Maybelline Baby Lips Color Balm Crayon Review & Swatches
Maybelline Baby Lips Color Balm Crayon are new, upcoming Spring 2017 launch of chubby lip crayons that are available eight shade selections. I picked up two Maybelline Baby Lips Color Balm Crayons last week and promptly cried myself to sleep I didn’t get more.
As you know, I’m not a huge Baby Lips fan! They are nice and over the years the formula has improved considerably with many of the releases. For example, I really like the Baby Lips Crystal Lip Balms! But in the long run, Baby Lips is just a sheer, very lightly moisturizing lip balm.
Well, be prepared to take everything you know about Baby Lips and throw it right out the windw because Maybelline Baby Lips Color Balm Crayon is about to rock your socks right off.
These come in a sleek chubby barrel that 0.09 oz of product. The tip of the balm is a rounded dome shape and fits the shape and contour of my lips beautifully well.
According to the display these new crayons promise a burst of of bright juicy color. Hmmm, oh really? I had my doubts. I instantly though well, these must be the Japanese Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow formula but nope, they are entirely different!
Did I mention they are pigmented as hell? I picked up Toasted Taupe and Sassy Scarlet and both were opaque on a single application. I had to go a little sheerer with Toasted Taupe in my photos below because the shade looks a bit chalky on me but believe me these are pigmented. I mean just look at Sassy Scarlet on my lips! The texture on these is a little heavier than the regular Baby Lips line and considerably more pigmented with a thicker, balmy texture and a hint of a shine finish. They wear comfortably on my lips for a solid four hours, I got five hours from Sassy Scarlet. They do have a flavor but no fragrance. Sassy Scarlet had a cherry-ish flavor where as Toasted Taupe had a caramel/vanilla-like fragrance.
All in all, Maybelline Baby Lips Color Balm Crayon is a refreshing change from the standard Baby Lips Collection! These little pigmented balms are sure to be a huge hit with those of us that have been disappointed with the sheerness and lighter moisture that the original Baby Lips formula provided. Only thing missing? SPF!
