About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. I certainly hope I can get the eye shadows I want, but guessing not. It’s the first MAC collection I’ve noticed or cared about in perhaps six years.

  • Jasmine

Muse, have you heard or plan to review the Taraji collection that’s come out? MAC sells out o fast now with so many collections, especially when its basically online-only 🙁 i managed to get the lipstick from the line but one of the powders sold out day of. *Le Sigh*

    • Isabella Muse

I have heard but failed to actually get any of it, I wanted one of the powders too but it sold out 🙁 MAC is unpredictable lately, I felt for sure Star Trek would fly off the shelves! but it didn’t!

      • Jasmine

Yes >__< i really wanted the Taraji Glow powder. Although it was a small collection, the colors were so good for tan and darker girls like us, and I just got the lipstick today and it is gorgeous. For once, a MLBB shade that doesn't look pastel or too brown!

        • Isabella Muse

is the lippie stick in stock haha now I need it 😀 I just wanted the powder rather badly but you have me thinking I need the lipstick!

        • Moda31

The lipstick was the only thing I got from that collection, and finally I’ve found a nude that I can actually wear, only two years after everyone else got to embrace the nude lips trend lol. I’m tempted to get a backup.

I’ll most likely pass completely on this collection. I just don’t get the hype… None of the shades look like anything that can’t be found in the permanent range, and the items are all more expensive.

  • Kimmwc03

I have a few items I want that I’ll try to jump on as soon as they release online. I was (am?) a fan of Selena.

  • Artie

I love Selena and have waited YEARS for a makeup line to be released for her!! Sad to say i’m a little disappointed in the packaging. I was so hoping it would have a picture of her or something more thing more than just her name/signature.
I will probably buy something just to have it for my Selena collection but since the packaging is nothing I was hoping for, it’s not as exciting to me as I always hoped it would be 🙁

  • yelena

muse am i counting right or are there 4 lippies in the pic with only 3 names and descriptions?
I think I will purchase one of the nude shades 🙂

  • Jennifer

I will never get why Mac feels the need to release an eyeliner or mascara in these kinds of collections, and it’s ALWAYS black. And for Selena? Come on, give me something packed with glitter!

        • Isabella Muse

yeah but her makeup is represented in this collection! She always wore red lips/winged liner! Seems accurate to me 😉 did you want more sparkly packaging? I feel like if they went more sparkly it wouldn’t really feel very Selena-like even though some of her clothing was sparkly. She always seemed like a jeans and tshirt kinda girl!

          • Jennifer

That’s true. I guess what I mean to say is I don’t understand why they would include a standard black mascara and eyeliner instead of say, another lipstick or eyeshadow. You’re in the know, what do you think?

          • Isabella Muse

oh I agree on that. They always include the standard black mascara/eyeliner with many of their LE collections, in this case it does make sense though as she was pretty well known for her lined eyes and long lashes! She was def a girly girl but I didn’t see her as being overly sparkly in dress or makeup In concerts yes but many of her videos she’s wearing a t and jeans or Chris’s clothes in Amor Prohibido (those are all his shirts!). But yeah, it’s true a lot of the time MAC sticks in eyeliner/mascara in their collections. I couldn’t be totally off base here though 🙂 I’ve been known to be wrong, time and time again haha!

  • Stephanie

Hi Muse, first time commenting here, but a long-time lurker, lol. I’ve been a huge fan of Selena since I was a little girl and continue to listen to her music. She was well-known for her fashion and makeup looks, that I’m so happy that her dream of having her own makeup line has finally come true. The packaging is beautiful and I’m really looking forward to buying at least one of these products especially the Amor Prohibido lipstick and the Bidi Bidi Bom Bom lipglass.

    • Isabella Muse

Hey Steph! Thanks for being a reader and thanks for chiming in today 😀 I sure hope I can get my hands on some of this too, some of the shades look incredible. She was an incredible person and it’s a shame she isn’t live to see this collection 🙁

      • Stephanie

Thank you Muse for your kind words! 🙂 I’m sad that Selena isn’t alive to see this collection too, but it’s a wonderful way to honor her memory. Kudos to the fans who made this happen.

  • Randi MacDonald

I wonder who in Selena’s family is profiting from this collab. Am I the only one who thinks its weird and creepy? She’s been gone a long time. Maybe next we will see a Prince Purple Rain collection.

    • Isabella Muse

From my understanding her sister helped with the collection. It could be going to charity maybe?! Nothing was mentioned about that but considering that she was a generous person perhaps proceeds from this is going to some sort of charity.
