Colourpop Brady Supersock Shadow Review & Swatches
Colourpop Brady Supersock Shadow ($5) is dusky matte rose eyeshadow that launched with the Colorpop Fall 2016 Collection a few months ago. At the time, I wasn’t paying too much attention to Colourpop. Why? Because I’m a little over their shadow formula.
WHAT!???!
I know, I know…give me a second to explain.
I’m getting older contrary to what the inner teenage boy that lives inside my subconscious says (it’s like a Danny moment from the Shining around here, no, not really. Well, maybe!) No, but seriously, as I get older my drier, finely lined eyes are starting to understand all the raving about matte eyeshadow. I get it now, truly I do. Don’t get me wrong I love me some shimmer and when I’m 90 I’ll still love it and wear it. But sometimes, matte eyeshadow is a lot nicer. Colourpop has a damn fine formula but there eyeshadows are laced with so much sparkle things begin to look cakey, frosty, and just too much. It’s a lot of everything going on with some of their shades. This along with drier, finely lined eyes has made me skip out on a couple of collections.
I discovered the joys of Colourpop’s matte formula when I purchased Intoxicate from the Rumer Has It Collection which was a collaboration between Colourpop and Rumer Willis when she was on Dancing with the Stars. I don’t think I ever reviewed that color but it appears in many, many of my natural eye looks. Please bring it back Colourpop! Needless to say I’ve been going a little crazy lately with Colourpop matte shades. I really like the formula and I love how well the shades adhere to my lid. They also pair up very well with some of Colourpop’s more shimmery shades.
Colourpop Brady Supersock Shadow is one such color. This is a completely matte, shimmer-free formula. It’s a gorgeous dusky rose that compliments my complexion very nicely. I’m always looking for nice shades of pink that work with my warmer yet lighter skin tone and this was perfect! It’s a great no fuss shade that applies easily and looks outstanding alone or paired up with a nice winged out eyeliner! Or you can even apply a little sparkle on top should you like.
The formula is Colourpop’s typical clay-like texture that’s a hybrid cream to powder texture which is much like the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes that released several years ago. I find the formula a breeze to use and I never had an issue with colors drying out or hardening over time. They also quite remind me of MAC’s Electric Cool Eyeshadow right down to the chunky pots these come in although these are white compared to MAC’s black pot.
If you’re looking for a delight dusky rose eyeshadow shade I’d highly recommend checking out Colourpop Brady Supersock Shadow! It doesn’t disappoint!
