Catrice Lip Cushion Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Inspired by Asian beauty trends Catrice Lip Cushion ($6.49) is a new lipgloss formulated with avocado oil to leave lips hydrated with a blast of pretty color. Catrice launched these in six shade selections and their entire line is Buy 1, Get 1 50% at Ulta.com at the moment so now is a great time to indulge.

I purchased a single shade at full price but heading back in for a purchase of more since I really loved these.

Here’s my thoughts and review.

Catrice Lip Cushion (0.11 oz) comes housed in a chubby click pen wand with an attached fluffy little cushion applicator which is reminiscent of ones we’ve seen on concealers such as Revlon Youth FX Fill + Blur Concealer, Erborian Touch Pen Complexion Sculptor and Concealer, and Visee CC Concealer. I think the applicator is a touch too big. The idea in theory is fun and even seems like a good idea but it’s a bit too large for mouth and works best with concealer versus lipgloss. They should have done an applicator more alone the lines of the smaller rubbery cushion that Wet n Wild Mega Cushion Soft Matte Lip Cream and Sephora Wonderful Cushion Matte Lip Cream has. If you have wider, larger lips it won’t be an issue but it took me a little getting used before I was able to apply without going outside my lip line. A smidge smaller of an applicator and they would have been golden.

Catrice Lip Cushion Swatches (Better Make a Mauve)

Applicator aside the formula is wonderful. This is a thick slightly tacky lipgloss with no fragrance or flavor. It has excellent pigmentation on a single layer with a high-shine finish and a beautiful plush, pouty appearance. It wears for a solid five hours without migrating or feather and looks smooth and even through the wear. It’s quite hydrating as well and feels quite moist throughout the wear.

I had a little struggle with the applicator but overall, the Catrice Lip Cushion was wonderful! Pigment, moisturizing, and comfortably long-wearing! Not to mention inexpensive!

Love these!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I bought them all except two colors and I may go back for them as well!! These are so comforting on the lips. They are not tacky and just feel like they are protecting your lips, in a sense, by keeping the soft and hydrated. Not a fan of the spongy thing and it may get a trim with scissors down the road, but the formula is wonderful. This is one of the best purchases I’ve made this year!

Have you tried their Vitamin Lip Treatment? Heaven!! I apply it at night and it’s heavy like Vaseline, but it stays on all night!!

Agreed! I found them slightly tacky but not unpleasantly so! Quite hydrating too 😀 Yay! Glad you’re loving! I haven’t yet, I’ll need to check that out next!

Glad to hear you liked this because I bought one a few weeks ago and agree with you, they feel wonderful on the lips. I might get this color you reviewed next. It looks pretty.

I think you’ve reinforced the old cliche that things ” come in threes”! Cause this look, also, is awesome, gorgeous, amazing!!! This has been a vey uplifting newsletter! “I’ve never seen you looking lovelier than you look tonight” ( “Lady in Red” … I think … )
