Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer found it’s way into my cart recently because concealer junkie that I am couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try out a new concealer. Instant Full Cover Concealer is appealing for a variety of reason one of which being I used to be a strong fan and supporter of Bobbi’s Creamy Concealer Kit. Although, the first few times using it I wasn’t a big fan but after spending time with it the more I grew to love it.

I grew out of it though and ended up passing it over for other concealers but I always remembered how great a coverage Bobbi’s concealer’s provided. So, whenever she introduces a new one I’m first in line to try it which is exactly how things went down when Instant Full Cover Concealer launched.

Here’s my review and thoughts on it.

Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer arrives in a 0.20 oz tube that will set you back $30 and comes in 15 shade selections. This has rounded tip applicator that’s completely round all the way around. That was a mouth full but you get my meaning I hope!? Think of a can of Pringles on a much smaller scale as this is exactly how it’s shaped. This is important and I’ll explain why further into my review.

I picked up the shade Beige but I could have probably went up one shade because this was a little pale so, shades do seem to run a little lighter keep this in mind when purchasing shades blindly online.

One of the more appealing aspects of this formula is the fact it promises to brighten but also softens the hollows of eyes. When I’m tired the hallows of my eyes seems quite vast and not nearly as plumped up as I would like them to be. So, a concealer that will soften the appearance of hollows of my eyes sounded good. They promote the formula as being lightweight, highly pigmented, and crease-less that doesn’t require setting with powder as well as long-lasting with a waterproof formula. Much of this is true because this formula is simply a variation of their original Creamy Concealer formula that comes in a pot but a little lighter in consistency. To me it’s almost as if they melted down the Creamy Concealer formula and poured it into a tube. The main difference is the fact that this formula is a little thinner and a little lighter but the emollient or tacky formula is much the same. It’s still thick but a lot thinner than the potted formula and not necessarily creamy but more emollient or as some people describe it, tacky or sticky. I’ve always described it as greasepaint, the kind you use at Halloween or even theater makeup. The tackiness does work in your favorite as it prevents it from creasing and allows it to wear long and repel water or sweat. I find the blending process can be a chore and tugging is involved if you don’t prep well. A little eye cream followed by a tiny drop of facial oil goes a long way to ease the blending process if you have drier eyes. Oily eyes will find it a lot easier to blend though and you’ll also find the tackiness will allow for longer wear as it adheres well to skin even oily skin. I mentioned above about the rounded applicator and wanted to spend a little time on this. The applicator is horrible. They really should have went with a flocked one as the rounded tip makes it difficult to remove the concealer from the barrel. The concealer is quite pigmented but applies sheerer because you’ll struggle getting the sponge saturated enough with formula. The rounded tip fights you at every turn! It also makes application under the eyes a little cumbersome. I’m used to a flexible flocked head that bends easily and fits into the curves of my eyes easily. This doesn’t do that.

As for wear, it was fairly good. The concealer didn’t crease nor did it fade throughout my busy day. I was slightly disappointed with the coverage as although pigmented I just simply couldn’t build it enough or get enough under my eyes due to the poor applicator. It brightens yes, but didn’t completely cover my finer lines, puffiness, and the tired hollows under my eyes.

Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer could be better. I think it all comes down to the applicator here. If you liked and used Bobbi’s Creamy Concealer you should be just fine with Instant Full Cover Concealer. However, if you hated the Creamy Concealer texture and formula this isn’t for you. However, do keep in mind the applicator hinders this formula a lot and doesn’t allow it to live up to it’s true potential. They really need to re-think the applicator and if they do I might just be more inclined to rave.

Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer is available now at sephora.com and nordstrom.com.

Right!? I think I would have been happier with the formula and application if the applicator wasn’t such a b*tch!

      • Diana

Exactly well said! It’s such a Pita. I’ve gotta psych myself up to use it…I don’t even care how good the formula is or not

I totally agree it was thick though it seemed like hardly any was in the tube because hardly any got on the brush and I have bad dark circles and fine lines and dryness 🙁 and it did not do much for me either

ugh! Same here! It’s pigmented for sure but the applicator makes it impossible to get out of the tube!

Uh oh I was quite excited about this one but now I’m not sure! Will have to go and check it out once it gets here, I’m told later this month.

I’m very curious about your thoughts on it! The applicator killed the formula for me 🙁
