why my makeup always looked better when I used these wipes. I thought maybe my cleanser wasn’t working well, and the wipe either exfoliated a little or softened my skin or something! This makes so much sense now! Addicted to the simple wipes.

I do this every morning! I love the grapefruit ones cause they smell so good, but I’ll have to try the argan oil wipes.

This sounds like such a great idea! I’m gonna have to try this as I’m always looking for ways to add a little extra moisture

Awesome tip…I’m always looking for a new “cleansing” routine in the morning. I don’t MIND splashing a light cleanser on, but with my dry skin it’s not really necessary…so I might have to try this.
