A most beloved and slightly hated that crossed my desk recently was the new It Cosmetics Sweet Cheeks Bye Bye Pores Blush. Bye Bye Pores Blush launched last year with the It Cosmetics Your Bye Bye Breakthroughs QVC Todays Special Value. Since that launch their has only been one shade available of this blush and I’ve loved it to death since its introduction.

Luck would have that with the It Cosmetics Fall 2017 launch they introduced two more shades, Sweet Cheeks being one of those shades. Even more lucky is the fact that Sweet Cheeks is a shimmer finish as the original shade was matte. You know how much I adore shimmer.

Here’s my thoughts on the new shade shade Sweet Cheeks!

I have a love/hate relationship with It Cosmetics Sweet Cheeks Bye Bye Pores Blush. It is unfortunately, not the smooth, silky, seamless blush I know and love. The shimmer is a real issue with this shade but on the other hand I love that shimmer. So, yeah, dilemmas.

The idea of formula of Bye Bye Pores Blush was diffuse the look of pores and imperfections. It was created with sheer but buildable color that once applied would look smooth and seamless on skin without accentuating pores, finer lines, or unevenly textured skin. Unfortunately, the shade Sweet Cheeks misses the market on so many levels here. Where as the original formula was completely free of shimmer and had a soft, silky texture this new shade is loaded with glitter and has a chunkier, drier, grittier texture that does cling to drier areas and is prone to accentuating pores. They just laced it with a bit too much shimmer. I don’t have visible pores but I do have drier skin and I had to be sure that I laid a good base down before applying this blush as it can look very patchy and imperfect if I’m not careful to prep well with primer. It can be a little difficult to pick up with a brush as well and is easily overdone as dusting it on gives it a subtle pay off but when you had back in and apply another layer suddenly you have a bad case of clown cheeks. Building can prove tricky at times.

But how I love the color! I can’t express how much I adore this shade. It quite reminds me of Tarte Glisten, NARS Orgasm, and MAC Sweet Vision Magic Dust Powder. The shade is a gorgeous golden coral pink. It takes time and patience but if you apply it correctly it’ll light up your entire face with luminous, gorgeous color that catches the light beautifully.

It’s a shame that it proves difficult to work with and that the texture isn’t as silky as the original formula but if I’m honest, I’d totally buy it again if I ran out because the color is stunning and the chaos of applying it is so worth the gorgeous end result!

Do check it out in stores if you can! You might just fall in love with it.

I seriously don’t know what they were thinking putting out a blush with shimmer that’s supposed to minimize pores. I love the original shade of Bye Bye Pores Blush, but I can’t get on board with this one!
