The new Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Highlighting Eyeshadow Palette Vol. III is now available at Sephora.com. If you headed out early today to attend the Sephora VIB Rouge Event you likely already have this one in your beauty arsenal but for the sleepy heads you can now purchase it online!

This is obviously the third version of the popular Rainforest of the Sea Palette however note the “highlighting” in the title. Hmm…Tarte wants to get all the highlighter they can in lately! You might want to read my ridiculous thoughts on the new Rainforest of the Sea Radiance Drops.

Like past palettes, you get eight eyeshadows in this palette and I’m guessing they have the same powder gel creamy hybrid formula ad past palettes. It really is a formula that’s different and exciting for Tarte not to mention it applies and performs very well. This time around they are apparently going for an instant eye-illuminating effect with these shades thanks to oxygenated light-reflecting spheres that highlight lids. Wait, there’s more! There’s a matte nude transition color to pair up with the colors so eyes appear more awake and brighter. Well, I’m on board with that but not so sure about the oxygenated whatever spheres.

Shades include:

  • Escape (nude pink luster)
  • Tiki (matte beige)
  • Heat Wave (pink luster)
  • Malibu (plum bronze)
  • Rays (peachy copper)
  • Compass (champagne)
  • Jewel (copper)
  • Treasure (pearlescent)

Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Highlighting Eyeshadow Palette Vol. III is available now at Sephora.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. “oxygenated whatever spheres”
hahaha! Thank you for the giggle this morning!

lol! I swear some of these descriptions get more and more technical 😀 It’s eyeshadow not a rocket headed to the moon!

It looks like to me that these Tarte shades are very similar to other shades in previous Tarte palettes. None of these shades look “wow” to me.

    • Sara

That was my exact thought too. The shades look VERY similar to the first palette with a few extra lighter colors thrown in (which don’t do anything for me lol). I think I can survive skipping this one since I have Vol I and II and the Make Believe one too. I used the Vol I and II in combo for bridesmaids makeup this weekend and it looked gorgeous.

I have the I & II palettes n i find the formula strange. With brush these crmble, flake and powder n shed in the palette. I don’t get any pigmentation on lids. But when applied with fingers they are amazing. So much nicer n stay for so so long. But then you are to apply these with fingers? In fact i am scared buying any Tarte palette fearing its similar formula.

    • Isabella Muse

They actually market it for use with fingers. I use a sponge tipped eyeshadow applicator for application and that helps pile on color well! 😀

Really… I did not know this now. I will try the applicator thing. Thanks..

    • Agona

I use a stiff natural hair brush for the crease and a flat dense synthetic brush for the lid and have had no issues–I prefer denser formulas though and I don’t really own any fluffy brushes.

I think I need this in my life! Do you know if this will be coming to Ulta?

    • Isabella Muse

Rainforest of the Sea is exclusive to Sephora, Ulta gets the Double Duty Beauty Collection. So, this sadly won’t pop up at Ulta.

The word highlighting for this palette worries me. I think I’ll wait for swatches.
