Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette Brings Together Some of the Silkiest Drugstore Matte Eyeshadows I Ever Tried

Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette ($20) is a new eyeshadow palette that contains 12 silky matte eyeshadows which are some of the silkiest drugstore mattes I ever did try. I mean, let’s be honest for a second, a short time ago (like eight years or so ago) matte eyeshadow wasn’t exactly at the height of awesomeness. My first experience with a matte eyeshadow came in the form of an eyeshadow I purchased from Bobbi Brown. Holy cow it was dry as hell. I could not blend it to save my life! This was at least ten years ago or so. Not a lot has changed lately with Bobbi Brown but that’s a story for another day.

As for drugstore matte eyeshadow well, let’s just say that was a zone you did not enter unless you wanted to be sucked into the vortex of the Demogorgon. No seriously, drugstore mattes aren’t exactly friendly. They are typically dry, firm, chalky, or all three.

Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette doesn’t suck you into that vortex, it just gifts you some some of the silkiest drugstore matte eyeshadows I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying.

I recently hauled and reviewed the Milani Bold Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette and was crazy pleased with the texture, formula, and pigment of the eyeshadows. The $20 price tag shocked me but after trying the palette out I’d say it was the best $20 I’ve spent at the drugstore recently. Truly it was a killer palette that was well formulated.

Bold Obsessions launched online and I ordered it right away but much to my horror the next day the Milani Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palette arrived and I wasn’t willing to pay shipping so I decided I’d wait it out and see if I could find it in stores. Well, it was some time before I did locate it in store. I can’t confirm but these palettes seem to be available exclusively at Walmart and maybe Target too. They just prove really hard to find anywhere else. But finally I got a hold of this little guy at Walmart about three weeks ago and I haven’t let it out of my sight since!

This is such a great eyeshadow palette that was obviously well thought out before launching. It comes with 12 shades and arrives in a elegant gold compact with black accents and a generously-sized mirror inside. I always find Milani’s packaging rather cheap and cheesy. Sorry! But I have to admit the packaging on both of these new eyeshadow palettes is quite lovely and dare I say elegant? It’s presented very beautifully.

Packaging aside though the real star of the show are the eyeshadows. You get 12 nude, natural shades which are all matte in finish. The shadows are richly pigmented with a soft, silky, buttery texture that wasn’t powdery, dry, or chalky. I was so impressed with how easily they applied and blended without showing signs of patchiness in the least as some mattes are prone to doing. The colors are very, very rich in color and they apply beautifully individually or blended together.

Milani has basically ruined me for all other drugstore eyeshadows. They really set the level high and it’s going to be pretty hard for other brands to reach this standard. Maybe it’ll goad others like Maybelline, Revlon, L’Oreal, etc…to step up their game because truly this quality is amazing and rivals mid and high-range eyeshadow palettes far and wide.

Great job Milani!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I just got this about 3 weeks ago too and absolutely love it! It’s all I’ve used since then. I think I like it better than the Sonja Kashuk matte palette that came out many moons ago.

I actually have an entire area I discussed/wrote about where I purchased it and how I found it in the post 🙂 It was walmart.

Wally World 2.0 is on my way home. I NEVER look for m/u there. Everybody says matte for oldbies, like me. Well dry matte just makes the aging factors worse, and you have to satin or shimmer it up a smidge or risk looking like a Sharpei. Not even Viseart mattes are all perfection, every palette. This looks well worth the 20. Going to intragoogle, to see if you reviewed the Ulta all matte palette.

I started testing Milani by giving their Earthy palette a shot and is so soft! Then got the rose blushes and matching smaller roses highliters and got hooked! Recently I hunted the bronzers at a clearance from Target they turned out so very fine no glitter at all once on skin! (don’t forget to check their clearance bin on my Target it is placed near the pharmacy). I have found many goodies there also some Nyx lipglosses, always chapsticks, etc. Also got all four of the Color Harmony blushes gorgeous! and the Strobelight highliters. Milani is killing the game! My two favorites are WetnWild & Milani at the drugstore.

Just sensational Muse – beautiful shades and perfect pigmentation. Milani has put a lot of HE brands to shame on these mattes.

These look really nice. Have to see if they’re chalky, but they look very nice. Helpful post!

Thinking if I get all the Milani palettes I will have to give away the Earth, Fire. Air from Nyx I haven’t enjoyed those as much don’t know why but don’t reach for them much. The set with Warm Neutrals I did like much more these are buttery soft and beautiful shades indeed.
