Hard Candy Sheer Envy Coconut Primer Stick Review

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Coconut Primer Stick ($8) is a new, refreshing facial primer stick that’s a part of the Hard Candy Spring 2017 Collection. This little stick preps makeup for skin with a cool, refreshing feel. Primer sticks like this aren’t new by any means! A few year’s ago they were pretty popular and still are in Asia. You likely read my review for a few already like the DuWop Flight Stick, Skin Food Facial Ice Vita Cooling Stick, Milk Makeup Cooling Water, and E.L.F. Studio Daily Moisture Stick.

But there’s always room for hydrating sticks in my beauty arsenal.

Here’s a review and some good thoughts on the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Coconut Primer Stick.

This little guy will set you back a mere $8 bucks comes housed in a rather pretty ombre aqua chunky twist up tube that houses 0.42 oz of product. This is a water based formula with a light, subtle aquatic scent that’s cool to the touch. It has a smooth, easy glide on my dry skin and feels very refreshing. It’s just as good if not better than Milk’s Makeup Cooking Water Stick plus a fraction of the cost.

You don’t have to limit yourself to using it as a makeup primer in my opinion. It just as easily works as a skincare product as well should you like. The nifty design means you can carry it anywhere with you for quickie touch ups on the go. It’s particularly nice if you travel a lot and the stale air in a plane makes you skin dry. You can just swipe this on and pat gently into your skin and it’ll leave your skin feel soft, lightly hydrated, and cooled but not sticky, tacky, nor oily or shiny. Just about any skin type will benefit from using it as the formula isn’t one that makes you greasy, oil, or dewy. It provides very lightweight hydration that sets a smooth, softened canvas for foundation. I wouldn’t say it prolonged makeup wear but if you suffer from drier cheeks or areas on your face that are less than smooth this acts to add moisture to your foundation has a smooth, soft surface to adhere to. Again, I wouldn’t limit use to priming your face though as you can also use this under your eyes for a little cooling and moisture or anywhere your face needs a little moisture when you’re on the go.

I loved this and would purchase it again!

Thank you for posting the ingredients!

Even though I’ve been eating coconut with everything all my life, coconut oil still gives me huge, deep, painful breakouts that take forever to heal. I’m so relieved that this has the non-breakout-inducing ingredients of the coconut and hyaluronic acid — I live in a place that’s quite rainy and foggy during this time of year, and this is a nice way to take advantage of that by absorbing the water from the atmosphere (as opposed to a Hada Labo Gokujyun splashing open all over my purse).

Aw my pleasure I’m glad to hear it helped! Yea Gokujyun isn’t exactly travel friendly 🙂

Can I ask which are the ‘bad’ ingredients of coconut and hyaluronic acid to look out for and the good?

Hi there, Isabella. I read your post on the ELF Moisture stick in conjunction with this review and was wondering which of the two you prefer for adding a little touch of Moisture into the skin for a mid day fix of dry patches and flaky facial skin/makeup. I have a couple of the ELF sticks and use a bit of tone product on my fingers to reinvigorate dry under eyes, rehydrate and seal down flaky skin in winter, and tame flyaway hairs along my part. It’s convenient and versatile, but not the most hydrating. I am wondering if I would have better success with the Hard Candy. Any thought? Thanks in advance!

My pleasure let me know what you think! We tend to like the same things 😀

In the winter, we certainly do. My under eyes are a desert wasteland of parched decrepitude ant the rest of my face can do Pillsbury proud in the flake department! All that goodness and I still have perimenopause to look forward to in the coming years. Yay me.

Interesting this has no silicones in it, hopefully I can find it in the UK to try!

Just bought this today and I love the cooling feeling it gives. I’m definitely going to be using this a lot this summer! Thanks for the review, it’s so new I couldn’t find much information online, but I trust you so it’s reassuring to know I got something good and you post it on the same day I bought it! Lol

Great review!!!!! Sounds like such an interesting product. It reminds me of that panda cooling under eye stick from Tony Moly. What do you think is the best moisturizer for dry skin under $50??? Hahaha I’m on a budget but my dry skin is killing me, thanks for your help girl <333

Just picked this up today after reading your review! The cooling effect does not last as long as I would like but otherwise it is an excellent product! I applied it after cleansing and before my foundation and after applying it my skin felt a little tighter and hydrated- really enjoying it!

    • Isabella Muse

Yay! glad to hear it! yeah the cooling effect is only temporary but it still feels nice during the initial application!

Love the sound of this no silicone and hydrating. Will be getting it! I rub coconut all over my body especially legs after shaving and can’t compare to anything else I have used to keep the smooth and soft! Coconut is! My favorite ice cream flavor.
