Too Faced White Chocolate Bar Palette Promises a Pastel Holiday Season

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

By now you’ve seen the images of the Too Faced White Chocolate Bar Palette splashed all over every social media site this side of the moon. By now you’ve probably sat there, tilting your head to the side, and questioning whether or not you need it or not. And by now you might even be thinking, “Jesus, pastels why?!?!?!” Or was that only me?

Update: Now available at Sephora.com.

And most importantly, by now you’re thinking please don’t be as bad as the Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Eyeshadow Palette because I can’t suffer another bad makeup moment in my life.

The good news is we’ll be able to find out shortly if Too Faced White Chocolate Bar Palette will be available at Sephora.com starting 11/21 and 11/22 for Rouge and VIB Members and everyone else on 11/23.

I’m dreading the idea of this one because I’ve finally admitted that I can’t do pastels. They just look chalky on me. On that note, I think it’s actually good that Too Faced went this route simply because lately the market is saturated with warm, rich shades of browns and neutrals and many makeup junkies literally cringe when yet ANOTHER nude, neutral palette arrives on the scene. I mean, a bolder, brighter palette release wouldn’t go amiss to do away with all the “boring browns” but pastels are a step in the right direction? Sort of? Depends how you view it I guess.

I’ll so be first line to buy the Too Faced White Chocolate Bar Palette simply because I always like to get a review and swatches live for all of you but I’m not holding my breath this one is going to actually work for me. I fear chalky, dry shades of eyeshadow or worst still perhaps dense, dry ones.

But Too Faced, please, try not to disappoint me!

Shades include:

  • Mint Chocolate (matte smoky teal)
  • Glaze (matte cream)
  • Cake Batter (matte soft peach
  • Exotica (silvered beige)
  • Chocolate Syrup (matte pinky mocha)
  • Pearl Candy (shimmering icy white)
  • Raspberry Rose (soft golden pink)
  • Indulge (silvered taupe)
  • Lavender Cake (matte lavender)
  • Guilt-Free (matte cool grey)
  • Smoked Sea Salt (matte charcoal grey)
  • Frosted Apricot (matte apricot with silver sparkle)
  • Cookie Dough (matte beige with gold sparkle)
  • Sugared Raisin (shimmering silver mauve)
  • Black Sugar (black with holographic sparkle)
  • Banana Date (soft creamy satin beige)

Too Faced White Chocolate Bar Palette arrives at Sephora.com starting November 21st.

I think it looks terrible. The shades are a boring, bland mix that make no sense together. Pastels plus a sick (in the old-fashioned sense of the word) looking green, plus hey, let’s throw in one of our crappy black glitters!

People will buy it because of the name and the packaging, but I am so over TF. If I did an anti-haul post this palette would be at the top of the list. Don’t even get me started on the horrible quality of their holiday releases last year. Bah, humbug.

  • Sara

I’m not really a fan of the color selection. I feel like it’s a bunch of random colors from other TF palettes. I’ll have to pass on this one. 🙁

    • Isabella Muse

I’m with you! I don’t really like the line up either!

  • kjh

The names do look familiar, rehashed. Some of those did not do well the first time around. Thank God for blogs, or I might have sprung for that Nadir of palettes, Chocolate Chip. I have zero trust in tf, adorable dog notwithstanding. I’d go for pastel goth, if rerelased, and might spring for the Zoeva pastel palette. Maybe it’s the deep set eyes, but pastels do ok for me, more color-true than chalky, even when white based.

  • Maria

Me either. Boring pastels. Easy pass. Plus their quality went downhill after TF company was sold.

  • Nicole

I’m really excited! Such a fresh departure from another damn warm palette release!

    • Thea

Me too! I can’t wear most warm tones, so most beauty releases lately are “meh” to me. But this one actually has some colors I can wear and don’t have. I just hope they are of a higher quality than most of TF’s other holiday releases.

  • hope

hey Muse what do you end up doing with the products you buy to review but don’t like? do you return them? keep them in hopes of one day changing your mind? or do your friends and family get a lot of free gifts lol

    • Isabella Muse

It’s be crazy abusive to buy stuff, swatch, use, and review it and proceed to return it. That’s not something I do. I wouldn’t want Sephora, Ulta, etc to lose money like that 🙂 It’s a rare day I return anything. I typically keep color cosmetics so I can reference back to shades or formulas/textures. Skincare, fragrance and other oddities end up being donated or I give them to my mom and she gives them to her senior group. I also have a pile of items I keep in a bin which friend’s enjoy picking through. Anything I get that’s a sample which is unused I keep until I have a big pile and I donate it to a girl’s club they use during major events like Prom etc for girl’s that can’t afford higher end cosmetics/makeup/beauty.

      • Susan

Kudos to you. I’m so tired of reading about people who buy everything that catches their eye and then return the majority of it. That’s money lost for stores and manufacturers, and the rest of us end up paying for it. I think we should try our best to be careful shoppers and not be wasteful.

Cosmetics, nail polish, etc. that I don’t want, I either give to family members or donate to charitable groups too. Fave group is one for homeless teens. It would shock you to know how many girls don’t have a change of clothing, much less anything pretty like a bottle of nail polish.

        Off my soapbox now! 😉

        • Isabella Muse

No way, that would be like stealing because I buy a lot of stuff to review on the blog and if I returned every item I hated (which as you know I tend to pick apart everything and all the faults lol) I’d be stealing from stores basically. It just gets tossed into a pile and my friends enjoy picking through it or my mom/etc if it’s gently used or new-ish I can donate. ITA! people tend to purchase items on a whim that they end up regretting! It’s important to think before leaping.

      • Agona

Hey, Muse, question (you might not know) but I used to donate gently used items to a women’s shelter (those trying to get out of a domestic abuse situation). But that was in Missouri and Maryland laws require donated cosmetics to be new and sealed so I have no where to donate here. Do you know of any groups that would take mail-in donations?

        • Isabella Muse

I know you can mail in mascara wands to appalachian wild refuge. I highly recommend it. I toss mascara after 60 days anyway so, I remove the wand, pop it in my dishwasher, set it aside, and when I have like 5 or more I send them off to appalachian. Here’s the form if you want to do so: http://www.appalachianwild.org/uploads/2/6/0/1/26015795/w4w-wandrecycleform.pdf I haven’t heard of any donations via mail to be honest but maybe the Beauty Bus Foundation takes mail ins!? You can contact them and ask! I know they work with a variety of brands but I’m not sure on their personal donation rules. Have you tried drug rehab programs in different states? A lot of the drug rehab programs here in New York do outreach for woman recovering from addictions. I’ve donated to them a lot and they are always really grateful because a lot of the woman are trying to get back on their feet and want to look good for job interviews, etc….I don’t know if they do mail in donations but you can try calling around!?

          • SarahS

Great information, Muse. Honestly, I would beg for your Pastel Goth pallette or anyone’s for that matter. I missed out on that one, I know your review wasn’t favorable, but I’d beg!! Ha ha (Not kidding)

          • Isabella Muse

Thanks glad you thought so. I don’t own Pastel Goth at all, didn’t review it either!

        • Robin

Project Beauty Share takes gently used cosmetics, sterilizes them and gives them to women in shelters. They are only in Washington, but they’ve applied for a grant to expand their service. I’m working on sending them a box right now. 🙂

      • Kish

I picture a room in your house that looks like a giant candy store. Acrylic bins full of colorful items that you don’t love, skin care stacked to the ceiling. It’s so beautiful *single tear*

  • Michelle

This looks a lot like the sneak of the Clover Pallet. I only like the bon bons pallet from these chocolate bars. I guess I like the cooler colors.

  • Carol

This looks god-awful! I have all of their chocolate bar palettes and this will be a skip for me. In the words of Comic Book Guy: Worst color selection of a palette ever!

I can’t even make heads or tails on how I would use it!

  • Sarah

This palette makes zero sense.I’m not one to say all palettes must be able to create a complete look because all brights, jewel tones, etc have their place but this is a mess.Light pastels aren’t my best look anyway as I have fair skin and they tend to disappear on my face and wash me out.

    • Agona

That’s so interesting because I always thought pastels were meant for the really fair or really dark girls. I’m light-medium and used to be like “why do they even make these when no one lines them??” and can’t wear them but then I found out my BFF who’s slightly ginger in coloring loves them. I dunno!

      • Sarah

Part of it might be my undertones. My father is a meduim-tan warm yellowish olive skin tone and my mom is a fair, very cool pink skin tone.I have both so I’m a neutral fair-light skin tone that appears more on the warmer side but that changes with the lighting.

They seem to be fairly trick and an acquired taste to be sure.

  • Moda31

This palette looks like a mess, and as a lover of white chocolate that is highly disappointing.

  • Becky

Ugh…….I feel like all this recent negativity about their products (especially their holiday lineup) is eventually going to catch up with them. Their “limited edition” spring neutrals palette is still available…nothing is selling out like they hoped. I read somewhere that it takes 2 years from initial development of a product to release, so hopefully the tide will start turning soon and some better products are in the lineup.

  • Sjofna

This palette kinda makes me angry- why do they think we need or want this?!?! Except for the oddball green, orange, and peach, I have all these colors in their other chocolate palettes. Plus they’re supposed to be coming out with the Clover palette? And all the holiday palettes? And wasn’t there a collab with a beauty blogger that’s supposed to come out (or did it with no press?) They need to stop regurgitating the same crap over and over. Just focus on one really good palette for the year and I (and most customers) would be so much happier than multiple low quality products that we’re being over saturated with. I know other brands are doing this too, but it seems to be that Too Faced is the worst for it.

    • Isabella Muse

The Kandee Johnson Collection is coming out in August and so is the Clover Palette.

    • Susan

“Just focus on one really good palette for the year and I (and most customers) would be so much happier than multiple low quality products that we’re being over saturated with. ” Preach it, sista. ABH does this, more or less, and my local Ulta can’t keep their one palette (Mod Ren) in stock, it’s so popular.

    • Lhvoyles

Good thing no one is forcing you to buy it, then. I personally think it’s ugly and incohesive and I won’t be buying it, but I’m not going to get legitimately angry about it, especially since this company is cruelty free, so no animals are being tested on for an ugly release.

  • Megan

I think it’s hideous. And I’m glad I hate it because otherwise I’d buy it. I know me. Haha thanks for helping me save my money, TF.

  • Nikole

Mixed feelings here. On the one hand, TF has a recent history of poor quality in their shadow palettes that is surely affecting some people’s decision to try their products. On the other hand, I actually kind of like (gasp) SOME of these colors. I guess that it is not yet another screaming warm palette helps; although I’m not crazy about the peach and warmer toned pink shades, and the black matte/glitter shade seems to have a bad reputation; but some of the other shades on the palette seem nice. Not that I need ANY new shadows at all. I will watch for (beauty bloggers only) reviews on this one.

  • Nancy

The colors don’t wow me,in fact they look like colors I already have in other TF palettes ,so a skip for me 🙂

  • Cindy

This palette doesn’t look cohesive. These shades don’t go well together. TF needs to scrap this palette and start over from scratch. It’s a disaster. Really disappointed with TF lately. And don’t even get me started on all their peach themed stuff. It’s so overkill, I’m ready to start punching peaches.

    • Lhvoyles

Have you even tried the new Peaches and cream line? It’s amazing. It is one of the few sets of face make up that lasts all day on my oily skin.

  • Cindy

Did they pick the colors for this palette by playing pin the tail on the donkey? That’s sure what it looks like. Sheesh.

  • Brandy

It looks like colors people used in their homes in the 60s and 70s. That green is the same color as my toilet in my old house.

  • Linda

I’m not saying it’s a great color palette, but I can see that if you look at the colors on the diagonal it gives you more options. However, that doesn’t guarantee the quality will be there eve n if you see colors that you might want to try

  • Bren

Is it just me or are some of these colors very similar to the Chocolate Gold palette?

    • Nikole

OMG i am so glad that someone else said this! Not an exact match, but yes I think so too — just that the gold palette is mostly shimmer!

      • Bren

I am so glad I am not the only one either, lol. You are so right, not an exact match, but kinda close

      • Bren

Sorry for 2 posts, but take out the pink and purple, and they are darn close

  • Carol G

This looks awful. Can’t/won’t do pastels. Saw swatches and they are a chalky mess. The reviewer said this was akin to the awful mini white chocolate palette they did awhile ago. I see this on sale/clearance soon.

  • CosmetopiaDigest.com

I’m yellow-olive, and pastels look terrible on me, so no. I liked the packaging of the Chocolate Gold Bar (I actually misspelt Bar here first; I wouldn’t mind me some chocolate gold undies) which TF previewed on YouTube. But the shades inside were a bit of a let-down at first glance. We’ll see.

  • Sarah

If I wasn’t trying to downsize my makeup I’d be tempted. I’m so pale that most pallets I have , half the colors don’t get uses as they are way too dark for my liking. I have the semi sweet palette and as much as I love it I only use 5 or 6 of the shades in it. The darks tend to go unused as the medium colors are more than dark enough. My problem is that there never seems to be enough light colors and the ones that are included tend to disappear into my skintone.

  • Dany

I seem to be the only one here who is actually excited to see this palette. I love TF, but most of their eyeshadows are a little darker than ideal for me, at least for daytime wear (which is the only wear my makeup ever gets). I’m pretty good at using very gentle hand while applying eyeshadow, but have been hoping that the brand would come up with a palette consisting of lighter shades.
I am a natural blonde with fair skin and blue eyes, so am excited to see the pinky-peaches and, well, just light colors in general. The color balance between warmer and cooler shades looks good as well.
I admit that the “color pop” shades of green and lilac look a bit weird at least on the screen, but they do seem to match the overall color scheme. Also, the black -even though it’s a glittery black looks a bit lost in here. It doesn’t look like the best possible lining color here. These colors will be a challenge, but then I’m the weirdo who actually likes to have some challenge in my eyeshadow palettes.
So yeah, I’m going to buy this palette and then I’m going to rock it!

  • Mariele

Odd one out here because all of these shades look wearable on me and right up my alley. I’ve been dying for some muted, greyed out pastels since they look best on me (very fair with very cool/pink undertones and red hair) so I’m excited! Hoping this isn’t a bomb like ALL of TF’s recent palettes. 🙁

  • Kristen

Thanks for sharing! I saw this palette drop on Sephora, but the colors just seem so impractical. I think pastels like these are way too hard to pull off, plus, I’m not a fan of Too Faced’s formula lately. It seems to be going down in quality, and always a hit or miss 🙁 I like the peachy mattes palette, but other palettes are really disappointing!

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure! They really do seem quite impractical! Even fairer tones might struggle with this color selection! They do indeed 🙁 Lately, many of their eyeshadow palettes are horribly formulated 🙁

  • Michelle

it’s remotely interesting to me but I already have the Lorac one that I recently got and am quite happy with it so will pass on this one
